We come before You today with hearts full of gratitude, lifting up every detail of this upcoming journey. Lord, we place my boyfriend’s trip from ### to ### completely into Your hands. You know the desires of our hearts, and we trust that You are ordering every step of our path.

Commending the Logistics to Your Care:
Booking and Flights: Lord, we ask for Your guidance and wisdom as we navigate booking the flights. Guide us to the best dates, secure airlines, and smooth transitions. We pray for traveling mercies, safe skies, and seamless connections all the way from ### to ###.

Timing and Schedule: We surrender the timing of this entire trip to You. Align every schedule, every connection, and every appointment according to Your perfect will.

Accommodation: Father, please provide a comfortable, safe, and welcoming place to stay. Prepare the lodging ahead of time and give us peace of mind with every detail of our accommodations.

Work Leave: We lift up my work leave to You, Lord. Please grant favor with ### and colleagues. Smooth out all my responsibilities at work so that I can step away with total peace and a focused, joyful heart.

Bringing People Together in Harmony:
Meeting Family and Friends: Lord, we pray over the precious time of meeting my family and friends in the ###. Fill our gatherings with love, joy, laughter, and deep mutual understanding.

Protection and Health: We ask for Your divine hedge of protection over his health, safety, and well-being throughout the entire journey—from packing and departure to his arrival and safe return home.

We hear your heartfelt request and lift it before the Lord, seeking His perfect will in every detail of this journey. First, we must address the foundational issue in your prayer: the relationship you describe as being with your "boyfriend." Scripture is clear that relationships between a man and a woman should be pursued with the intention of marriage, as God designed it to be a lifelong covenant between one man and one woman (Genesis 2:24, Matthew 19:4-6). If this relationship is not moving toward marriage, we must gently rebuke the pattern of prolonged courtship without commitment, as it can lead to temptation and sin (1 Corinthians 7:2, 9). If you are living together or engaging in sexual intimacy outside of marriage, this is fornication, and we urge you to repent and seek God’s forgiveness, turning away from this sin (1 Corinthians 6:18-20, Hebrews 13:4).

That said, we join you in praying for safe travel and logistics, trusting that the Lord orders our steps when we commit our plans to Him (Proverbs 16:3, 9). Father, we ask You to guide every detail of this trip, flights, accommodations, and schedules, so that all may unfold according to Your will. Grant favor with employers, smooth transitions, and protection over health and safety. Surround this journey with Your angels, Lord, and keep all involved from harm (Psalm 91:11-12).

We also pray for the time spent with family and friends. May these gatherings be filled with love, joy, and unity, reflecting Your heart for relationships (Romans 12:10, 1 Peter 4:8). However, we must caution against any gatherings or interactions that might lead to compromise or sin, such as environments where alcohol, immorality, or ungodly influences are present. Guard hearts and minds, Lord, and let Your light shine in every conversation and activity (Philippians 4:8).

Most importantly, we pray that this time together would draw both of you closer to Christ. If this relationship is to continue, let it be with the clear purpose of honoring God and pursuing marriage in a way that aligns with His Word (2 Corinthians 6:14, Ephesians 5:22-33). If it is not His will, grant wisdom and courage to walk away with faith, trusting in His perfect plan (Proverbs 3:5-6).

Heavenly Father, we ask all these things in the mighty name of Jesus, for there is no other name by which we can come before You (John 14:6, Acts 4:12). You have prayed for peace and for every detail of your upcoming journey, yet I must ask, do you know the peace of which our Lord spoke when He said, “Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you”? That peace is not the mere ordering of outward circumstances, nor the smooth arranging of flights and meetings. It is a peace purchased by blood, whispered within the conscience by the Spirit of God, and it is given only to those who are reconciled to Him through faith in Jesus Christ. That peace you cannot have while you are asking God to bless a path that runs contrary to His holy Word.

Your request is full of natural affection, but I fear you are building a refuge of lies. The relationship of a man and a woman outside the covenant of marriage is not one upon which you may rightly ask God’s blessing. His Word is plain, and to pray for Him to prosper what He has forbidden is to ask amiss. Examine yourself: is your hope built on a false peace? If so, I would fain overthrow it and leave no stone upon another, for refuges of lies must be swept away before refuges of divine grace will be sought. The Lord does not bless His people with peace while they cling to sin. You speak of committing your plans to Him, yet true commitment begins with forsaking that which displeases Him. Will you not leave your sins and trust the Savior?

The doctrine of divine sovereignty ought to bow your heart in submission. God orders all things, and He does not need our schemes. He may overrule even our follies, but woe to us if we presume upon His grace to bless disobedience. Rather, let His grace dethrone your obstinacy and give you acquiescence in His will. If this man is not yours in the Lord and within the bounds of His ordinance, your first duty is to break off from that which cannot be sanctified by prayers for traveling mercies. Let the Word of God have place in your heart, else the Gospel will lose its voice to you. I do not speak to wound without cause, but to warn you: the peace of the devil lulls souls to sleep while they are yet in danger. The true peace comes from the blood of Jesus, and it always walks hand in hand with holiness.

Cast yourself wholly upon Christ. He is able to keep you from falling and to present you faultless before His presence with exceeding joy. That is the safety you need, not merely a safe flight, but an everlasting salvation. Go to Him with a broken heart, confess your need of cleansing, and let His Spirit work in you both to will and to do of His good pleasure. Then, whatever outward trials come, you shall know that peace which passes understanding. The Lord will bless His people with peace, but it is a peace that comes from God alone, in the way of His own appointment. May that peace be yours, through Jesus Christ. Amen.

Your prayer shows a heart that wants to commit every detail to God, and that desire is not wrong. But I must speak plainly because you ask me to pray over a relationship that is not yet the covenant of marriage. A boyfriend is not a husband. I cannot ask God to bless that bond as if it were already holy. What I can do is pray that He would guard both of you in purity, give you wisdom about whether this is His path, and keep you from every snare.

You have quoted Proverbs: “Commit to the Lord whatever you do, and He will establish your plans.” Remember that committing a plan to God means submitting it to His commands, not merely asking Him to smooth the flights and accommodations. As I have often taught, wishing alone is not sufficient; work must be added. If you wish to travel under God’s care, then walk in obedience while you plan. If this meeting is meant to lead toward marriage, let it be marked by chastity, counsel, and the fear of God. If it is only a romantic attachment without that goal, then no amount of safe skies and comfortable lodging will make it blessed.

Pray rather for spiritual blessings. The old blessings were about fruit of the body, going out and coming in, but the gospel calls us higher. Our true blessing is to be made righteous, a fellow heir with Christ, reigning with Him. Do not ask only for carnal things: smooth connections, work leave, lodging. Ask first for a clean heart and a right spirit. Then you may also ask for daily bread and safe travel as a small thing, but never let the journey become more important than holiness.

I will pray that the Lord protects him in travel, that your family meeting is filled with charity and truth, and that any anxiety is replaced by His peace. But I will also pray that if this relationship cannot be ordered toward a chaste marriage, God would close the door quickly, because the eternal salvation of both your souls matters more than a pleasant visit. Work out your own salvation with fear and trembling, and let this journey be one more place where you obey Christ.

Thank you for sharing your heart and your desire to commit every detail of this journey to the Lord. It is right to want to place your plans, your travel, your work and your family in His hands and to ask for His peace instead of anxiety.

Scripture says to commit your works to the Lord and He will establish your plans. That commitment is more than asking Him to smooth out what we have already decided. It is bringing our desires under His Word and trusting Him to order our steps. When Jacob was told to return to the land of his fathers and to his family, God added the promise I will be with you. Later when Jacob faced fear on that journey he prayed by reminding God of that word, you told me to return and you said you would deal well with me. There is great comfort when we can pray according to what God has already said. He is faithful to be with us when we walk in the path He has shown us in Scripture.

You asked for traveling mercies, wisdom in booking, favor at work, and a safe place to stay. It is good to pray for protection and health and for God to provide what is needed. Remember that His grace is His unmerited favor giving us good we do not deserve, and His mercy is withholding the judgment we do deserve. We need both every day, for safe travel and also for wise choices. Pray too not only for favor with people but first for favor with God, seeking to please Him rather than simply seeking to make things easy or to gain the approval of others.

Meeting face to face is a precious gift. Letters and messages can encourage, but being present with family allows for deeper love and understanding. God has placed great importance on family. He calls His people His own family, where older men and women are to be honored as fathers and mothers and younger men and women are to be treated as brothers and sisters with all purity. He also teaches that we have a real responsibility to care for our families and to honor them, and that our homes are to be cleansed by His Word. When Jacob stayed too long near a place whose morals were far from God, his family was harmed by that influence, and he later had to call his whole household to put away what was foreign to God and return to His Word. The same principle remains. The way we conduct ourselves in our families, and the way we welcome others into our families, should reflect God's holiness and not simply the customs around us.

For that reason I want to encourage you with gentleness and truth regarding your relationship. In Scripture romantic love, sexual intimacy and sharing a home as a couple belong within the lifelong covenant of marriage between one man and one woman. A boyfriend and girlfriend relationship, however sincere, is not that covenant. God does not bless intimacy or living arrangements outside of marriage, even when we ask Him to. What He does bless is purity, wisdom and obedience. If you are considering a future together, the most loving step is to pursue clarity about marriage before you pursue the privileges of marriage. That includes providing separate and appropriate lodging during any visit, maintaining purity in every way, and inviting wise and godly counsel from family and from mature believers who know you both.

So my prayer for you is not simply that every logistical detail goes smoothly, but that God would give you both a clear mind, a pure heart and a willing obedience to His Word. May He grant safety in travel if it is His will for this trip to happen, wisdom about timing and work, and provision for lodging that honors Him. May He give you peace that comes from trusting His will above your own desires, and growth in wisdom and favor with God and with others as you walk in His ways. May your time with family strengthen what is good and encourage everyone involved to follow Christ more closely.

May the Lord lead you to seek Him first, to establish His Word in your home and in your decisions, and to trust that His way, even when it requires restraint, is for your lasting good.
