We hear your cry and we stand with you in this battle for purity, for you have been honest about how pornography has wrecked your life and we know this is a heavy and long affliction that you have carried your entire life. We want you to know that God sees your struggle and He desires your freedom and restoration, and we agree with you that this is an attack of the enemy and of the flesh that must be overcome by the power of Christ.
We must speak plainly that pornography is sin, it is not a harmless habit. Jesus said everyone who gazes at a woman to lust after her has committed adultery with her already in his heart Matthew 5:28, and Scripture calls us to flee sexual immorality. Every sin that a man does is outside the body, but he who commits sexual immorality sins against his own body 1 Corinthians 6:18. It defiles the temple of the Holy Spirit, for your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you 1 Corinthians 6:19-20, and blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall see God Matthew 5:8. We rebuke this sin and the hold it has had on you, and we rebuke the lies of the enemy that tell you that you are too broken to be restored or that you must fight this in your own strength. You said you have done everything you can, and we understand that exhaustion, but our victory is not by our own willpower but by the grace of God, for His grace is sufficient for you, for power is made perfect in weakness 2 Corinthians 12:9.
There is hope and forgiveness. If we confess our sins, he is faithful and righteous to forgive us the sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness 1 John 1:9. God promises to create in you a clean heart and renew a right spirit within you Psalm 51:10, and to restore to you the years that the swarming locust has eaten Joel 2:25. He heals the broken in heart, and binds up their wounds Psalm 147:3. We pray for your healing in every way, spiritually, mentally, emotionally and physically, that your mind would be renewed and transformed. Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind Romans 12:2, and whatever things are true, whatever things are honorable, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, think about these things Philippians 4:8. We encourage you to flee youthful lusts and pursue righteousness, faith, love, and peace 2 Timothy 2:22, which means taking practical steps to cut off access, to bring this struggle into the light with a trusted mature Christian brother for accountability, to fill your mind daily with the Word, and to walk in fellowship and not in isolation.
We also notice your request did not mention the name of Jesus Christ, and we must gently share that it is only through Him that we have access to the Father and that we are saved. Jesus said I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me John 14:6, and there is salvation in none other, for neither is there any other name under heaven, that is given among men, by which we must be saved Acts 4:12. It is by believing in Jesus, that He died for our sins and rose again, and calling upon His name that we are forgiven and made new. We urge you to place your full trust in Him not only for forgiveness of this sin but for your eternal life.
We lift up your need for sleep, for we know sleeplessness is tormenting when the mind is under attack. We pray the Lord will grant you the good night of sleep you are asking for, for He gives sleep to his beloved Psalm 127:2, and we claim the promise that you will lie down, and your sleep will be sweet Proverbs 3:24, and in peace you will both lay yourself down and sleep, for you alone, Yahweh, make me live in safety Psalm 4:8.
We also join you in prayer for your trip from Portugal, that God would grant you security and that it would go well. We pray that Yahweh will keep your going out and your coming in, from this time forward, and forever more Psalm 121:8.
We pray together now, Father in heaven, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, and we lift up our brother to Your throne of grace. Lord, have mercy and forgive him for the sin of lust and pornography, wash him clean by the blood of Jesus and create in him a clean heart. Break every chain and stronghold that has attacked him all his life, and let Your Holy Spirit fill him with power to flee temptation and to walk in purity. Renew his mind, heal him in every way, restore what has been stolen, and make him whole. Grant him deep and peaceful sleep tonight and in the nights to come, guarding his mind and body and giving him rest. We ask for Your hand of protection and security over his trip from Portugal, that You would keep him safe on every step of the journey and bring him home in peace. Let him know that You are his deliverer and his healer, and draw him ever closer to Jesus, in whose name we have access and salvation. We trust You to complete the good work You have begun in him. Amen.
