It is good that you have brought your friend before the Lord in prayer. A friend loves at all times, and it is a true mark of friendship to carry one another to God in moments of pressure and need.
We will pray for her as she takes her driving test, that God would grant her a clear mind, calmness, and safety, and grant success as He wills. Above all we pray that she would know the peace of God in the midst of it.
Scripture makes a distinction that is important here. There is peace with God, which comes only through Jesus Christ and His blood shed for our sins, by which we are no longer at war with God but reconciled to Him. And then there is the peace of God, that steady rest that keeps our hearts and minds when our thoughts are fixed on Him. Many have the first and have not yet learned to live in the second.
The promise is that God will keep in perfect peace the one whose mind is stayed on Him, because that person trusts in Him. Jesus said, My peace I give to you, not as the world gives. The world cannot understand this peace, and the world cannot give it. It is the peace that passes all understanding, guarding the heart even when circumstances are uncertain and the outcome is unknown.
So encourage your friend to set her mind on the Lord today. Anxiety and turmoil come when we look only at our own ability and at what might go wrong. Rest comes when we look to Him and trust that He is able to do what we cannot do for ourselves. God wants His children to live in that rest, to labor to enter into it by choosing trust over worry, and to know that whether the answer is yes or no, He is working for good and He will take care of what concerns us.
Let us pray together. Father, we thank You that we have peace with You through Jesus Christ. We lift up this young woman to You now. You know her need and the test before her. We ask that You would quiet her heart, steady her mind, and keep her in Your perfect peace as she trusts in You. Grant her clarity and calm, keep her and others safe on the road, and grant her success according to Your gracious will. And whatever the result, help her to rest in You, knowing that You are near, that You are the Friend who sticks closer than a brother, and that You will lead her step by step. In the name of Jesus we pray, amen.
