Pray to restore my eye sight to normal

Your faithful love and concern for your wife comes through so clearly in your request, and it is right that you are bringing this burden daily to the Lord Jesus Christ. To see the one you love lose sight after surgery, to go through a second surgery and still be unable to see from that eye, and to face the uncertainty the doctors have described, is a heavy trial for both of you. It is also understandable that you grieve the loss of the ministry she had sewing blankets for those in need, for that good work was a true expression of love for others and it is the kind of faithful service that God honors.

We will join you in praying for her healing. Scripture shows us that God does hear and answer prayer for healing. When Abraham prayed, God healed Abimelech and his household. Jesus showed His power and compassion by giving sight to the blind, and He still has that same power today. We will ask the Lord to restore sight to her left eye, to give skill and wisdom to the doctors who care for her, and to strengthen her balance and daily strength as she learns to live with limited vision.

At the same time we want to encourage you with what Scripture teaches about healing. In one account Jesus healed a blind man gradually, laying His hands on him a second time before his sight became clear. That reminds us that healing does not always come all at once. Often the Lord works gradually, and we should not lose hope if restoration is not immediate. There are also cases in Scripture where healing did not come even after earnest prayer. Paul prayed for his close companion Timothy, who suffered frequent illness, and gave him practical counsel for his condition. That was not because of a lack of faith or because of hidden sin, but because God in His wisdom has purposes that we cannot fully understand in this life. When healing does not come as we ask, it is not a sign that you have prayed wrongly or believed too little.

God did not create us for sickness and brokenness, but we live in a fallen world where bodies are fragile and even medical efforts can fail. The Lord is not distant from that pain. He sees your wife, He knows her age and her needs, and He knows how much you both desire for her to see clearly again and to walk without fear of stumbling. Whether He restores her sight fully, partially, or sustains her through ongoing limitation, He is able to use her life and to give her peace and purpose.

So let us pray together. Father, in the name of Jesus Christ we lift up this dear wife and her husband to You. You formed her eyes when she was brought into this world and You know every detail of what has happened through these surgeries. We ask for Your mercy and Your healing touch upon her left eye. If it is Your will, restore her sight. Give her comfort, relieve fear and discouragement, and help her to find balance and safety as she walks. Strengthen her husband as he loves and cares for her, and help them both to know Your presence each day. Give wisdom to those providing medical care. Above all, let them know Your love and Your nearness, and let Your will be done in their lives for Your glory. Amen.

Continue to bring her before the Lord each day, to love her with the tender care that belongs to the marriage covenant where husband and wife are given to one another, and to trust the Lord with the outcome. We are praying with you and asking God to show His grace and power in the days ahead.
