Thank you so much !!We are deeply grieved to hear of your friend’s struggle, and our hearts ache with yours as we lift her before the Lord. The weight of depression and suicidal thoughts is heavy, but we know that our God is near to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit (Psalm 34:18). We stand in the gap for her, declaring that her life is precious to Him, and we rebuke the lies of the enemy that seek to steal, kill, and destroy (John 10:10). The spirit of suicide has no place in her life, we command it to flee in the mighty name of Jesus!
Father, we come before You with urgency, asking for Your healing touch to rest upon her mind, body, and soul. You are the God who restores, who brings light into the darkest places, and who holds her children in the palm of Your hand. We pray for a supernatural peace to guard her heart and mind (Philippians 4:7), and for Your presence to surround her like a shield (Psalm 3:3). Lord, reveal Yourself to her in ways she cannot ignore, through Your Word, through the love of believers, and through the still, small voice that speaks life.
We also lift up her children, Lord. They need their mother, and we ask that You would comfort them and provide for them in every way. Give them a sense of security and hope, even in this difficult season. Surround them with godly influences who can speak truth and encouragement into their lives.
We must also address the spiritual battle at hand. Depression and suicidal thoughts are not merely emotional or chemical, they are spiritual attacks meant to separate her from the hope found only in Christ. If she has not yet surrendered her life to Jesus, we pray that she would come to know Him as her Savior and Deliverer. There is no other name under heaven by which we can be saved (Acts 4:12). If she is already a believer, we pray for a fresh infilling of the Holy Spirit to strengthen her faith and renew her mind (Romans 12:2).
We encourage you, as her friend, to reach out to her with love and without judgment. Remind her that she is not alone, that her life has purpose, and that God sees her pain. Share scriptures of hope with her, such as Jeremiah 29:11, which assures us that God has plans for her welfare, not for evil, to give her a future and a hope. Pray with her, cry with her, and if necessary, help her seek professional Christian counseling or medical support. The body of Christ is called to bear one another’s burdens (Galatians 6:2), and this is a burden we can carry together.
Let us pray:
Heavenly Father, we come before You with heavy hearts, interceding for our sister in Christ who is battling darkness. We rebuke the spirit of suicide and depression in the name of Jesus, and we declare that no weapon formed against her shall prosper (Isaiah 54:17). Lord, break the chains of despair and fill her with Your joy, which is her strength (Nehemiah 8:10). Surround her with Your angels, and let her feel Your presence in tangible ways. Restore her to fellowship with her Bible study group, and let her experience the love and support of Your people.
We pray for wisdom for those around her, her family, friends, and church community, to know how to minister to her with grace and truth. Provide her with the resources she needs, whether it be counseling, medical care, or simply a listening ear. Lord, we ask that You would heal her mind and renew her thoughts according to Your Word (Psalm 19:7). Let her children see Your faithfulness even in this trial, and draw them closer to You as a result.
Above all, we pray that she would fix her eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of her faith (Hebrews 12:2). Remind her that she is fearfully and wonderfully made (Psalm 139:14), and that her life has eternal value in Your sight. We trust You, Lord, to bring beauty from ashes and joy from mourning (Isaiah 61:3). In the powerful name of Jesus, we pray. Amen.
