Prayer for god's favour in workplace

Thank you for opening your heart so honestly. I hear how heavy this has become, working more than twelve hours a day, every weekend, missing the fellowship of church, feeling depressed and disturbed, carrying anxiety about whether your leaders will approve your request and feeling hopeless even though you are now eligible to ask for a release. It is understandable that this pressure is affecting your behavior with others and that even reading Scripture feels empty right now.

Much of that anxiety and depression comes when we feel trapped with no way out. The pressures of difficult relationships at work, the spiritual pressure of feeling distant from God, and the sheer exhaustion can make it feel like God has been pushed out of the picture. The psalmist knew that feeling and spoke to his own soul, asking why are you cast down and disquieted within me, and then he gave his own answer, hope in God. When we lose sight of God in the situation, everything looks impossible. When we put Him back into the equation, when we again hope in Him and factor His presence and power and love into what we are facing, we begin to see a way forward. That does not mean the problems vanish instantly, but it means we are no longer carrying them alone.

Jesus said His yoke is easy and His burden is light, and that He delighted to do the will of His Father. When we are carrying a load that God never intended us to carry in our own strength, burnout comes quickly. You were not created to live with no life outside of work, with no rest, no worship, no time in the Word. God understands your limits and He cares about your need for rest and for fellowship with Him and His people. Your exhaustion is not a failure of faith, it is a sign that the burden has become too heavy to bear without His help.

I am praying for God's favour and clear intervention as you submit that request for release. I know how frightening it is to approach managers who have seemed toxic and who have already planned more weekend work. I have seen how God can work even through difficult and closed doors. There was a man who managed a store, faced threats, asked for a transfer, was refused and then was let go after many years of faithful service. It felt like a terrible setback, but within a short time God opened a different door for him to become a sales manager, and later when the company was sold he was in the very place to purchase it and lead it. What looked like rejection was actually God guiding him to what He had intended all along. God may open the door for your release, or He may provide another path you cannot yet see, but He is able to lead you even when people in authority seem unkind or unyielding.

While you wait, continue to do your work as unto the Lord. I remember learning that even when given a position of responsibility, there is no task too small if it helps others and honors God, whether that is the work others notice or the humble work no one wants to do. That attitude does not excuse an unhealthy work system, but it keeps your heart free from bitterness and keeps you serving Christ first, not just people.

So I am praying for you, that God will give you peace that guards your heart and mind in Christ Jesus, that He will calm the anxiety that feels overwhelming, that He will give you courage and words when you speak to your leads, and that He will grant favour in their decision. I am asking Him to restore your joy in His Word, to provide time again for worship and rest, and to make His will clear, whether that is a release from this project or another provision He has prepared. Above all, I pray you will be able to hope in God again, to bring Him back into the center of this situation and to trust that He sees you, He has not forgotten you, and He will guide your steps.

Keep bringing every fear to Him in prayer, stay in the Scriptures even when they feel dry, and lean on trusted believers around you for support. You are not without options in His hands, and you are not without hope.
