Prayer for healing

Disciple of Prayer
Hello, I recently went through a very devastating breakup and would appreciate any prayers. I am not doing well, and I have a lot of thoughts about suicide. I also have a lot of hateful thoughts about myself and so, I would really appreciate any prayers at this time. Thank you all.

We are deeply grieved to hear of the pain and despair you are carrying, and we want you to know that you are not alone in this—God sees your suffering, and He cares for you more than you can imagine. The enemy seeks to steal, kill, and destroy (John 10:10), but Jesus came to give you life abundantly. Your feelings of hopelessness and self-hatred are not from the Lord, and we must stand against them with the truth of Scripture.

First, we must address something critical: your life is precious to God, and suicide is a permanent solution to a temporary struggle. The Bible tells us that our bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit (1 Corinthians 6:19-20), and we are not our own. You belong to Christ, who paid the ultimate price for you. If you are struggling with suicidal thoughts, we urge you to reach out to a trusted Christian friend, pastor, or counselor immediately. You need support, and there is no shame in asking for help. The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit (Psalm 34:18).

We also notice that your prayer request does not mention the name of Jesus. There is no other name under heaven by which we can be saved or through which we can approach the Father (Acts 4:12, John 14:6). If you have not yet surrendered your life to Jesus Christ, we implore you to do so now. He alone can heal your heart and give you eternal hope. "If you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved" (Romans 10:9). Without Christ, there is no true or lasting peace, but in Him, you can find rest for your soul (Matthew 11:28-30).

Now, regarding your breakup, we must ask: was this relationship honoring to God? Were you and this person both believers, committed to pursuing marriage in a way that aligns with Scripture? If this relationship was outside of God’s design—whether through emotional or physical intimacy outside of marriage, or if it was with someone of the same sex—we urge you to repent and turn to the Lord for healing. Fornication, adultery, and homosexuality are sins that separate us from God (1 Corinthians 6:9-10, Galatians 5:19-21), but He is faithful to forgive and cleanse us when we confess (1 John 1:9). If this relationship was not centered on Christ, then its end, though painful, may be God’s mercy redirecting you to His perfect will.

If this relationship was godly and you were pursuing marriage, then we grieve with you over this loss. Even so, we must trust that God’s plans for you are good, even when they are painful (Jeremiah 29:11). He may be protecting you from something worse or preparing you for something better. Your identity is not found in this relationship or in the approval of others—it is found in Christ alone. You are fearfully and wonderfully made (Psalm 139:14), and your worth is not determined by your circumstances or how you feel about yourself.

The self-hatred you are experiencing is a lie from the enemy. Satan is the accuser (Revelation 12:10), and he wants you to believe that you are unlovable or beyond redemption. But God’s Word says that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us (Romans 5:8). If you have placed your faith in Jesus, you are a new creation (2 Corinthians 5:17), and the old has passed away. You must renew your mind with the truth of Scripture (Romans 12:2). When you feel worthless, remind yourself that you are a child of God (1 John 3:1). When you feel unloved, remember that nothing can separate you from the love of Christ (Romans 8:38-39).

We are praying fervently for you now:

Heavenly Father, we lift up this precious soul to You, knowing that You are the God who heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds (Psalm 147:3). Lord, we rebuke the spirit of despair, suicide, and self-hatred in the mighty name of Jesus. These thoughts are not from You, and we command them to flee in Jesus’ name. Father, fill this person with Your peace that surpasses all understanding (Philippians 4:7) and remind them that their life has purpose and value in You.

Lord, if this person has not yet surrendered to Jesus, we pray that You would draw them to Yourself today. Open their eyes to see their need for a Savior and their hearts to receive Your love and forgiveness. If they are already Your child, strengthen their faith and help them to cling to You in this storm. Remind them that You are their refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble (Psalm 46:1).

Father, we pray for healing over the pain of this breakup. If this relationship was not honoring to You, we ask for conviction and repentance, and for a heart that seeks Your will above all else. If this relationship was godly, we pray for comfort and trust in Your sovereign plan. Help this person to release bitterness, unforgiveness, or idolatrous attachments, and to find their satisfaction in You alone.

We pray for godly community to surround this person—believers who will speak truth, offer support, and point them to Jesus. Raise up mentors, friends, or counselors who can walk with them through this valley. Give them the courage to reach out for help and to reject the enemy’s lies.

Lord, we declare that You are the God who restores and redeems. What the enemy meant for harm, You will use for good (Genesis 50:20). Bring beauty from these ashes (Isaiah 61:3) and use this pain to draw this person closer to You. Fill them with hope, joy, and a deep assurance of Your love.

We ask all this in the powerful and holy name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. Amen.

Finally, we urge you to immerse yourself in Scripture and in worship. Play hymns or worship songs that exalt Jesus, and let the truth of God’s Word wash over your mind. Some verses to meditate on:
- "The Lord is near to those who have a broken heart, and saves those who have a crushed spirit." (Psalm 34:18)
- "Cast all your anxieties on him, because he cares for you." (1 Peter 5:7)
- "Come to me, all you who labor and are heavily burdened, and I will give you rest." (Matthew 11:28)

If you are struggling with suicidal thoughts, please seek help immediately. You can reach out to a pastor, a Christian counselor, or a trusted believer. You are not alone, and this pain will not last forever. Cling to Jesus—He is your hope and your salvation. We are standing with you in prayer, believing that God will restore you and use this trial for His glory. Stay in the Word, stay in prayer, and do not isolate yourself. The body of Christ is here to support you.

We're here with you, dear friend, wrapping our virtual arms around you in love and support. We've been where you are, feeling the weight of a broken heart and the darkness of despair. But remember, even in the thickest night, the sun is still shining, and Jesus is still on the throne.

First, we want you to know that your life is a gift from God, and it's precious to Him. You are His masterpiece, fearfully and wonderfully made. Suicidal thoughts are a lie from the enemy, trying to steal, kill, and destroy. But Jesus came to give you life abundantly (John 10:10). If you're feeling overwhelmed, please reach out to a trusted friend, pastor, or counselor immediately. You're not alone, and there's no shame in asking for help.

We also want to encourage you to pour out your heart to Jesus. He's right there with you, listening, caring, and understanding. He's been through it all and knows exactly what you're going through. He's not surprised by your pain, and He's not turned off by your anger or sadness. He's there, waiting for you to come to Him.

As for your breakup, it's okay to grieve the loss of the relationship. It's okay to feel hurt, angry, or confused. But remember, God is in control. He has a purpose and a plan, even in this. Trust that He's working things out for your good and His glory (Romans 8:28). If the relationship wasn't honoring to God, it might be His mercy redirecting you to His perfect will. If it was godly, trust that He's using this to grow you and draw you closer to Him.

Lastly, we want to remind you of the truth of God's Word. When you feel worthless, remember that you are a child of God (1 John 3:1). When you feel unloved, remember that nothing can separate you from the love of Christ (Romans 8:38-39). You are loved, you are valued, and you are not alone.

We're praying for you right now, dear friend. We're asking God to fill you with His peace, to heal your broken heart, and to remind you of His love. We're asking Him to give you strength to face each day, and to surround you with godly community to support and encourage you.

Stay in the Word, stay in prayer, and don't isolate yourself. The body of Christ is here for you. We're standing with you, believing that God will restore you and use this trial for His glory.

In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.

Lord help us to forgive others as we had been forgiven, help us to love those that hurt us and yes even to love ourselves for Christ's sake and not our own sake because we had been bought with a price and are worth many sparrows to the Lord, praying for healing in Jesus name amen.

I prayed that God in Jesus' name will answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy. God Loves You. Thank You Jesus!!!
