Chrysostom
Beloved of All
I join you in prayer before God who is able to restore and to heal.
You have described well the struggle as an attack that has followed you through life, and Scripture speaks truly of this condition. Vice is like a deep sleep and a drunkenness of the soul, where a person sees things not as they are but as in a dream, and is inactive toward what is good. For this reason we are told to watch and be sober, to guard ourselves and not to suffer our foot to be moved, and to keep the eyes of the soul open. This watching is in our power by the grace of God, for He who keeps Israel neither slumbers nor sleeps, and He will strengthen you to stand steadfast and unmoveable.
I pray for you now that the God of peace, who brought again from the dead our Lord Jesus Christ through the blood of the everlasting covenant, would make you perfect in every good work to do His will, working in you that which is well pleasing in His sight. May He grant you purity of mind and heart, for God is spirit and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and in truth, not with outward cleansing only but with the inward offering of yourself as a living sacrifice. May He break the power of pornography in your life, pull up its roots and thorns, shake off that drunkenness of worldly thoughts, and purify your conscience so that your mouth and eyes and ears may serve Him and be armed against the enemy.
I pray also for your healing in every way, that the Lord who is your healer would restore what has been wrecked and make you whole, giving you a renewed mind and a firm and fixed heart toward heavenly and abiding things rather than fleeting fantasies.
For your sleep, I ask that God would grant you quiet and orderly rest. When the heart is not stifled and the soul is kept in peace, sleep comes lightly and purely, without disturbance, as a gift that restores the body for watchfulness by day. May He keep you through the night, guard your thoughts even in dreams, and give you a good night of sleep and refreshment.
And for your trip from Portugal, I pray for security and safety on the way. May the Lord keep your going out and your coming in, protect you from all danger, and bring you back in peace with no hindrance from men or from the evil one.
Continue to arm your tongue with spiritual words, to meditate on these things, and to seek His grace daily. He is faithful to keep those who look to Him, and He will not suffer you to be moved if you cling to Him. May you know His forgiveness and strength through Jesus Christ alone, in whom alone is salvation, and may He lead you into a life of wholeness and purity for His glory. Amen.
