Prayer for a friend

Disciple of Prayer
Dear Heavenly Father,

I lift up my friend who seems distant and doesn't reply to messages as they once did

You know their struggles and trials that they face and perhaps there is a shame going on that the enemy has caused them to retreat, but You Lord wash this shame away by the blood of Jesus according to 1 John 1:7

Lord we pray for this dear one that You are able to remove the sting of shame the enemy has projected in their mind to cause them to disappear from others

I pray You help them to remember the power of blood of Jesus in washing and cleansing sin away in Jesus' name

I also pray that You bring deliverance to their emotions and bring a sense of God's peace and joy again in Jesus' name

I pray against mind warfare and ask You heal their wounds in Jesus' name

Thank You Lord for answered prayer in Jesus' name

We thank you for sharing this burden for your friend and we join you in lifting this dear one before the throne of grace in Jesus name. We are encouraged by your compassionate heart that reflects the love of a true friend, for the scripture says a friend loves at all times Proverbs 17:17 and we are called to bear one another's burdens Galatians 6:2. Your discernment that distance and silence may be rooted in shame and spiritual warfare is wise, and we stand with you in prayer against the lies of the enemy.

We agree with you that the blood of Jesus cleanses and restores. The word tells us but if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus Christ, his Son, cleanses us from all sin 1 John 1:7. There is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus Romans 8:1. The enemy seeks to accuse and isolate, but we know the weapons of our warfare are not of the flesh, but mighty before God to the throwing down of strongholds 2 Corinthians 10:4 and we are to bring every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ 2 Corinthians 10:5. The shame that causes your friend to retreat is not from the Lord, for He heals the broken in heart, and binds up their wounds Psalm 147:3.

We pray together now.

Father, in the name of Jesus Christ we lift up this precious friend to You. You know their struggles, their trials, and the hidden wounds that have caused them to withdraw. Lord, we ask that You wash away every stain of shame by the blood of Jesus and let them know deeply that they are forgiven and cleansed. Remove the sting of accusation that the enemy has projected into their mind and break every chain of mind warfare that keeps them in isolation. We pray You deliver their emotions from heaviness and fear and fill them anew with Your peace that surpasses all understanding Philippians 4:7 and with Your joy. Heal their wounds, Lord, and draw them back into fellowship with You and with those who love them. Remind them that You have not given a spirit of fear but of power and love and self control 2 Timothy 1:7 and that You will never leave them nor forsake them. Let Your perfect love cast out fear 1 John 4:18. We thank You that You are close to the brokenhearted Psalm 34:18 and that You strengthen those who feel weak and distant, for You have said do not be afraid, for I am with you Isaiah 41:10.

We encourage you to continue to reach out with gentle grace and patient love without pressure or condemnation, committing your friend to the Lord in prayer and trusting His timing. Continue to intercede and speak truth over them, that they are loved, forgiven, and not forgotten. The Lord is faithful to complete the work He has begun and He is able to restore joy and connection in His perfect way. We trust with you for answered prayer and for your friend to experience the freedom and peace that comes only through Jesus Christ.

We pray all this in the mighty and cleansing name of Jesus, amen.

Thank you for loving your friend so faithfully and bringing them before the Lord in this quiet season. It is painful when someone you care about grows distant and messages go unanswered, and we hear your care and concern in the way you are praying for them.

We have seen how shame and heavy thoughts can make a person pull back even from people who care for them. Withdrawing can feel like protection when someone feels exposed or overwhelmed, and it does not always mean the friendship is not valued. Feelings are real and powerful, but they do not always show what is true about a person or about God's care for them.

One gentle way to stay connected is to keep any reach-out simple and low pressure. A brief note that you are thinking of them and continuing to pray, with no need for a long reply, can keep the door open with kindness while giving them room. Continuing to carry them in steady prayer, as you are already doing, is itself a faithful way to love them through this time.

We are joining you in prayer for both of you and asking God to give you wisdom and patience as you wait.

Father, we lift this friend to You and ask You to bring peace, healing for wounded places, and freedom from shame. Draw them close to You and restore joy in Your presence. Give our friend who is praying wisdom to know how to love well and to trust You with what they cannot see. In Jesus' name, amen.

Lord Jesus please richly bless, protect and guide them. Please help them in accordance with your perfect will Father. Thank you and praise you. In your holy name I pray. Amen.

Your prayer for your absent friend is itself a mark of true friendship, and it is a work in which the Lord Jesus delights, for He is that Friend who proved His friendship by laying down His life.

You have done well to plead the blood of Jesus Christ, for as it is written, the blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanses us from all sin. Remember what has been set before you concerning our Lord, that He gave His back to the smiters and hid not His face from shame and spitting. He did not hide His face, but voluntarily bore the shame, and therefore our shame is ended, for He has borne it. There is merit sufficient in His precious death to put away all transgression and iniquity. When the enemy would project shame upon the mind to cause a soul to retreat and hide, we may answer that Christ has already despised the shame and endured the cross for the joy set before Him, and He now looks with pity upon those who are cast down.

Think of Peter, for his story is not so much his fall as his restoration. He denied his Lord and went out, but the Lord had prayed for him, and a look from the Lord severed him from the crowd and broke his heart. That look said, though you have denied Me, yet I have borne this grief and shame for you. By the crowing of the cock and by that gracious look, Peter was brought to weeping and then to full restoration, till the Lord Himself gave him the threefold charge to feed His sheep. The man who sinned through shame became afterward the bravest of the company. So it may be with your friend. The Lord Jesus still prays for His own, and He will win His suit with the Father, and He can uplift a soul from among the siftings where Satan has thrown him.

True friendship lives by communion. As friendship with Christ is maintained by His revealing Himself to His people and their telling out their hearts to Him, so earthly friendship withers when there is no communion. Pray then that the Lord will restore to your friend that communion with Himself first, and then with His people. Shame itself, when rightly felt, may become a blessed thing if it drives a soul to seek the name of the Lord, for when a man has lost his own good opinion of himself he often flees to Christ and finds there a humble faith and peace.

Let us together bring your friend before the throne of grace.

O Heavenly Father, You know the struggles and trials of this dear one who has grown distant, and You see the wounds and the warfare of the mind. We plead the blood of Jesus Christ, which cleanses from all sin, to wash away every stain of shame, for Christ has borne shame and spitting that our shame might be ended. Look upon this wandering one as Jesus looked upon Peter, with a look of love that restores and severs from the crowd of accusers. Deliver the emotions from oppression, heal the wounds, and rebuke the assaults of the enemy upon the mind. Grant again a sense of Your peace and joy, and draw this soul into close fellowship with Christ, who is our familiar Friend and ever lives to intercede. Bring restoration, we beseech You, and in Your time restore also the comfort of Christian fellowship. We thank You for answered prayer, trusting not in our words but in the prevailing intercession of Jesus, in whose name we pray, Amen.

Continue in prayer, and keep the door of your heart open in love, for the Lord who taught you to overcome evil with good will also teach you to prevail with Him who is Goodness itself by simple looking to Him for all things.
