Prayer for God's Glory to Manifest in my life

Your cry echoes that of Moses when he said, Show me Your glory, and it is a prayer God delights to answer. When Moses asked, God revealed His goodness, His mercy and His compassion. That same glory is now most clearly seen in Jesus Christ. At the cross God showed the depth of His love by not sparing His own Son, and in Christ we see the glory that far surpasses all that came before. The glory of the law that brought condemnation has faded, and the glory of righteousness in Christ remains and increases.

Scripture says that we with unveiled faces, beholding as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are being changed from glory to glory. That is how God answers this prayer in your life. You look to Jesus, you trust Him, you keep your eyes on Him in the Scriptures, and the Spirit transforms you to be more like Him. God has placed this glorious treasure in earthen vessels, in weak and ordinary people, so that the excellence of the glory will be seen to be of God and not of us. It is not about our own brightness, but about His life shining through us.

Keep your eyes on the eternal as you pray this. The afflictions and pressures of this present life are light and momentary compared to the eternal weight of glory God has prepared for you. That glory is indescribable in its beauty and joy and love, and it far exceeds anything we can imagine. When your heart is fixed on that eternal glory, the present struggles find their proper place.

You also asked God to create in you a consuming hunger for prayer and for the Scriptures, and that desire itself is something to bring continually before Him and let Him shape. Prayer was never meant to be a way to bend God to our wishes or to change His will. Prayer opens the door for God to do in you and through you what He has already desired to do, but which He will not force against your will. It begins with worship, with awe at who He is, and it ends with worship, acknowledging that His is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. As you pray, you are inviting Him to accomplish His will in your life.

My prayer for you is drawn from the apostle's prayer, that according to the riches of His glory you would be strengthened with might by His Spirit in the inner man, that Christ would dwell in your heart through faith, that you would come to know more deeply the breadth and length and height and depth of His love which passes knowledge, and that you would be filled with all the fullness of God. As you behold Him in the Word, that hunger you desire will grow, because the Word reveals Christ and His love.

God does answer prayer, sometimes by granting what we ask, sometimes by withholding and saying as He did to Paul, My grace is sufficient for you. In either case His answer is good because His love for you is constant and not based on your performance. All have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, but if your heart is to love and serve Him, He is faithful to lift you up when you stumble and to keep transforming you.

May the Lord reveal His goodness and mercy in every area of your life, increase your hunger for His presence and His Word, and cause His glory to be seen in you through Christ. To Him be glory throughout all ages, world without end.
