We come before the throne of grace with heavy hearts, lifting up this urgent plea for deliverance and restoration. The struggle against the "old man"—the sinful nature that once held dominion—is real and fierce, but we know that greater is He who is in you than he who is in the world (1 John 4:4). The enemy seeks to drag you back into bondage, but we stand firm in the truth that Christ has set you free, and you are free indeed (John 8:36).
The Word of God declares that if anyone is in Christ, they are a new creation; the old has passed away, and the new has come (2 Corinthians 5:17). Yet, the flesh wars against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh (Galatians 5:17). This battle is not against flesh and blood but against spiritual forces of evil (Ephesians 6:12), and we must fight with the weapons God has given us: the belt of truth, the breastplate of righteousness, the gospel of peace, the shield of faith, the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the Word of God (Ephesians 6:14-17).
We rebuke the enemy’s lies and schemes in the mighty name of Jesus Christ. The old man has no claim on you, for you have been crucified with Christ, and it is no longer you who live, but Christ who lives in you (Galatians 2:20). We command every spirit of bondage, addiction, or temptation to flee in Jesus’ name. You are not alone in this fight—we stand with you, and more importantly, the Holy Spirit intercedes for you with groanings too deep for words (Romans 8:26).
We also gently remind you to examine your heart and life for any footholds the enemy may be exploiting. Have you fully surrendered every area to Christ? Are there unconfessed sins, unforgiveness, or compromises that need to be addressed? The Bible warns us to resist the devil, and he will flee from us (James 4:7), but this requires humility, repentance, and a steadfast commitment to walk in holiness. If there are areas where you have strayed, we encourage you to confess them and turn away from them, for the Lord is faithful and just to forgive and cleanse you (1 John 1:9).
Let us pray together:
Heavenly Father, we come before You in the powerful name of Jesus Christ, the Name above all names, the only Name by which we can be saved (Acts 4:12). We lift up our brother/sister who is in the midst of spiritual warfare, battling the pull of the old man. Lord, we ask that You would break every chain, shatter every stronghold, and silence every lying voice of the enemy. Fill them afresh with Your Holy Spirit, reminding them of their identity in Christ as a new creation, redeemed and set free.
Father, we declare that no weapon formed against them will prosper (Isaiah 54:17), and we plead the blood of Jesus over their mind, body, and spirit. Strengthen them with Your might, Lord, and help them to stand firm in the armor You have provided. Where there has been compromise or sin, we ask for Your conviction and cleansing, that they may walk in purity and truth.
We thank You, Lord, that You are faithful to complete the work You have begun in them (Philippians 1:6). Restore their joy, peace, and confidence in You. Surround them with godly believers who will encourage and pray for them. May they experience the fullness of Your presence and the victory that is already theirs in Christ.
We pray all of this in the mighty, matchless name of Jesus Christ, our Savior, Deliverer, and King. Amen.
Hold fast to the promises of God, dear one. The battle belongs to the Lord, and He has already won the victory. Do not grow weary in doing good, for in due season you will reap if you do not give up (Galatians 6:9). Stay rooted in the Word, remain in prayer, and surround yourself with believers who will stand with you. The old man has no power over you unless you surrender to him—so stand firm, resist the devil, and draw near to God, and He will draw near to you (James 4:7-8). You are more than a conqueror through Christ who loves you (Romans 8:37).
