Prayer for divine Counsel

Anonymous

Beloved of All
I need Divine counsel from Christ regarding a battle and my needs. He is the Advocate with the Father.

We come before the throne of grace with heavy hearts, seeking the divine counsel of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, who alone is our Advocate with the Father. We acknowledge that it is only through His name that we have access to the Father, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved (Acts 4:12). If you have not yet placed your trust in Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior, we urge you to confess your sins, believe in His death and resurrection, and surrender your life to Him. For "if you will confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved" (Romans 10:9).

Now, let us lift up this battle and these needs before our Heavenly Father, who is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble (Psalm 46:1). We recognize that the struggles we face are not against flesh and blood, but against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places (Ephesians 6:12). Therefore, we must put on the whole armor of God, that we may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.

First, we rebuke any fear, anxiety, or doubt that may be gripping your heart. The Lord has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and self-control (2 Timothy 1:7). We declare that you are more than a conqueror through Him who loved you (Romans 8:37). We pray that the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your heart and mind in Christ Jesus (Philippians 4:7).

Father, we ask for Your divine wisdom and counsel in this situation. Your Word tells us that if any of us lacks wisdom, we should ask of You, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to us (James 1:5). We pray that You would illuminate Your truth and guide every decision, every step, and every word. Let Your Holy Spirit lead and direct, for Your Word says, "Your word is a lamp to my feet, and a light for my path" (Psalm 119:105).

We also lift up the specific needs mentioned in this request. We know that You are Jehovah Jireh, our Provider, and that You will supply every need according to Your riches in glory in Christ Jesus (Philippians 4:19). We ask that You would open the windows of heaven and pour out a blessing so great that there will not be room enough to receive it (Malachi 3:10). Whether the need is financial, emotional, physical, or spiritual, we trust in Your faithfulness to provide.

Lord, we rebuke any lies of the enemy that may be telling you that you are alone, that your situation is hopeless, or that God has abandoned you. We declare that You are near to the brokenhearted and save those who have a contrite spirit (Psalm 34:18). We proclaim that the Lord is your Shepherd, and you shall not be in want (Psalm 23:1). We stand on the promise that He who began a good work in you will complete it until the day of Jesus Christ (Philippians 1:6).

We also encourage you to spend time in God’s Word and in prayer, for the battle belongs to the Lord (1 Samuel 17:47). Meditate on Scriptures that speak to your situation, and let the truth of God’s Word renew your mind (Romans 12:2). Surround yourself with godly believers who can pray with you, encourage you, and hold you accountable. Remember, "iron sharpens iron, and one man sharpens another" (Proverbs 27:17).

Let us now pray together:

Heavenly Father, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, our Advocate and our Redeemer. We thank You that You are our Counselor, our Strength, and our Deliverer. Lord, we lift up this battle and these needs to You, knowing that nothing is too hard for You. We ask for Your divine wisdom to guide every decision and every step. We rebuke the enemy’s lies and declare that no weapon formed against us shall prosper (Isaiah 54:17).

Father, we ask that You would meet every need according to Your glorious riches. Provide comfort for the weary, strength for the weak, and hope for the discouraged. Let Your peace, which surpasses all understanding, guard this heart and mind in Christ Jesus. We declare that You are faithful, and You will do it (1 Thessalonians 5:24).

Lord, we pray for a fresh outpouring of Your Holy Spirit upon this life. Fill them with Your power, Your love, and Your sound mind. Let them walk in the victory that is already theirs through the blood of Jesus. We thank You for hearing our prayer and for moving on behalf of Your child. In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen.

We’re holding this before the Lord with you. When you’re in a battle and your needs feel pressing, it’s a relief to remember that you don’t have to figure everything out alone. Jesus truly is your Advocate, He stands with you, He understands the weight you’re carrying, and He delights in giving you the counsel you need.

Sometimes the clearest direction comes when we stop striving and simply lay the whole messy situation before Him, a bit at a time. You might try setting aside a quiet half-hour, maybe with a notebook, and putting into words exactly what this battle looks like and what those needs are, nothing too tidy, just honest. Ask Him to speak through the flow of your own thoughts, through memories of Scripture, or through a settled sense of peace about one thing at a time. Often we find that what felt like a tangled knot begins to loosen as we bring it into His presence.

We’re praying with you now.

Lord Jesus, our faithful Advocate with the Father, thank You that You are near when the fight is hard and the needs are many. You see every detail of this battle and You care more than we can fathom. Quiet the inner noise and give this dear one ears to hear Your voice. Cut through confusion with the wisdom only You can give, and bring a steady confidence that You are leading. Guard their heart from discouragement, and provide exactly what You know is most needed for this season. We trust You to guide, sustain, and carry them. In Your strong name, amen.

You seek divine counsel from Christ in the midst of a battle, and you do well to remember that He is the Advocate with the Father. I would have you grasp this firmly: if any man sins, we have an Advocate. Not if we are without sin, but if we sin, He stands to plead for us. The very need you feel drives you to Him, for who needs an advocate if no charge is laid against him? Your sense of conflict, of need, is the very thing that sends you to Jesus Christ the righteous. He is not an Advocate for the righteous in themselves, but for sinners who trust in Him. Let your sin be as black as it may, if you believe in Jesus, you have an Advocate, and through Him your cause shall rest and your sin be put away.

In this battle, you must not bind the hands of Christ by seeking pleasure in sin, nor by neglecting His Word. It is a sin of sins that we do not trust Christ at once. Here is the plan of salvation, trust Christ and He will save you. And trust Him also for daily counsel. He has all fullness dwelling in Himself; there has never been brought to Christ a man whom He could not heal. His power can meet all needs in all cases. Go to Him with your battle, and He will give you counsel, for He has overcome the foe. Christ on the cross divided the spoil, and He triumphed over all principalities and powers. The battle may be fierce, but He has already won the victory. Your duty is to follow Christ, for you cannot spread the savor of His name unless you follow Him. Ask Him to show you the path, and He will direct you.

Remember the divine sovereignty in this. There is no attribute more comforting to His children. He delivered you from death, from tears, from falling, and He will deliver you still. Cast yourself upon Him as your Advocate, and do not fear. He is perfectly able to be a Savior because He was made perfect through sufferings. He was bound that you might be free; He was made a curse that you might have the blessing. Trust Him for your needs, and let your first business be to serve Christ. Seek His counsel in His Word and on your knees, and He will not fail you. Go now, and may you hear Him say, “I have yet to speak on God’s behalf” on your behalf, and you shall have the guidance you crave.

May God in Jesus' name answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy. God is so in love with you. Be Encouraged!

Psalm 37:4: Delight yourself in the Lord, And He shall give you the desires of your heart.

Heal Me Lord Jesus Spirit, Soul, And Body

You ask for divine counsel in the midst of a battle, and rightly you turn to Christ, the Advocate with the Father. Yet let me ask you: are you seeking Him with the earnest watchfulness the matter demands? For it is not possible to discover the depth of His will while we are half-asleep; there needs close search and fervent prayer to perceive even a little of what He would show you. If you truly desire His counsel, do not approach as one who already knows the path. Remember that the one who does not think he needs a guide is in extreme misery, and to take up the role of guiding oneself when a greater Guide stands ready is to stumble into a gulf. Humble yourself before Him who sees you under the fig tree, even before you call out. He knows your battle and your needs better than you can name them.

Do not imagine that Christ’s advocacy means He stands before the Father as one who lacks authority. His prayer is for our instruction and condescension, that we might learn to apply ourselves to prayer without ceasing, soberly, and with great watchfulness. He needs not the Father’s permission as a lesser, but He models the posture for you, the soldier under strain. Will you then imitate His perseverance? He has already accomplished the righteousness you could not achieve; He has hung sin upon the cross and displayed the spoils of victory. Your battle, when brought into that light, is part of the conflict whose end is already secured. Yet the grace of the Font will not suffice to save you if you do not, after receiving it, display a life worthy of the Gift. The battle you face now is precisely the place where that worth is forged. He who began a good work in you will perfect it, but your part is to hold fast the crown He gives, not to let it slip through hands slackened by self-reliance.

Consider also the nature of His counsel. It will not flatter your desires or affirm every strategy you devise. He honors us not with empty words but by what He has done, and so we honor Him by works and deeds. The mercy He shows feeds even the unthankful, yet His counsel to you will demand that you yourself become merciful, even in the midst of struggle. If you seek to be blessed like those who assisted the Apostle, know that such blessing comes through tangible service and a life wrenched free from vice. The battle may be fierce, but the trophy of the cross stands glorious and conspicuous. Look there, and you will see where death is crucified and sin defeated. From that vantage, His counsel comes not as a whisper of new strategies but as a command to stand firm in what He has already revealed. Wait upon Him in quietness of soul, refer all past and future to His strength, and you will find that He who perfected the good work of your beginning will also supply the wisdom for every present need.
