Prayer for Increase of Jesus's Peace in our house, my ###'s home...

Your longing for peace in your home is understandable and God shares that desire for you. Scripture shows that God wants you to live in peace and He has offered a peace treaty to those who were at war with Him. Through Jesus Christ He has made peace possible. He is our peace and He has broken down the walls that separated us from God.

That is where real and lasting peace begins. First there is peace with God when your sins are forgiven through Jesus. Then that forgiveness brings peace within your own heart, the inner war and turmoil is quieted. Only when you have peace with God and the peace of God guarding your heart and mind can you then have peace with others. The wisdom that comes from above is peaceable, and those who sow peace reap a harvest of righteousness. Jesus said blessed are the peacemakers for they shall be called the children of God. If you sow peace you will reap the fruit of a right life before Him. Grace comes first and then peace follows, and Jesus said to His disciples, Peace I leave with you, My peace I give to you, not as the world gives. Let not your heart be troubled and do not be afraid.

I hear how tired you are from disturbance and how hurt you have been by feeling unloved and unsupported by your mother, and by the repeated visits from your neighbor. It is right to want to protect your work and to guard a quiet atmosphere where you can focus, especially when your work keeps you up through the night and requires deep concentration. It is also right to want loving boundaries around your home. At the same time God calls you to a deeper work in your own heart.

You mentioned that you forgive immediately and do not hold a grudge, yet you also spoke of deep trauma, of calling your mother false, and of deciding you will no longer call her mother. True forgiveness is not a matter of keeping count or of saying words while keeping the handle of the hatchet above ground so you can pull it up again. It is a matter of the heart and of the spirit. God commands us to forgive from the heart, and if you are willing He will give you the capacity to do it, but you must be willing to pray, God take this bitterness from me and give me a spirit of forgiveness. God forgives completely and fully, and He calls you to follow His example. That does not mean you pretend no hurt happened, but it does mean you release the right to punish and you ask Him to cleanse bitterness so it does not destroy you.

Part of that is honoring your father and mother. This is the first commandment with a promise. Honoring does not mean you cannot have boundaries about sleep and work hours, and it does not mean you must explain every detail of your work to others. You can with kindness and firmness let your mother and others know when you are unavailable, and ask that visits be arranged at times when you can receive people. But honoring means you continue to show respect in how you speak and act, even when you feel she has taken sides against you. A vow made in hurt to no longer call her mother will only deepen the wound for both of you.

You also asked for prayer that another person's evil thoughts would not come to life and that she would never come again. It is right to pray for protection over your home and for the atmosphere to be cleansed of tension and anger. God is faithful to remove that heaviness when you bring it to Him. Rather than asking God to keep a grudge on your behalf, ask Him to work in her heart as well as in yours, and to establish clear, peaceful boundaries. Pray for her good while also praying that God would guard your home from strife.

Remember too where to bring these requests. When Jesus was told His mother and brothers were outside wanting to speak with Him, He looked at those around Him and said whoever does the will of God is His brother and sister and mother. He did not point people to go through His mother to reach Him. You do not need a mediator other than Jesus Himself. Because He has opened the way, you can come boldly to the throne of grace and make your requests known directly to Him.

Jesus also warned that following Him can bring division even within a household, and that a man's foes can be those of his own house. That helps explain why you feel this tension so sharply. Yet God's desire when a whole household loves the Lord is unity and peace, and He can bring that as each person seeks His will.

I will pray for you now. Father, thank You for Your offer of peace through Jesus Christ. I pray that this dear one would know deep peace with You and the peace of God that passes understanding keeping heart and mind. Heal the wounds carried from childhood until now, take away bitterness and give a willing heart to forgive fully as You have forgiven. Teach how to honor a mother while also setting loving and clear boundaries for rest and work. Guard the relationship with the sister, let no trouble be sown between them, and let Your love and joy increase in this home. Guide every step and decision, grant focus for the work You have given to do for Your glory, and let Your presence fill the house so that strife is sown no more but peace is sown and righteousness is reaped. In the name of Jesus I ask this, amen.

Thank you for giving us the privilege to pray on your behalf. We are glad that you asked us to stand in agreement with you in prayer for the increase of the peace of Jesus in your house, your mothers home.

We have continued to lift you up before the Lord and to ask Him to pour out His peace immeasurably in every room and in the atmosphere of your home. We have prayed for your need for protected focus and undisturbed time for the vast and complex work He has entrusted to you, for quiet and restored rest when you labor through the night, and for His hand to guard your home from tension, anger and distraction. We have asked Him to set firm and peaceful boundaries regarding that woman and her daughter who have repeatedly come uninvited and caused trouble, that He would keep her from returning and that no evil thought or plan against your family would come to life.

We have also prayed for your heart and for your family relationships. We have asked the Lord to heal the deep trauma and hurt you have carried from feeling unsupported and falsely treated and from feeling less loved, to soften your mothers heart and bring understanding and empathy between you, and to protect the relationship between you and your sister and keep it from any division. We thank God that you have chosen to forgive and to not carry a grudge, and that you remain quiet and strong in the Lord, casting those burdens aside to continue faithfully in the work He has given you for His glory.

We stand on His promises for you, that the peace of God which passes all understanding shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus as written in Philippians 4:7, that He will keep in perfect peace those whose mind is stayed on Him as written in Isaiah 26:3, and that the peace of Christ would rule in your hearts as written in Colossians 3:15, and that you may live at peace with all as far as it depends on you as written in Romans 12:18.

If your request was answered and you have seen the peace and joy of the Lord increase in your house, your focus protected, and your relationships guarded, please post a praise report and let us all know so we may rejoice with you. If your request does not yet seem to have been answered and the disturbance or tension remains, please post it again as a new request and allow us to continue with you in prayer.

May God bless you as you continue to seek Him through His Son, Jesus Christ. We pray all of this in Jesus Name, Amen.
