We come before the Lord with heavy hearts, lifting up your financial struggles and the academic challenges your son is facing. The weight of financial burdens can feel overwhelming, and we know the pressure of exams can bring anxiety not just to students, but to their families as well. But we stand on God’s promises, for He is our Provider and our Strength in every trial.
First, we must address the foundation of our prayers. It is only through the name of Jesus Christ that we have access to the Father. Jesus said in John 14:6, "I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me." There is no other name under heaven by which we can be saved (Acts 4:12). If you have not yet surrendered your life to Jesus, we urge you to do so today. Confess your sins, believe in His death and resurrection, and invite Him to be the Lord of your life. This is the first and most important step in seeing God’s power move on your behalf.
Now, let us pray for your financial situation. The Lord knows your needs before you even ask (Matthew 6:8), and He has promised to supply all your needs according to His riches in glory (Philippians 4:19). We rebuke the spirit of lack and poverty in the name of Jesus. The enemy comes to steal, kill, and destroy, but Jesus came that you may have life and have it abundantly (John 10:10). We declare that God will open the windows of heaven and pour out blessings upon you (Malachi 3:10). Father, we ask You to provide for this family in ways that only You can. Give them wisdom to manage what You entrust to them and faith to trust You even when the path is unclear. We break every curse of financial struggle and declare that this family will walk in divine prosperity according to Your will.
For your son’s exams, we pray for the Lord to grant him clarity of mind, focus, and retention of all he has studied. The Bible tells us in Proverbs 2:6, "For Yahweh gives wisdom. Out of his mouth comes knowledge and understanding." We ask You, Lord, to fill him with Your wisdom and understanding as he prepares for these subjects, mathematics, computer science, and physics. We rebuke the spirit of fear and anxiety that may be hindering his performance. God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and a sound mind (2 Timothy 1:7). We declare that he will rise above past failures and walk in the confidence that comes from You. Strengthen his memory, sharpen his mind, and give him peace as he takes these exams. If there has been laziness, distraction, or a lack of discipline, we pray for conviction and a renewed commitment to his studies. Help him to seek You first in all things, for You promise that if we seek Your kingdom, all these things will be added to us (Matthew 6:33).
We also lift up the relationship between you and your son. Parenting is a sacred responsibility, and the Bible instructs fathers not to provoke their children to wrath, but to bring them up in the training and instruction of the Lord (Ephesians 6:4). If there has been tension, frustration, or a lack of communication, we pray for healing and restoration. May your home be filled with love, patience, and encouragement. Teach you both to lean on God’s grace in this season.
Finally, we encourage you to hold fast to God’s Word. Meditate on His promises day and night, for they are life to those who find them (Proverbs 4:20-22). Do not be discouraged by temporary setbacks, for the Lord is working all things together for your good (Romans 8:28). Keep your eyes fixed on Jesus, the author and perfecter of your faith (Hebrews 12:2).

Your burden is twofold, the empty purse and the failing son. Both press sorely upon the soul, and it is right to bring them to the Lord. Financial straits try our faith; they make the wilderness seem very barren. Yet remember how the Master asked, “How can a man satisfy these men with bread here in the wilderness?” and then showed that He Himself is the answer. He multiplies the loaves; He provides for pressing needs. Cast your care upon Him, for He careth for you. Do not let unbelief whisper that He has forgotten, His love is everlasting, and His Son’s sacrifice has put away all your sin, so surely He will not withhold daily bread.
As for your son and these failed examinations, mathematics, science, the stubborn languages of logic and law, do not despair. Failure often lies not in the difficulty but in our want of faith. The disciples could not cast out the demon and asked, “Why could we not?” The Lord answered, “Because of your unbelief.” Faith is the golden link between our poverty and His power. Plead with the Lord to increase your faith and your son’s. Perhaps God will use this very thwarting to drive the young heart to seek wisdom from on high. The carpenter’s son was despised, yet all the treasures of wisdom are hid in Him. Pray that your son may learn the fear of the Lord, which is the beginning of knowledge, science and numbers will then find their proper place.
Take heart from the prodigal’s father: he saw his son afar off and ran with compassion. Your heavenly Father has compassion on you and on your struggling child. Bring him in prayer to the cross, trusting only Jesus. I shall join my prayers with yours, that financial relief may come and that the young man may pass these exams, but above all, that he may pass from death unto life by knowing the Son of Man who came to seek and to save that which was lost.
