Prayer for bad dreams

We join with you in prayer concerning these troubling dreams about black magic affecting your father and others, and we ask our Heavenly Father to grant you peaceful and restful sleep in Jesus' mighty name. We are thankful you have come in the name of Jesus, for it is only through Him that we have access to the Father and find protection and peace, as it is written John 14:6 and Acts 4:12.
We understand how distressing and fearful such dreams can be, but we want to encourage you that those who are in Christ need not live in fear of darkness or sorcery. The word of God teaches us that black magic and sorcery are real but they have no power over those who belong to Jesus, for greater is he who is in you than he who is in the world 1 John 4:4. The Lord has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and self-control 2 Timothy 1:7, and we are called to submit ourselves to God, resist the devil and he will flee from us James 4:7. God also calls all forms of sorcery an abomination Deuteronomy 18:10-12, yet He is our refuge and fortress.
We are reminded that God desires to give His beloved sleep and peace. When you lie down, you will not be afraid. Yes, you will lie down, and your sleep will be sweet Proverbs 3:24. In peace I will both lay myself down and sleep, for you, Yahweh alone, make me live in safety Psalm 4:8. He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty Psalm 91:1. We can put on the whole armor of God, that we may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil, for our wrestling is not against flesh and blood Ephesians 6:11-12.

Father in heaven, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus Christ and we lift up this dear one to Your throne of grace. We encourage you to make prayer and the word of God the last thing on your mind before you sleep. Read scripture aloud, pray out loud in the name of Jesus, and even play quiet worship or scripture as you fall asleep. Turn away from any involvement with occult practices, images, or media that may open doors to fear, and keep your heart and home centered on Christ. If the dreams persist, continue to bring them to the Lord in prayer and share them with a mature Christian believer for support, remembering that God is faithful to give rest to His people Psalm 127:2 and Isaiah 41:10.

Thank you for telling us about these dreams. Waking up afraid, especially when the dreams involve your father and others you love, can leave you tired and on edge the next day. We hear how much you want peaceful sleep again.

You might try turning off anything troubling before bed, keeping the room quiet and dark, and taking a few minutes to pray simply, by name, handing your father and loved ones over to Jesus care and asking for His peace over your home through the night. If the bad dreams continue and leave you exhausted or very anxious in the day, it is also wise to talk with a pastor you trust and with your doctor alongside prayer.

We do take the same advice as the other two Apostles, resist AND take up Your Armor and stand against, stand, stand firm against the schemes of darkness, by faith and patience we inherit the promises, Heb 6:12. We pray it over ourselves first, in submission to Your Word, even as it was the proper example and pattern of Christ, overcoming the devil first on for His own sake in the wilderness, Mt 4:1-11, Mk 1:12-13, Lk 4:1-13, then overcoming the world, flesh and devil 
for the sake of the world, John 16:33.
Knowing it's proper in airplane trips to be admonished to first place the oxygen mask over our own faces prior to assisting others, we pray the following Armor, Your Armor, The Armor of God, on ourselves, Eph 6:10-17, then for others, Eph 6:18-20, applied by faith, as we receive everything else in the same manner, from salvation, Eph 2:8-9, to answered prayer, Mark 11:24, Heb 11:6, James 1:6...

Your request concerning these evil dreams and the fear for your father has been heard, and we bring it before the Lord with you.
You speak of bad dreams and thoughts of black magic, and of broken sleep. Be assured that sleep is the gift of God, and He giveth His beloved sleep. We do not lay our heads upon our pillows and sleep by mere nature, but by His gracious hand. When fear comes in the night, remember that your life, if you are in Christ, is hidden with Christ and you are free from fear, since all your interests are secure in Him.
The fear that God has forsaken you or that some dark power can prevail against those who belong to Him is an arrow often shot at the troubled soul. Yet hear what the Lord saith to His own, Fear not, for I am with thee, be not dismayed, for I am thy God. And again, Fear not, thou worm Jacob, I will help thee, saith the Lord. It is Jesus Himself who whispers to His poor servant fallen as dead at His feet, Fear not. To give way to fear dishonors God, as though the arm which piled the heavens could be palsied, and it weakens the soul. Labor then to get rid of fear by trusting His promised strength.
No enchantment can stand against the deliverance wrought by the Lord Jesus Christ. He has found a ransom and has brought His people forth with an effectual deliverance. If you have cast yourself upon God in Christ, you are free indeed, and no power of darkness can separate you from His love or pluck you from His hand. The archers may shoot, but in Christ we are rid of every fear.
Therefore we pray for you and for your father and for those upon your heart.
O Lord our God, who art the keeper of Thy people by night and by day, look in mercy upon this Thy child troubled with dreams and fearful thoughts. Drive away all fear and perplexity, and let Thy perfect love cast out fear. Cover this home with Thy peace, and guard the father and loved ones from all evil, for Thou art their shield and exceeding great reward. Grant the quiet sleep of security and of refreshment, for Thou givest Thy beloved sleep. Draw this soul to the mercy seat, for Thou lovest the mercy seat and art there to hear prayer. Let this night and every night be spent under Thy watchful eye, and awaken the heart to declare the works of the Lord, that whether we sleep or wake we may rest in Jesus. Keep that which has been committed unto Thee, and let no fear by night prevail, but let the soul know whom it has believed and be persuaded that Thou art able to keep it. Prayer Focus: God, Thank You for loving me. Thank You for loving me, Jesus. God, I ask You in Jesus’ name please bless me with everything that I stand in need of and everything You want me to have. God bless me to prosper, walk in excellent health, and never stop growing in the love, grace, wisdom, and knowledge of Christ Jesus. God bless me to know You in truth, fall in love with You with all my heart, mind, soul, body, and strength and never fall out of love with You. God, bless me to have an ever growing closer stronger, more intimate relationship with You. Bless me with the love, desire, strength, and the spirit of obedience to always delight myself in You, seek first Your kingdom, Your righteousness, and to always respect and obey You. Bless me to know You, the way You want me to know You. So that I will trust You with my life and anyway that You move in my life. Bless me to trust You with all my heart, lean not to my own understanding, acknowledge You in all my ways, and allow You to direct my footsteps and actions. Bless me with knowledge, wisdom, and understanding in all You have called me to do.
God heal me in every area of my life. Deliver and cleanse me of everything in my life that doesn't honor You. Transform and renew my mind. Bless me with love, power, and a sound mind. Prayer Focus: God, Thank You for loving me. Thank You for loving me, Jesus. God, I ask You in Jesus’ name please bless me with everything that I stand in need of and everything You want me to have. God bless me to prosper, walk in excellent health, and never stop growing in the love, grace, wisdom, and knowledge of Christ Jesus. God bless me to know You in truth, fall in love with You with all my heart, mind, soul, body, and strength and never fall out of love with You.
