Prayer against Oppression

Your prayer has been heard and I thank God for the honesty and hunger for Him that you have shown in it. To ask for direction, to ask for love and guidance even if you are the one in error, is a mark of a humble heart, and God does not despise such a heart.

You have spoken of being under a negative influence and then being placed in a better atmosphere where you had clarity and were respected. Give thanks for that clarity, for it is God who lifts us from confusion into peace. You are right that making others feel small is not good. The Lord calls us to honor others, to speak with grace, and to maintain peace as far as it depends on us. Do not be troubled when others tell you that you are too nice. Kindness, gentleness and respect are not weakness. They are the fruit of the Spirit, and to be respectable and to keep your peace is to walk in wisdom.

You also shared the pain of being around people who bring out the worst in you, and that one of them is the one who gave you life. This is a heavy burden. Scripture commands us to honor our father and mother, and it also teaches us to guard our hearts and to walk wisely. It is possible to honor a parent while also setting needful boundaries for your peace and for your walk with Christ. Pray for her, seek peace where you can, but do not let any relationship, even a close one, draw you away from obedience to the Lord or into patterns of anger and strife. Seek counsel from mature believers near you who can help you discern how to love well without returning to what harms you.

You spoke of attacks against your relationships and your family and children, and you are right to bring this to the Lord. Our struggle is spiritual, and the enemy does seek to steal and destroy. Yet remember what has been taught, that Christ Himself has become our merciful and faithful High Priest to make reconciliation for the sins of the people, and that by Himself He purged our sins and sat down at the right hand of Majesty. No assignment of the enemy is stronger than the blood of Jesus. Continue to put on the armor of God, to pray in the name of Jesus, to walk in forgiveness and truth, and to trust not in your own strength but in Him who alone saves.

You said you are disturbed and ridiculed for your beliefs and for how and where you worship, and mocked even when you try to make peace because the Word tells you to do so. Do not be surprised at this. The Lord told us this would come, and many before us were persecuted for doing what was right. As it is written, God has given us the word of reconciliation, and that same ministry of reconciliation is what you are seeking when you try to make peace. Even if others mock you, to seek peace is pleasing to God. No one else can choose for you where or how you worship. Worship must be according to Scripture and conscience before God, not according to the pressure of others. Continue to seek a faithful church where Christ is preached, where the Word is honored, and where you can be built up.

Let me pray for you.

Father in the name of Jesus, I bring this dear one before Your throne of grace. You see the oppression and the weariness, and You know the desire for direction. Grant clarity and wisdom, and lead by Your Holy Spirit into the right paths. Cover this family and these children with Your protection, and break every scheme of the enemy against their relationships. Heal what has been wounded, especially where there is pain with a parent, and teach how to love and honor while walking in truth and peace. Strengthen this heart to not grow weary in doing good, to remain kind and respectful even when ridiculed, and to find joy in being mocked for Your name. Give courage to worship You according to Your Word without fear of man, and give grace to pursue reconciliation where it honors You. Reveal any area of error with gentleness and lead into full repentance and restoration through Jesus Christ alone, who is our only hope and our High Priest. Fill this home with Your love, Your guidance and Your peace that passes understanding. Amen.

Stay close to the Lord in prayer and in the Scriptures each day. Keep walking in peace, keep guarding your heart, and keep trusting that God who had compassion on us when we were without hope will continue to guide you now more than ever.

Your prayer has been heard and taken seriously, and your desire for God's direction in the midst of oppression is pleasing to Him. You have been honest about the influences around you, the hurt that comes even from family, and the attacks you sense against your relationships, and God sees all of it. He also sees your hunger for peace, for clarity, and for a place where you are respected.

It is good that you have recognized that making others feel small is wrong, and that you want to maintain peace without doing that to anyone. Being kind and respectful is not a flaw. The world may tell you that you are too nice as if kindness were weakness, but kindness, gentleness and respect reflect the character of Christ. At the same time, wisdom is needed to know when to set healthy boundaries. You can honor a parent and still recognize when being around that person brings out the worst in you. Love does not require you to remain in an atmosphere that pulls you away from Christ or harms your peace. Seeking an environment where you can think clearly, be respected, and worship freely is right and necessary.

You spoke of negative influence and demonic assignments against your family and children and your desire to bind those attacks. Scripture teaches that the spiritual battle is real. Evil spirits are intelligent and active, and they can influence people and stir up strife, division and destruction in relationships and even in those who hold power. Yet they are not without limits. God sets boundaries on what they can do, and He seals and keeps His own. Our protection is not in formulas or in fear, but in abiding in Jesus Christ, watching over our lives and keeping our garments clean through His blood. He was made to be sin for us, though He knew no sin, so that in Him we might become the righteousness of God. In His name and by His blood we have authority to stand against the enemy, to pray for our households, and to walk in light with no fellowship with darkness.

You also shared that you are mocked for how and where you worship, and mocked even when you try to make peace after stepping away from what was not right. Do not think this is strange. The Bible tells us that all who desire to live a godly life in Christ Jesus will face opposition. The world often persecutes those who seek to follow Him, and that persecution has its source in the world system. History shows that such pressure does not destroy true faith. It refines it. It separates what is real from what is not, it deepens faith, and it binds believers together in greater love. God also uses even hard seasons and scattering for good, to strengthen you and to spread His work through you. He sees the suffering that comes for His name's sake, and when He judges, His judgment will be perfectly righteous. He will vindicate those who have been mistreated for doing what is right.

The Lord's call to pursue peace and reconciliation is also real. You are right to want to try to make peace as far as it depends on you, as the Word instructs. That does not mean you must return to what was wrong or deny your convictions. No one else can choose for you how you will worship Jesus, for salvation is through Him alone. You can seek peace with others while remaining firm in your faith, and you can leave the outcome to God when others choose to ridicule you.

For direction going forward, stay close to Jesus through His Word and prayer, and stay connected to believers who build you up and encourage your faith and love. Ask God daily to guide your steps, to guard your family and children, and to give you discernment about relationships that help you walk with Him and those that pull you away. Where you need to set limits, do so with grace and truth, not with harshness. Continue to pray for those who have hurt you, including family, and entrust them to God.

Let us pray together. Father, in the name of Jesus, I bring this dear one before You. You know the oppression that has been felt, the weariness, and the longing for Your direction. Grant clarity and wisdom, and lead into a healthy atmosphere where faith can grow. Cover this family and these children with Your protection, and break every assignment of the enemy against their relationships. Strengthen this heart to walk in kindness without being drawn into strife, to honor You above the opinions of others, and to endure mocking for Your name with grace. Fill this life with Your love, Your peace, and Your guidance, and help each step to be ordered by You. Though there may be persecution for living for Christ, let faith grow exceedingly and love abound. Keep this one watching and abiding in Christ, clothed in His righteousness, until You bring full deliverance. Amen.
