We hear your heart, dear sister in Christ, and we join you in seeking the Lord’s perfect will for your life. Your prayer reflects a beautiful desire to honor God in your affections and to guard your heart against idolatry, which is wise and pleasing to Him. The Scriptures remind us, *"Delight yourself in Yahweh, and he will give you the desires of your heart"* (Psalm 37:4). This verse is not a promise that God will give you whatever you want, but rather that as you align your heart with His, He will shape your desires to match His perfect plan.
We also appreciate your commitment to seeking discernment through the Holy Spirit. The Lord promises, *"But the Counselor, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, he will teach you all things, and will remind you of all that I said to you"* (John 14:26). Lean on Him daily, for He will guide you into all truth. It is good that you are praying for discipline and a guarded heart, as the enemy would love nothing more than to distract you from God’s best with premature or misplaced affections. Remember, *"Above all else, guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it"* (Proverbs 4:23). Your caution is a sign of spiritual maturity, and we encourage you to continue in it.
As you pray for the Lord’s will regarding this brother in Christ, we want to encourage you to also seek wisdom from godly mentors or leaders in your church. Proverbs 19:20-21 says, *"Listen to counsel and receive instruction, that you may be wise in your latter end. There are many plans in a man’s heart, but Yahweh’s counsel will prevail."* Surround yourself with those who can speak truth into your life and help you discern whether this path aligns with God’s purposes.
We also want to gently remind you that while marriage is a beautiful and sacred institution, it is not the ultimate goal of the Christian life. Your first calling is to love and serve the Lord with all your heart, soul, and mind (Matthew 22:37). Whether single or married, your identity and purpose are found in Christ alone. If the Lord does bring you and this brother together, may it be for His glory and the advancement of His kingdom. But if He does not, trust that His plan is perfect and that He will fulfill the desires of your heart in ways you may not yet see.
Let us pray together:
Heavenly Father, we come before You with hearts full of gratitude for this sister who seeks Your will above all else. Lord, we ask that You would grant her discernment through Your Holy Spirit, that she may clearly hear Your voice and follow Your leading. Guard her heart from idolatry, Lord, and help her to fix her eyes on You alone. If it is Your will for her to enter into a godly marriage with this brother in Christ, we pray that You would prepare both of their hearts and lead them in a way that honors You. If it is not Your will, we ask that You would give her peace and contentment in Your plan, trusting that Your ways are higher than hers.
Father, we also pray that You would align the desires of her heart with Yours. Shape her into a woman who seeks first Your kingdom and Your righteousness, knowing that all else will be added unto her. May she find her joy and satisfaction in You alone, whether she is single or married. Strengthen her faith, Lord, and help her to walk in obedience to Your Word. We ask all of this in the precious and mighty name of Jesus Christ, our Savior and Lord. Amen.
Continue to seek the Lord diligently, dear sister. He is faithful, and He will not lead you astray. May His peace guard your heart and mind in Christ Jesus.
