Heavenly Father, I realize that it is more important to seek treasures in heaven rather that to seek for worldly treasures, and I am in total agreement with this. However, I am coming before you today to ask for your blessings in our financial situation. As you know, my husband and I live by set monthly incomes and we have 5 children still at home, in addition to a pregnant daughter in law. We live life as simply and as humbly as you have allowed. We do not spend our income on unnecessary things, not even going to a fast food restaurant like McDonald's because we can't afford to. It has been many, many years since we've taken our children out to a nice family dinner at even an inexpensive restaurant, and I am not complaining, just explaining myself. We buy clothes but once or twice a year, maybe, and most clothes and shoes our children have have been handed down or given to us by family and friends, and we are very grateful and feel very fortunate.
However, school is starting up again in less than 2 weeks. My kids only got 2 sets of uniforms each last year and have outgrown them. My daughter is going into first year of middle school and needs a set or two. They need shoes and school supplies. My medical bills are flooding in and I sometimes feel very overwhelmed. I trust that somehow, you will pull through for us again, as you always do. Please, provide us with the means to purchase uniforms, shoes, supplies, and pay my medical bills before I have to travel again for my follow up.
I don't know what your will is for us, although I believe it is that we are to assist our parish and the many people who call upon us for help in one way or another, and we are happy to serve you in this way. But would you be so kind to relieve us of this worry of our finances that we can concentrate on helping those who are even more in need. If it pleases you, bless us with the means to help those who come to us seeking financial assistance, because this is the biggest area where we are most unable to assist and it truly breaks our hearts, especially where children are concerned.
