Prayer for mercy

Anonymous

Beloved of All
“For if they fall, the one will lift up his fellow. But woe to him that is alone when he falleth, for he hath not another to help him up.“ Yup. I’m done for. Because I have not neither to help me up. I’m finished . I have no way out

We hear the deep despair in your words, and our hearts ache with you. The scripture you referenced from Ecclesiastes 4:10 speaks truth about the pain of isolation, how heavy it is to fall alone, without a hand to lift you. But beloved, we must remind you that even in your darkest hour, you are not truly alone. The Lord sees you, knows your struggle, and is near to the brokenhearted (Psalm 34:18). His mercy is not dependent on your circumstances or the presence of others. It is everlasting, unchanging, and available to you right now.

You say you are "finished" and have "no way out," but we declare over you the truth of God’s Word: "The Lord is my light and my salvation, whom shall I fear? The Lord is the stronghold of my life, of whom shall I be afraid?" (Psalm 27:1). Even when you cannot see the path ahead, He is your way. Even when you feel forsaken, He has promised, "I will never leave you nor forsake you" (Hebrews 13:5). Your feelings are real, but they are not the final word, God’s promises are.

We must also gently but firmly address something critical: if you have not yet placed your trust in Jesus Christ, now is the time. There is no mercy, no hope, and no true comfort outside of Him. Jesus said, "I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me" (John 14:6). If you have not surrendered your life to Him, we urge you to do so today. Confess your sins, believe in His death and resurrection for your salvation, and invite Him to be Lord of your life. Only then will you know the fullness of His mercy and the power to rise again.

Let us pray for you now:

Heavenly Father, we come before You with heavy hearts for our brother/sister who feels utterly alone and without hope. Lord, You are the God who sees, the God who hears, and the God who saves. We ask that You would wrap Your arms around them in this moment, reminding them that they are never truly forsaken. Break the chains of despair, Father, and let Your light pierce the darkness in their soul. We rebuke the lies of the enemy that tell them there is no way out, and we declare Your truth over them: that You are their refuge, their strength, and their deliverer.

Lord, if they do not yet know You as Savior, we pray that Your Holy Spirit would convict their heart and draw them to Jesus. May they experience the life-changing power of Your love and mercy. Forgive their sins, cleanse their heart, and fill them with Your peace that surpasses all understanding. Surround them with Your people, believers who will lift them up in prayer, speak truth into their life, and walk alongside them in love.

We ask for Your supernatural intervention in their circumstances, whatever they may be. Provide a way where there seems to be no way, and open doors that no man can shut. Strengthen their faith, Lord, and help them to trust in You even when they cannot see the outcome. We declare that this is not the end of their story, You are writing a testimony of Your faithfulness, and we pray they would soon stand in awe of what You have done.

In the mighty name of Jesus, we pray. Amen.

Beloved, we know the weight you carry feels unbearable, but please do not give up. Reach out to someone, a pastor, a Christian friend, or even a helpline, to share your burden. You were never meant to carry this alone. The body of Christ is here to lift you up, just as iron sharpens iron (Proverbs 27:17). If you are struggling with thoughts of self-harm or suicide, we beg you to seek help immediately. Your life is precious to God, and He has a purpose for you that the enemy wants to steal. Fight for your faith, even if it feels like a battle. Cling to Jesus, for He is your only true hope.

We will continue to stand in the gap for you in prayer. You are not forgotten. You are not abandoned. You are deeply loved by the One who gave His life for you. Hold on. Help is coming.

We hear you, and we’re so sorry you feel this alone. When it seems there’s no one to help you up, the weight of that emptiness can be crushing. You are not invisible to us, and you are not invisible to God.

It’s easy to believe that because you can’t see a way out, there isn’t one. But right now, despair is narrowing your vision. Even the smallest step toward human connection can begin to lift that fog. If reaching out to a friend feels impossible, would you consider calling a local church and asking to speak with a pastor? You don’t have to have the right words, just tell them what you told us. Many pastors make themselves available for exactly this kind of moment, and a short visit or phone call can be a handhold back toward hope. You don’t need to have your life together; you only need to show up.

If the pain ever turns toward thoughts of harming yourself, please don’t delay: reach your local emergency services or go to findahelpline.com. You don’t have to carry that alone.

For now, we’re holding you up in prayer.

Jesus, you came for the broken, the discarded, and the utterly alone. We ask you to break through this isolation. Send someone who will simply sit with this precious person, listen, and not rush away. Give them a flicker of courage to take one tangible step toward community, and wrap them in your steady, unshakable presence tonight. In your merciful name, amen.

May God in Jesus' name answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy. God is so in love with you. Be Encouraged!

Heal Me Lord Jesus Spirit, Soul, And Body

Lonely and fallen, you say you have no helper: but have you looked to Him who is mighty to save? You cry that you have none to lift you up, yet it is exactly when every earthly prop gives way that the tender mercy of God draws near. You feel yourself finished, without a way out; but the Gospel’s whole business is with the desperate and the lost. Did not our Lord say that He came to seek and to save that which was lost? If you were merely weakened, you might look to your own strength; but since you are utterly fallen, your case is precisely that for which Christ descended from the mount of glory to tread the valley of our misery.

Mark how the mercy of God goes before us. Long before your heart knew its own ruin, a fountain filled with blood was opened for sin and for uncleanness. A sure Covenant was made, a Saviour provided, a complete redemption accomplished, all before you had ever shed a single tear of penitence. This is the outrunning love of God, who forestalls the sinner’s need. When you were smarting under a sense of wrong, or perhaps reaping the bitter fruit of your own pride, as Hagar sat by the well in the wilderness of Shur, even then the Angel of the Lord met her. Even so, in your unlikely and distracted state, the Lord is able to call to you out of heaven and turn your flight into a return to the fountain of living waters.

Refuse that false hope which thinks God’s mercy means He will overlook sin without an atonement. The Lord is slow to anger, yet He will by no means clear the guilty. That is why Christ hung upon the tree, that God might be just, and the justifier of him that believeth. Look not to a general mercy that is but a dream, but fix your eye upon Jesus, crowned with thorns and given for your transgressions. There is more mercy in that one Sacrifice than in all the vague notions of an indulgent deity that men fashion for themselves. In Christ, mercy and truth meet together; righteousness and peace kiss each other.

And what condescension is in our Lord! He came down from the mountain where His face shone as the sun, and He did not disdain the cry of a poor father with a demon-tormented child. He rebuked the unclean spirit, lifted the boy, and restored him whole. Do you think your case is beyond that? The same Lord receives sinners still, touches the untouchable, and unties the most tangled knots of Satan’s binding. He is not ashamed to be called the friend of sinners, not of the righteous, but of the hopeless. If you have no helper on earth, then Christ is the more ready to be your sole support; for when every man scatters and leaves us alone, in truth we are not alone, because the Father is with us in the Son.

Let this be the day when you cease to look at what you are not, and cast your entire weight upon what Christ is. You will not mend your case by despair, nor by staying away from the only Physician because your wounds stink and corrupt. The tender provisions of mercy are laid up for such as you: bandages for every sore, a stretcher borne by careful hands, the hospital of the covenant prepared, and a place in the Father’s house. Where sin abounded, grace doth much more abound. Though you have fallen, the Lord lifts up all those that are bowed down. Though your faith be weak and long in coming, He does not quench the smoking flax. Come, then, with all your ruin and your isolation, and trust Jesus now. He is able to save them to the uttermost that come unto God by Him, and He will in no wise cast you out.

Your cry is for mercy, and that is a cry that has never been refused. Do not surrender to the thought that you are finished. The evil one himself never despairs of your destruction, pursuing you relentlessly, yet he now hisses in your ear that you must despair of your own salvation. What a grievous contradiction. If the enemy will not give up his hope of dragging you down, how dare you give up your hope of being lifted up.

You speak of having no fellow to raise you when you fall, but where are your eyes fixed. Behold the kindness of God toward the most desperate cases. Look at the calling of Paul, who said he obtained mercy for this very purpose, that in him, as the chief of sinners, the Lord might show forth all His long-suffering as an example for those who would believe on Him. If the worst of men became a vessel of mercy precisely so that no one would ever despair, what madness makes you now exclude yourself from that very example given for your sake.

The laws of men may cast out an offender for a single transgression, but the goodness of God is meant to lead you to repentance, not to deeper darkness. Do not bely that goodness by claiming your fall lies beyond its reach. You say you have no way out, yet as long as it is called Today while you still breathe in this world, you stand within the bounds of hope. The man who falls and has no helper seems undone, but the wounded man can still cry out, and the cry for mercy is the very prayer that reaches the Physician’s ears. Rise, then, not by your own strength, but by seizing the hand stretched out to you. Repent, and prove the truth of Your cry, knowing that the mercy you seek is exactly what He delights to show.

You feel alone, cut off, with no one to help you up. You believe it’s over and you’re finished. But that depth of despair is not the final word. It is often the very place where God’s mercy breaks through most clearly.

Mercy is not getting what you actually deserve. And none of us deserve to be lifted up. Yet God’s mercy endures forever. Over and over, the Scriptures press that truth into our hearts: His mercy does not run out, it does not expire, and it is not worn thin by our failures. It is as high as the heavens are above the earth, and from everlasting to everlasting. You may feel you’ve crossed a line, that somehow you’ve exhausted His pity. But the only time God says, “No more mercy” is when a people stubbornly refuse to call on Him at all. Yet even then, He promises a future restoration, declaring, “I will have mercy on her who had not obtained mercy, and I will say to those who were not My people, ‘You are My people.’”

The issue is never that His mercy has vanished. It is that we finally stop trying to lift ourselves. Many of us have to sink to the bottom of total despair in our own efforts before we cease looking inward and cry out instead, “Who shall deliver me?” That cry is where hope begins, because the answer is not yourself. It is God who shows mercy, and He shows it through Jesus Christ. At the cross, mercy and truth met together. Justice was fully satisfied so that you need not pay the penalty for your sin. He can be both just and the justifier of the one who trusts in Him.

You quoted, “Woe to him that is alone when he falleth.” But you are not alone. The Lord Himself is near to the brokenhearted. When you call to Him out of your distress, even when the mess is entirely your own doing, He hears. He does not search for reasons to condemn you; He delights in mercy. He is simply looking for you to give Him an excuse to forgive, to restore, to lift you up out of the prison of despair.

So do not say you are finished. Say instead, “Have mercy upon me, O God, according to Your steadfast love.” He will answer. Not because you are strong or have it all figured out, but because His mercy endures forever. Cry out to Him now, and you will find that He is your help, your lifter of your head, and the One who causes you to triumph through Jesus Christ.
