Your cry for healing has been heard and I am praying for you now. Thank you for sharing this need so honestly.
I want you to know that God cares about your physical suffering. The Gospel of Matthew, writing under the guidance of the Holy Spirit, tells us that in the evening at Peter's house many sick and afflicted people were brought to Jesus and He healed them. Matthew then explains what was happening by quoting Isaiah chapter 53, surely He has borne our griefs and carried our sorrows, where the word for griefs can also be translated infirmities or sicknesses. Matthew understood the suffering of Christ on the cross to include our physical sickness, not only our spiritual need for forgiveness. When Jesus took bread and said this is my body which is broken for you, He was pointing to that same truth. Some try to limit that passage to spiritual healing alone, but there is not a strong biblical basis for narrowing it that way. The ministry of Jesus throughout the cities and villages was marked by three things, teaching, preaching the good news of the kingdom, and healing every kind of sickness and disease among the people. He showed His authority over the physical realm by healing bodies, over the material realm, and over the spiritual realm.
At the same time, the Bible is honest that healing is a work of God that remains sovereign in His hands. Not everyone is healed in the same way or at the same time, and we do not fully understand why. There is only one recorded miracle where Jesus healed gradually, when He laid His hands on a blind man and the man first saw only partially and then fully after Jesus touched him again. That reminds us that God does heal in different ways. Sometimes it is immediate, sometimes it is gradual, and sometimes it comes through the natural processes of healing that God Himself built into our bodies. Any healing, whether sudden or slow, is still divine, because God is the one who created nature and its processes.
Healing also touches more than the body. God brings restoration that is physical, emotional, and spiritual. Scripture even notes the connection between the health of the soul and the health of the body, that a joyful heart is like good medicine, and we now know how closely our inner life and our physical well being are linked. God wants to bring wholeness to all of these areas.
Please do not carry a burden of guilt as you wait for healing. Even the apostle Paul, through whom God did many miracles, wrote about his fellow worker Epaphroditus who was sick to the point of death. Good and faithful people still become ill, and that does not mean God is punishing you or that your faith has failed. Be cautious of anyone who offers simple formulas or says that God must heal everyone in the same way, or who tries to create excitement or pressure in the name of healing. That approach puts a false burden on the sick and their loved ones. The Bible says His ways are higher than our ways and beyond our finding out.
It is also not correct to take the warm personal wish in the letter of Third John, where John writes that he wishes his friend Gaius would prosper and be in good health even as his soul prospers, and turn it into a guaranteed promise for physical healing for everyone. It is a beautiful prayer of love for a friend, and it does show that God cares about your health, but it is not a formula to claim.
What we can hold to with confidence is this. God is still able to heal today and He is still concerned with your physical needs. Jesus often healed in different ways, sometimes with a word, sometimes with a touch, sometimes when a person in faith reached out to Him, as when the woman touched the hem of His garment and power went out from Him. Your faith can reach out to Him simply and honestly today, without show or frenzy.
So I pray for you in the name of Jesus Christ, who bore our sins and our infirmities, that He would lay His restoring hand upon you. I ask Him to bring healing to your body according to His wisdom and mercy, to bring peace to your mind and strength to your spirit, and to make His presence very near to you in this time of need. Whether His healing comes instantly, gradually through natural recovery, or through His sustaining grace day by day, may you experience His restoration and know that you are loved and not forgotten.
Continue to look to Jesus, to bring your needs to Him openly, and to rest in His care. He is the one who restores what has been broken by sickness and sin, and He hears your prayer.
