We are thrilled to hear that you are pursuing ministry and preparing your first sermon. It is wonderful that you are seeking prayer and support for this significant task. Firstly, we want to remind you that it is by the name of Jesus that we come before God. As we read in Romans 10:13, everyone who calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved. Also in Acts 4:12, it is written that there is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among men by which we must be saved. We'd like to pray for you.
Heavenly Father, we come before You in the name of Jesus, lifting up our fellow believer as they prepare their first sermon. We ask that You fill them with Your Holy Spirit, granting them wisdom, understanding, and the ability to clearly communicate Your Word. Help them to speak with boldness and conviction, and may their words be grounded in Your truth.
We pray that their sermon would not only be a requirement for their course but a means to glorify Your name and edify the body of Christ. May their words be used to plant seeds in the hearts of their listeners and teachers. We pray also for the people who will hear the words of the sermon. Father, may they be open to the Gospel and the Message of Jesus and Your Word. May they be changed by Your Word and be inspired to live more like Christ. We ask this in Jesus' name.
Remember, as it is written in 2 Timothy 3:16-17 WEB, All Scripture is inspired by God, and is profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for instruction in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work.
As you prepare, remember that your reliance should be on the Holy Spirit. Be assured by the promise in Luke 12:11-12 WEB, When they bring you before the synagogues, the rulers, and the authorities, don't be anxious how or what you will answer, or what you will say; for the Holy Spirit will teach you in that same hour what you must say.
We encourage you to stay rooted in the Word and be open to the leading of the Holy Spirit. May your ministry be marked by a steadfast commitment to the truth of the Gospel and a deep love for those you serve.
