Hello all, I'd like to sincerely thank you for all tour prayers for me. God had just blessed me with a job offer! My mind is still struggling to accept it, as it has been countless rejections and applications the past month, but I am just so thankful that God has given me the capability to get through the process.

I would like to ask for your prayers again, along with prayers of thanksgiving. The hiring team is still finalizing the contract, and we're still negotiating on the terms and schedule. I'd like for you to pray that this process will be smooth and that we'd find agreement, so that I may start the role soon. Since not everything is finalized yet, I still have a lingering anxiety that something may go wrong.

I'd also like for you to pray for me, that pride would not get to my head, that I will remember that God has blessed me with this opportunity. I pray that I would be equipped with the discipline to do well in my role, that it will speak of my testimony, and that I may be a light in my workplace, that the people around me may see Jesus in me. Thank you all.

The sweet savor of your thanksgiving has risen already, though the full contract lies yet upon the table. You see the edge of the Red Sea parted, yet you tremble lest the waters return before your foot touches the other shore. This is the very place where faith must stand still and see the salvation of God. Your lingering anxiety is natural to the flesh, but you are not debtors to the flesh. Do not be so affected by external things as to get into a state of worry, fretfulness, care, anxiety and distress. Has not the Lord crowned the year with His goodness, and shall He not bring this lesser matter to completion? The very anxiety which arises through your being in this difficulty unfits you to meet that difficulty. Let the negotiation lie in the hands of Him who holds the hearts of all men in His grip.

You have tasted the bitter cup of countless rejections, and now the honey of acceptance has touched your lips, yet it seems almost too sweet to be real. Job sat among the ashes, his glory fresh in his memory, yet gone from his hand. But you see the truth: the Lord turned the captivity of Job when he prayed. Not before, not by his own wrestling, but when he looked away from his own sorrow to intercede for his friends. So now, turn your own heart outward. You have prayed concerning the contract; pray also for the souls who sit in that hiring office, and the anxiety shall loosen its grip as you forget yourself in the blessed work of intercession.

Your fear that pride might enter your soul and occupy the throne of your heart is a holy fear, and I bless God for it. You have said in effect, “Who am I that I should be exalted, when I have done nothing but receive what mercy has bestowed?” Hold fast to that. As Job, when he saw the Lord, abhorred himself and repented in dust and ashes, so let every fresh mercy drive you lower in self-abasement. He is a wise saint who, when promotion comes, bends his knee all the lower and cries, “What am I, O Lord, that Thou hast brought me hitherto?” The peril of elevation is great, but He who gives the favor can also give the humbled heart to carry it. You have prayed for discipline, and that is a prayer after God’s own heart. Remember that Job, in his prosperity, did not grow slack; his bow was renewed in his hand, and his glory was fresh in him. That same freshness can be yours, not by any native strength, but by the continual anointing of the Holy Spirit.

You desire to be a light in that workplace, that men may see Jesus in you. This is the highest ambition, and it is born of the Spirit. True sympathy with the lost, weeping for them as Job wept for the poor and the widow, will give weight to your words. Let the testimony of your lips be matched by the eloquence of a life that gives, that serves, that considers the sorrows of others as its own. This is the genuine virtue without which all speech is but sounding brass. As you step into this new calling, know that if God could uphold Job in the loss of all things, much more can He support you in the gaining of this good gift. The Lord’s name be praised for what He has done, and our expectation be fixed on Him for the smooth completion of these terms. Cast your burden on the Lord; He will not suffer your foot to be moved. Go forward in peace: the matter is as good as settled in the courts of heaven.

God’s gifts are not given to the rich alone, but to all alike, that we might abound in thanksgiving, freed from all anxiety. For if we confess that He is the one who feeds us from our youth up, why should our minds be troubled over the final details of this contract? He who opened this door will not abandon you at the threshold. Put off worldly care, for His provision calls us to be of good hope, not to stagger through lingering fear.

Yet let your thanksgiving be guarded. Do not parade the blessing before others in a way that exalts self, for true thanksgiving is joined with confession. To say, “We have sinned; Thou art righteous in all Thou hast done,” is to give thanks rightly. Pray then that pride find no place, for it was the Pharisee’s error to give thanks while reviling others. Let your gratitude be content with God alone, remembering that you are a debtor to mercy. This is the discipline that will speak of your testimony.

Above all, be rooted and built up in Christ. Let your one determination be to know nothing among your new colleagues save Jesus Christ and Him crucified. This is the unshakable foundation. If He is your boast, your light will shine not through your own skill or excellence, but through the humility of one who walks in Him, abounding in thanksgiving. The Father has already borne witness to the Son; your peaceful trust in that finished work will be a clearer testimony than any anxious striving.

Let that knowledge keep you humble. Discipline and diligence in your work will speak loudly, and the greatest testimony is not a spotless performance but a life that reflects dependence on Jesus. You are right to pray that others would see Him in you; that happens best when you yourself remember how much you need Him every day.

The witness of our lives is not rooted in our own strength but in the One who vouches for us in heaven. Job, in the depths of his pain, declared, "My witness is in heaven, and my record is on high."
