It is a small mercy you ask, that a troublesome person be quickly dealt with, yet I perceive a greater need behind it, both for your own soul and for that of the one who vexes you. Our God is slow to anger, and the lictor of divine justice carries his axe bound up in a bundle of rods; he will not cut off men until he has reproved them, that they may repent. When we cry out for swift removal, we may be forgetting the patience He has shown toward us.
Is it not possible that the Lord is giving this erring neighbor space to be dealt with by a gentler hand? The cloud of justice was charged with fiery hail on Calvary, and it spent itself upon the Substitute, so that now God can be just and the justifier of him that believeth. Pray rather that this person would have his eyes opened to that great satisfaction, not that he be merely swept from your path. Has he not an immortal soul? You have dropped words in season to others, might not this be your call to do so again, or to bear witness through patient endurance?
Do not take up the quarrel as your own, lest you become a judge in a matter where you cannot see the heart. Justice itself prevents, for when Justice has been satisfied in Christ, it were injustice to demand more from a repentant man, but for the impenitent, he will not at all acquit the wicked. Yet the final reckoning belongs to the Greater Minister of Justice alone. Be slow to anger, even as your Father in heaven is slow. Perhaps your silent, prayerful patience may be the first sermon he ever hears. Commend him to God, and leave the parking space to His ordering.

Your request for prayer reveals a heart troubled by a neighbor’s actions, yet we must be careful what we ask of God. He is not a God of war and fighting, but of peace. He calls us to be peacemakers, that we might be called His children. Rather than praying for the person to be quickly dealt with, as if they were an enemy, let us first seek to quiet our own spirit. Consider whether this parking issue truly wounds you, or if it is only a small earthly inconvenience. If someone has taken your spot, have they stolen your true treasure? No one can pluck away the honor that comes from God. So do not let this small thing stir up conflict, for enmity drives us far from God.
Remember that often we bite and devour one another over petty grievances, like those who wrong and accuse and are vexed at a neighbor’s credit. But if you desire mercy from the Lord, you must first show mercy. Pray instead that God would soften both your heart and theirs, that a quiet resolution may come. Do not rush into the fight, but if the conflict is unavoidable, then stand nobly. Yet until then, it is greater virtue to be at peace even with those who seem to war against you. For nothing delights God so much as refusing to remember evil.

The parking frustrations you are facing right now are exactly the kind of daily trial where the Lord wants to show us how real His commands are. We often think loving our neighbor is about grand gestures, but most of the time it comes down to how we respond when someone’s car blocks our way or takes the spot we were waiting for. I am praying for you, but I am praying that your heart would be guarded by the truth, not just that the other person would be “quickly dealt with.”
Everything God asks of us toward others is summed up in this: you shall love your neighbor as yourself. Love does not work any ill toward a neighbor. That means if we are loving them the way we love ourselves, we won’t be scheming about their swift removal or speaking badly about them to the manager or to other tenants. We will seek to benefit them, even when they are being inconvenient. That can feel impossible in the moment, but the Spirit gives us the power to live this way.
I know how parking issues can become a battleground. I have seen a parking lot slowly turn a whole group of people against each other, with everyone biting and devouring one another until the whole place is consumed by bitterness. That is not our calling. If this person is truly in the wrong, there are proper and peaceful ways to address it. The Scripture gives a principle for resolving disputes between neighbors: both parties should come before those in authority, and the matter can be settled rightly. A calm word with your landlord or a kind note left on the windshield, assuming you are safe to do so, can often do what a frustrated demand never could.
Remember the question the lawyer asked Jesus: “Who is my neighbor?” His answer was not “the one who thinks like you” or “the one who never annoys you.” It was the one in need, the one right in front of you. The person causing the problem is your neighbor. You do not yet know what is going on in their life. They might be careless, they might be thoughtless, or they might be struggling with a burden that has nothing to do with a parking space. Before you make a solid judgment, get the facts. I have learned to file some things in my mind under “wait for further information,” and this is one of those times.
If they truly are just acting arrogantly, you still have an opportunity to overcome evil with good. That might mean choosing to walk a little farther without a grumble, treating it as service done for the Lord. It might mean going to them privately with a gracious tone, speaking the truth in love rather than letting a grudge grow. But be careful you are not trusting in your own anger. The prophet Jeremiah described a society where no one could trust a neighbor because everyone walked with slanders and spoke peaceably with their mouth while lying in wait in their heart. Do not let that spirit take root in your home or your heart. Instead, show mercy, because you have been shown so much mercy.
I am asking the Lord to give you wisdom. May He protect you from a vindictive spirit and instead fill you with a love that patiently works things out. Pray for that person by name if you know it, not just about them. A resolution will come, and when it does, let it be one where your own soul remains free from resentment and your witness remains bright. That would be far greater than simply getting your parking spot back.
