Pray

We lift our hearts together in earnest prayer for the United States of America, seeking the Lord’s mercy and guidance for our nation and its leaders. The weight of leadership is heavy, and we know that without God’s wisdom, even the most well-intentioned leaders can falter. Scripture reminds us in Proverbs 21:1, "The king’s heart is in the Lord’s hand like the watercourses. He turns it wherever he desires." Father, we ask You to turn the hearts of our leaders toward You, that they may govern with righteousness, justice, and humility.

We long to see leaders who fear You above all else, who seek Your will in their decisions, and who stand firmly on the truth of Your Word. In 2 Chronicles 7:14, You promise, "If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves, pray, seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, will forgive their sin, and will heal their land." Lord, we humble ourselves before You now, confessing the sins of our nation, idolatry, moral decay, division, and pride. We repent on behalf of our land and ask for Your forgiveness and healing.

We rebuke the spirit of compromise and deception that has crept into our leadership. We pray against the influence of worldly philosophies that oppose Your truth and seek to silence Your people. Instead, raise up men and women who will boldly proclaim Your name, defend the sanctity of life, uphold the biblical definition of marriage, and protect the freedoms You have ordained. Give them courage to stand against the tide of cultural relativism and to lead with integrity, as Daniel did in Babylon, unwavering in his faith even in the face of persecution.

We also pray for the Church in America, that we would be a light in the darkness, salt that preserves, and a voice that declares Your truth without apology. Equip us to pray fervently, live righteously, and speak boldly, so that we may be instruments of revival in our land. Let us not grow weary in doing good, for in due season, we will reap if we do not give up (Galatians 6:9).

Father, we acknowledge that our hope does not rest in politicians or policies, but in You alone. You are the King of kings and Lord of lords, and no leader rises or falls apart from Your sovereign will. We trust You to appoint leaders after Your own heart, as You did with David, who shepherded Your people with justice and faithfulness. May Your will be done in our nation, as it is in heaven.

We pray all these things in the mighty and matchless name of Jesus Christ, the only name by which we can come before Your throne and the only name by which men and women can be saved (Acts 4:12). Without Jesus, there is no access to You, no forgiveness of sins, and no eternal life. We declare that salvation is found in no one else, and we pray that many in our nation would come to know Him as Lord and Savior. Let revival begin in the hearts of Your people, and let it spread like wildfire across this land.

Amen.

Thank you for calling us to pray in this way. We feel the weight of that longing too, for our nation and for leaders who truly seek God’s heart. It’s easy to grow anxious when we look at the headlines, but we hold onto the truth that the Lord remains sovereign over every nation and every seat of power.

One thing we’ve found helpful is to move from general prayers into naming specific leaders before the throne. Maybe after this, we could jot down a few names, people in local, state, and national positions, and commit to lifting them up each day for the next week. Not just for policy changes, but for their own souls: that they would encounter the living God, receive wisdom from above, and act with integrity. Inviting a trusted friend to join us in that small discipline can also keep the fire steady when discouragement creeps in. Sustained, personal prayer does more than change situations, it changes us, anchoring our hope in Christ alone.

Lord Jesus, we bring the United States before you now. We ask you to work in the hearts of every leader, grant them clarity and courage to pursue what is just and true. And in your perfect timing, raise up men and women who will serve with humble dependence on you, leading others to honor your name. We trust you are already preparing them, known to you even if unseen to us. In your name, Amen.

Your heart is heavy for the land, and you have cried out for true Christian leaders to rise. I hear that sigh, and I do not think it a small thing. The Lord listens when His children plead for nations. Do not imagine that your prayer is a whisper lost in the noise of the world. A sigh heaved into the bosom of Christ travels further than a thousand speeches. The Father has long been in the business of raising up unlikely men and women, shepherds from the back side of the desert, fishermen from their nets, a farmer crying in the wilderness, and He has not run out of power nor forgotten His covenant.

You may look at the landscape and see only dry ground. The news rattles your peace, and the state of things presses upon your spirit like a low and lowering cloud. But I would have you remember that the Lord is not pacing the ramparts of heaven, wringing His hands. He sits upon the flood. He can turn the hearts of rulers as easily as you turn a tap of water in your own house. And He often works in the deep before we ever see a ripple on the surface. So pray on, and do not let your faith leak away. The need of the hour is not first and foremost a better leader; it is a praying people who will not let go of the Almighty. A nation is never so blessed as when the church is on her knees.

And while you pray, do not make the mistake of thinking that a Christian leader is someone who merely wears the name. Oh, it is a far finer thing! The best public servant is the one who has been soaked in private grace, who carries the atmosphere of the closet into the chamber of state. Do you not see that a woman tending her children with a heart full of Jesus is doing as true a work for the kingdom as a senator? A merchant who refuses a dishonest gain because his conscience is captive to Christ is a more durable pillar of the nation than many who stand under the rotunda. The Lord saturates the common with the sacred until a faithful father, a patient mother, an honest tradesman, and a praying magistrate are all stones in the same wall. Do not despise the day of small things. The great awakening often begins with one soul, then a family, then a neighborhood. The holy leaven works until the whole lump is leavened.

You have asked the Lord to help your leaders and to bring forth true Christian ones. That prayer does not go into a file to gather dust. He keeps your petitions as a gardener keeps seeds in winter, ready for the spring. There have been times in this land when the very air seemed charged with the Spirit’s presence, when the plowman overtook the reaper and the mountains dropped sweet wine. Those days were not produced by political machinery, but by the outpouring of the Holy Ghost. And the same Spirit is not diminished. He is as willing to descend now as ever He was. So do not let the present drought convince you that rain is impossible. The cloud may be no bigger than a man’s hand, but the Lord can spread it across the whole sky before your next meal.

Let this be your quiet confidence: the King of kings has not abdicated His throne. He holds the stars in their courses; can He not hold the hearts of senators and governors in His hand? He brought His people out of Egypt; can He not bring this nation through its dark passages? Your business is not to fret, but to trust, and to go on watering the ground with your petitions. The answer may come at the beginning of your supplications, or it may tarry to strengthen your faith; but come it shall. The God of Jacob will not turn a deaf ear to the cry of His elect.

Now let us bend the knee together.

Lord Jesus, You are the desire of nations, the only true King and Head over all things to Your church. Look upon this land in mercy. Stir up a spirit of prayer among Your people, that we should cry to You day and night. Raise up leaders after Your own heart, men and women who tremble at Your word, who love righteousness and hate covetousness. Let no empty name satisfy us; give us shepherds who have first sat at Your feet. And until that harvest is fully come, keep the heart of Your servant steady, fixed upon Your unshakable throne. Be his refuge and his song. In Your strong name, dear Lord Jesus, we rest. Amen.

May God in Jesus' name answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy. God is so in love with you. Be Encouraged!

Psalm 37:4: Delight yourself in the Lord, And He shall give you the desires of your heart.
Matthew 6:33: But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.

Heal Me Lord Jesus Spirit, Soul, And Body

We are deeply grateful that you entrusted us with the sacred privilege of lifting up our nation and its leaders in prayer. It has been on our hearts to stand in agreement with you, asking God to raise up true Christian leaders who will seek His wisdom, walk in His ways, and guide our country with righteousness and integrity.

If you have seen God move in response to these prayers—whether through new leadership, a shift in hearts, or a renewed sense of His presence in our land—we would be overjoyed to hear your praise report. Your testimony could encourage many others to trust in the Lord’s faithfulness.

If, however, the answer has not yet been made clear, we invite you to post this request again. We remain committed to standing with you in persistent, faith-filled prayer, believing that God hears and answers according to His perfect will and timing.

May the Lord continue to bless you as you seek Him for our nation. We pray that He would pour out His Spirit, soften hearts, and raise up men and women after His own heart to lead with truth, humility, and courage. In Jesus’ mighty name, we pray. Amen.
