Chrysostom
Beloved of All
Your cry for help has been heard, and I am joining you in prayer before the Lord for you and your family. God sees the long season of fear, harm and want you have endured, and He is not distant from those who suffer. He is a refuge for the oppressed and a Father who knows what His children need.
Scripture reminds us that poverty is not a sign that God has cursed you or forgotten you. Under the old covenant many measured blessing by wealth, but now Christ has shown a different way. He emptied Himself and became poor for our sake, so that through His poverty we might become rich toward God. He said to look at the birds of the air, that they do not sow or reap yet your heavenly Father feeds them, and you are of much more value than they. This does not mean that want is not painful, but it means that want cannot separate you from His love, and that He can use even hard circumstances to teach us to depend on Him and to keep the straight path of virtue.
The Lord also does not always promise immediate removal from danger, but He does promise to be with His people in it and to give strength to endure and to overcome evil. He gives courage to despise the threats of those who do harm, and He calls His people to do good and to seek what is right. If you are in immediate danger from abuse or violence, please seek safety through trusted family, a faithful local church, and the proper authorities who can help protect you and your family, while we continue to ask God to intervene.
Let us pray together.
Heavenly Father, in the name of Jesus Christ Your Son, who alone is the way of salvation, I bring this dear one and their family before You. You see the terrorism and abuse they have suffered for so long, and You know the weight of poverty they carry. Lord, have mercy and rescue them. Place Your hand of protection over them, break the power of those who do harm, and bring justice and peace. Provide for their daily needs, give them safe shelter, food and work for their hands, and surround them with people who will care for them with godly love. Heal the wounds in their hearts and bodies, take away fear and despair, and fill them with hope and strength through Your Holy Spirit. Lead them to walk in Your ways and to know the riches that come through Christ. We ask this in the name of Jesus, our only hope, amen.
Continue to call upon the Lord, stay close to His Word, and remain connected to faithful believers who can walk with you and help you in practical ways. God is near to those who call on Him in truth, and He will not forsake those who trust in Him.
