For God’s Favor in This Job Opportunity

Please pray with me concerning a job opportunity that I have been pursuing since June. I have gone through several rounds of interviews, with my final interview taking place on August 28. I believe the interview went well, and I am grateful for the opportunity to have been considered, but I have not yet heard back from the organization.

Please pray that, every person involved in the decision-making process would come into alignment with God’s will and purpose. Pray that the hearts, minds, conversations, decisions, and circumstances surrounding this opportunity would be ordered according to His perfect will and for me to get the job.

As Proverbs 3:5–6 reminds us:

“Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.”

Please pray that God would give me favor with those who are making the decision, that my experience, abilities, character, and the things I shared during the interviews would be remembered clearly and favorably, and that anything that needs to come together behind the scenes would come together in His timing.

I also ask for prayer according to Psalm 90:17:

“May the favor of the Lord our God rest on us; establish the work of our hands for us.”

For God to open this door, please pray that no human hesitation, confusion, delay, misunderstanding, or circumstance would prevent what He has ordained. May everyone who needs to be involved come into agreement with the decision God desires, and may the right conversations happen at the right time.

Father, I place this opportunity in Your hands. Align every person, every conversation, every decision, and every circumstance according to Your will. If this job is the door You have prepared for me, open it fully and establish the work of my hands. Let Your favor go before me. Let Your will be done. In Jesus previous name. Amen.

We join with you in prayer and thank God with you for this opportunity He has allowed you to pursue since June and for the favor to advance through several rounds of interviews to your final interview on August 28. We understand how difficult the waiting can be after you have done all you can do, and we bring this whole process before the Lord together, trusting not in our own understanding or efforts but in His perfect wisdom and timing.

You have anchored your request well in the Word, and we stand on those promises with you. Proverbs 3:5-6 says Trust in Yahweh with all your heart, and don’t lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight. And Psalm 90:17 says Let the favor of the Lord our God be on us. Establish the work of our hands for us. Yes, establish the work of our hands. We also remember that The king’s heart is in Yahweh’s hand like the watercourses. He turns it wherever he desires. Proverbs 21:1, and that whatever we do we are to do heartily as for the Lord and not for men, Colossians 3:23. We know that all things work together for good for those who love God, for those who are called according to his purpose. Romans 8:28, so even this time of silence has purpose in His hands.

We lift you up together in prayer.

Father in heaven, we come before Your throne of grace in the name of Jesus Christ, for it is only through Him we have access to You. We thank You for Your sovereignty and Your goodness. We place this job opportunity fully in Your hands. Lord, we ask that You would order every heart, every mind, every conversation and every decision surrounding this position according to Your perfect will. We pray that You would give our brother favor with each person involved in the decision making process, that what he shared concerning his experience, abilities and character would be remembered clearly and favorably, and that anything that needs to come together behind the scenes would come together in Your timing. Let no human hesitation, confusion, delay, misunderstanding or circumstance prevent what You have ordained. If this is the door You have prepared for him, we pray You would open it fully and that no one could shut it, and establish the work of his hands for Your glory. If in Your wisdom You have another and better path, make that straight and give him peace to receive it with joy. While he waits, we pray You would guard his heart and mind with Your peace which surpasses all understanding, Philippians 4:6-7, and keep him from anxiety, helping him to continue to trust in You with all his heart and to acknowledge You in all his ways. We ask that Your favor would rest upon him and that his work, wherever You place him, would be for You. We pray all of this in the mighty and saving name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior, amen.

We encourage you to remain steadfast in prayer and thanksgiving during this waiting period, continuing to seek Him daily. God knows the thoughts He thinks toward you, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you hope and a future. Jeremiah 29:11. Whether He opens this specific door or leads you to another, He is faithful to establish the work of your hands when that work is committed to Him. Keep trusting, keep resting in His will, and keep being ready to walk through the door He opens in His perfect timing.

We know how heavy this waiting feels after carrying this opportunity since June and giving your best through several rounds of interviews. Those days after a final interview on August 28 can feel especially long when you have done your part and the decision now rests with others.

We are praying with you that the Lord would order every conversation and detail according to His good will, and that you would sense His steadiness whether the answer comes quickly or takes a little longer. Hiring processes often involve many people and steps behind the scenes, so silence does not necessarily mean anything negative.

If it would be helpful, one simple next step is to send a brief, gracious follow-up note to thank them again for the final interview and reaffirm your interest, if you have not already. After that, giving them a clear window before following up again can protect your peace while you continue to be faithful in your current responsibilities and remain open to other opportunities God may bring.

Father, we bring this job opportunity before You in Jesus name. We ask for Your favor and peace to rest on our friend, for clarity and unity for those making the decision, and for Your perfect will to be done. If this is the door You have prepared, we ask You to open it, if not, guide to what is next. Establish the work of their hands and keep their heart anchored in trust in You. Amen.

I sent a email to the panel, along with writing samples (on ###). The most senior panelist responded with a warm email response. I then followed up yesterday ### with teh admin for teh hiring manager, but she is on vacation until next Monday. So I am waiting to hear.

We have heard your request and we join you in prayer before the throne of grace, giving thanks with you for the opportunity the Lord has already granted and for the measure of peace you have known through this long season of waiting since June.

We know what it is to wait when power seems gone and the answer tarries. Yet we are reminded that man's extremity is God's opportunity. When we have come to the end of ourselves, we have come to the beginning of God's working. He who has led you through each round of interviews, even to that final meeting on August 28, is the same God whose purpose is infallible and who changes not. What He has ordained shall stand, and no human hesitation, confusion, delay or misunderstanding can overthrow it.

Therefore we pray with you not only for an open door, but for full submission to His perfect will. We ask the Lord, in whose hands are the hearts of all decision makers, to order every conversation, every recollection of your experience and character, and every circumstance behind the scenes according to His wisdom and goodness. As you have quoted, we pray that you may indeed trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding, and that in all your ways you may acknowledge Him, confident that He will make your paths straight. And with the Psalmist we pray, may the favor of the Lord our God rest upon you and may He establish the work of your hands.

If this position is the place He has prepared for you, we ask that He would open it fully and that His favor would go before you, causing what you shared to be remembered clearly and favorably and bringing the right conversations at the right time. If in His greater wisdom He has another path, we pray He will make that plain also, and keep you from despair, for our trust is not in favor with man but in Christ alone, through whom alone is salvation and access to the Father.

We encourage you to cast yourself anew upon the broken hearted Savior. Trust Christ, you who dare not trust yourself. Fling yourself upon Him and rest in His compassion and His unchanging grace. He knows your need, He numbers your days, and He will do what is best for His people and for His servants.

Father, we place our brother in Christ and this opportunity in Your hands. Align every person, every decision and every circumstance according to Your will. Let Your will be done, and let Your name be glorified in the outcome. Establish the work of his hands as it pleases You, and give him quiet confidence to wait upon Your timing. In the name of Jesus Christ our Lord, Amen.

May God in Jesus' name answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy. God is so in love with you. Be Encouraged!
