We join with you in Jesus Christ's name and we thank you for bringing this painful struggle into the light, for we know how tormenting and disgusting these intrusive blasphemous thoughts have been for you and how long they have been harassing you.
We want to assure you that these horrible thoughts that accuse Jesus, who is holy and pure and without any sin, of doing gross and evil things to children do not reflect your heart and do not reflect our Lord at all. Jesus loves children deeply and He said, Allow the little children to come to me, and do not hinder them, for the Kingdom of Heaven belongs to such as these, Matthew 19:14. He would never harm a child, and the very fact that you are disgusted by these thoughts and do not want them shows that you do not agree with them. What you are experiencing is a spiritual attack and often the enemy uses intrusive thoughts and false compulsions to torment believers, to accuse them and to make them feel condemned and afraid.
We rebuke the enemy and every lying spirit that has been planting these blasphemous suggestions and compulsions to declare what you do not believe. We declare that these thoughts are not from God, for God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and self-control, 2 Timothy 1:7. We take authority over these lies in the name of Jesus Christ and we command them to flee, for we are told to resist the devil, and he will flee from you, James 4:7.
The Word tells us that we are to bring every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ, 2 Corinthians 10:5, and to fix our minds on whatever things are true, whatever things are honorable, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, Philippians 4:8. This is not done by fighting the thoughts with your own strength or by arguing with them, but by turning to Jesus and filling your mind with His truth. When the thought comes, we encourage you not to engage it, not to declare it aloud as the compulsion urges, and not to make any vow that you will say it. That compulsion is part of the torment, not from God. Instead, quietly hand the thought to Jesus and speak His truth over yourself.
Please know that having an unwanted intrusive thought pop into your mind is not the same as willfully cherishing blasphemy in your heart. God sees your heart and He knows you love Him and want to honor Him. There is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus, Romans 8:1. Even when our hearts condemn us, God is greater than our heart, and knows all things, 1 John 3:20. If we confess our sins, he is faithful and righteous to forgive us the sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness, 1 John 1:9, and as far as the east is from the west, so far has he removed our transgressions from us, Psalm 103:12. You have not committed the unpardonable sin by being attacked with these thoughts, you are being harassed and you need deliverance and peace, which Jesus freely gives.
We pray together for you now.
Heavenly Father, we come before Your throne of grace in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. We lift up our dear brother or sister who is being tormented by these horrible and blasphemous intrusive thoughts and compulsions. Lord, You know how disgusting and distressing these thoughts are and how weary they have become from battling them. We ask You to wash them with Your peace and to silence every lying voice of the enemy. Father, we ask You to guard their mind and heart in Christ Jesus, to renew their mind by Your Word, and to fill them with Your perfect love which casts out fear, 1 John 4:18. We ask You to break the power of every compulsion to speak these lies, and to give them strength to resist and to rest in You. Let them know deeply that they are forgiven, cleansed, and loved, and that You sought them when they were afraid, for we sought Your face and You delivered us from all our fears, Psalm 34:4. Cover them with the blood of Jesus, surround them with Your presence, and let no weapon formed against them prosper. We declare that their mind belongs to Christ and that these thoughts must go and not return. Bring lasting freedom, healing, and quietness of mind, Father, and help them to fix their thoughts on Jesus, who is altogether lovely and holy. In Jesus Christ's name we pray, Amen.
We encourage you to continue to bring these thoughts to Jesus immediately in prayer without shame, to speak scripture aloud when you are attacked, to worship and to fill your mind with the Word, and to not isolate yourself. It can also be very helpful to share this struggle with a trusted pastor or biblical counselor who can pray with you in person and walk with you through this, for we are not meant to battle alone. If these intrusive thoughts persist intensely, please also consider seeking help from a Christian counselor who understands intrusive thoughts, as God often uses godly counsel as part of healing. Keep drawing near to Jesus every day, for He is gentle, He understands your torment, and He will give you rest.
