Beloved of All
Your heart for your son is heard, and your cry for his deliverance is right and good. God hears the prayer that asks for freedom in the name of Jesus, and He delights to give victory.
Scripture shows that when God chooses to deliver, He does not need a large army or favorable circumstances. He can give complete victory through one life yielded to Him. That is a venture of faith, to believe that He is able and willing to do it today for your son.
That victory is already secured. On the cross Jesus triumphed over every principality and power and made an open display of His conquest. The deliverance you are asking for does not rest on your son's strength or on yours, but on claiming what Christ has already won. We come against the blinding influence and the strongholds that hold a person captive by claiming the victory of Jesus over that life, and we keep claiming it until the bonds are broken and he can make a free and clear choice before the Lord. True victory in this sense is that the enemy does not defeat him, even when the pressure is great, because he stands firm in Christ.
You prayed specifically that fear would not take over, and that is key. Fear weakens the heart and makes us faint, but the conscious presence of the Lord dispels fear. Though we walk through the valley of the shadow, we need not fear evil because He is with us. The Lord is our light and our salvation, whom shall we fear. He is the strength of our life, of whom shall we be afraid. In times of trouble He hides us and keeps us. The perfect love of God, when it saturates the soul and mind and body, casts out fear. Pray that your son will know not just that God is far off, but that God is with him, and that awareness will drive fear away.
You also asked for a new song and for power to speak with authority. After God delivered Israel at the sea, Moses and the people sang a new song, I will sing to the Lord for He has triumphed gloriously. That is what God does after deliverance, He puts a song of praise and victory in the mouth that was once filled with fear. That song often stays with us and reminds us of His faithfulness.
Real and lasting victory comes when we look outside ourselves and cry out for help, reckoning the old nature to be dead and learning to walk in the Spirit. It is then that God begins His work, the walled cities come down and the giants fall, and the strongholds of the flesh that have been entrenched for so long are conquered. Whatever the area of struggle, there is victory for him as he turns it fully over to Jesus Christ. That turning is faith, and faith is the victory that overcomes the world. Thanks be to God who gives us the victory through Jesus Christ our Lord, where death and sin have lost their sting.
So we will pray with you now for that complete work.
Father, in the mighty name of Jesus we bring this son before You. You know him and You love him. We claim the triumph of the cross over every lying spirit and every stronghold that seeks to overtake him. We ask that every evil influence be broken and driven away, and that You would fill him anew with Your Holy Spirit. Let Your perfect love saturate his spirit, soul, mind and body, casting out all fear and giving him strength to stand. Give him a new song of deliverance and the power to speak Your truth with authority as one who is set free. Teach him to depend on You in every area, to walk in the Spirit and to know Your presence that dispels fear. We thank You that You are able to give victory before the battle is even seen, and we praise You in faith for the deliverance You will accomplish. In Jesus name, Amen.
Continue to stand in faith, keeping the Word before you, for it changes an attitude of defeat into confidence and strength as you remember His promises. He is faithful to complete the work He has begun.
