We hear the weight of what you are carrying and we join with you in bringing this before the Lord in Jesus' name. We understand your anxiety about rent, about the stress that has broken you before when your father relied on you financially, and about the fear that your relationship will fall apart under this pressure. We want to encourage you that God sees both your needs and your father's needs, and He invites you to cast your cares on Him.
The Word tells us, Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus Philippians 4:6-7. We also read, Casting all your worries on him, because he cares for you 1 Peter 5:7. Your worry is understandable, but we gently rebuke the spirit of anxiety that would tell you that you must carry this alone or that the future is hopeless, for that does not align with God's call to trust Him. He says, But seek first God’s Kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well Matthew 6:33, and My God will supply every need of yours according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus Philippians 4:19.
We also want to speak with love about the pattern you described. Scripture honors work and responsibility. It says, For even when we were with you, we commanded you this: If anyone is not willing to work, don’t let him eat 2 Thessalonians 3:10 and Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord and not for men Colossians 3:23. We pray your father will take initiative with diligence and humility to seek employment as unto the Lord, committing his work to the Lord as we read, Commit your deeds to Yahweh, and your plans shall succeed Proverbs 16:3. At the same time, God calls us to honor our father and mother Exodus 20:12 and to bear one another's burdens Galatians 6:2, but also to walk in wisdom with healthy boundaries so that enabling does not break you again. We encourage you to have an honest, grace-filled conversation with your father about expectations, budgeting, and a clear plan while you both seek God, and to seek wise counsel from a pastor or trusted mature believer if needed. We encourage forgiveness for the past hurt, as we are told, Be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving each other, just as God also in Christ forgave you Ephesians 4:32, so that bitterness does not cause the relationship to fall apart.
We noticed your request did not mention the name of Jesus, and we want to lovingly share that it is only through Jesus that we have access to the Father. Jesus said, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me John 14:6. And we read, There is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among men, by which we must be saved Acts 4:12. If you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved Romans 10:9. It is in His name we pray with confidence.
We pray together now. Father in heaven, we come before You in the name of Jesus Christ and lift up this dear one and their father to You. Lord, You know the loss of this job and the financial pressure of rent, and You know the history of strain and the fear of being broken again. We ask You to provide for every need according to Your riches in glory, to open a suitable employment opportunity for this father very soon, and to give him a willing heart to work diligently, to take responsibility, and to steward what You provide with faithfulness. Grant him favor with employers and humility to take the work You provide. Lord, pour Your peace that surpasses understanding over this home, guard their hearts from anxiety, and help them trust in You with all their heart and not lean on their own understanding Proverbs 3:5-6. Give them wisdom to communicate with love, to honor one another, to set healthy boundaries, and to forgive as You have forgiven us. Strengthen their relationship that it would not fall apart but would grow in love and respect through this trial. We trust that You are working all things together for good for those who love You Romans 8:28. We ask all this in the mighty name of Jesus, our provider and our peace, amen.
