Pray that things I do will be helpful toward career/purpose

Beloved of All
I am learning courses and do some mission volunteer work but I do feel overwhelmed as I trying come out of survival mode from trauma. I feel i am stuck in survival mode and it doesn't feel good, while others are changing so much and progressing in career and life goals. I pray I can find peace in my unique situation and overcome my internal struggle.

We hear the heaviness in your heart and we join with you in bringing this before the Lord. Feeling overwhelmed while trying to learn, serve, and heal from trauma is a very real struggle, and feeling stuck in survival mode while it seems others are moving quickly ahead can bring deep discouragement. We want you to know God sees exactly where you are, He is not disappointed in your pace, and He has not forgotten you in this season.

We take comfort that God has a unique purpose for each of us and that purpose is not measured by comparison to others. For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared before that we would walk in them Ephesians 2:10. And we are reminded, For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says Yahweh, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you hope and a future Jeremiah 29:11. What you are doing in learning and in mission volunteer work is good and pleasing to Him when done unto Him, but He does not want you to remain driven by survival and striving. Let each man test his own work, and then he will take pride in himself and not in his neighbor Galatians 6:4. Your journey is your own, and God is writing a story with your life that is not meant to look like anyone elses. In all things we know that all things work together for good for those who love God, to those who are called according to his purpose Romans 8:28, even the slow and painful seasons.

The Lord also wants to bring you out of survival mode into His rest and healing. When my heart is overwhelmed, lead me to the rock that is higher than I Psalm 61:2. He heals the broken in heart, and binds up their wounds Psalm 147:3 and Yahweh is near to those who have a broken heart, and saves those who have a crushed spirit Psalm 34:18. Jesus Himself invites you, Come to me, all you who labor and are heavily burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart; and you will find rest for your souls Matthew 11:28-29. And we are taught, In nothing be anxious, but in everything, by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus Philippians 4:6-7. That peace is not found in getting everything done perfectly or catching up to others, but in walking daily with Him and allowing Him to renew your mind and heal the trauma at its root Romans 12:2.

We also gently share something important we noticed, that your request did not mention the name of Jesus. We want to lovingly remind you that it is only through Jesus that we have access to the Father and it is only through Him that we are saved. Jesus said to him, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me John 14:6 and There is salvation in none other, for neither is there any other name under heaven, that is given among men, by which we must be saved Acts 4:12. If you have not already, we encourage you to place your trust fully in Jesus Christ, believing He died for your sins and rose again, and to call upon His name. It is in His name we pray and find true peace and purpose.

We pray together for you now.

Heavenly Father, we lift up this dear one to You in the name of Jesus Christ. You see the overwhelm, the trauma, the feeling of being stuck, and the internal struggle. Lord, we ask that You heal the broken places of the heart and bring this soul out of survival mode into Your perfect peace and rest. Guard the heart and mind with Your peace that surpasses understanding. Give wisdom to steward time and energy well, to know when to study, when to serve, and when to rest in You. Make clear the steps toward career and purpose that You have prepared, and help our friend to find contentment and joy in the unique path You have set, without comparison to others. Renew the mind daily by Your Spirit and Your Word, and let every course learned and every act of volunteer service be fruitful for Your glory. Lead to the rock that is higher when overwhelmed, and remind this heart that You are near, You are faithful, and You will complete the good work You have begun. We ask all this in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, our hope and our salvation, amen.

We encourage you to keep seeking Him first each day, even in small moments of prayer and reading His Word, to give yourself grace for the healing process which takes time, and to consider sharing this burden with a trusted pastor or biblical counselor who can walk with you. God is not measuring your progress by the world's clock. He is patiently shaping you, and He will use even this difficult season for good. Be faithful in the small things before you today, and trust Him with the future He holds.

We hear how heavy this feels for you, trying to move forward with courses and mission volunteer work while still carrying so much from what you've been through. It makes sense that you would feel overwhelmed and stuck in survival mode, even when you want to be making progress toward purpose and career.

It can be especially discouraging to look around and feel like others are moving quickly while you are working so hard just to find steady ground. Your path is your own though, and the fact that you are showing up and learning and serving, even while you feel unsettled inside, matters more than how it compares to anyone else's timeline.

One thing that has helped others in a similar place is to narrow the focus for a season. Instead of measuring all the areas at once, we often encourage choosing one small, faithful next step to give your attention to this week, whether that is one course module or one volunteer commitment, and letting that be enough. It can also help to talk openly with a trusted pastor, mentor, or counselor who can walk with you as you come out of survival mode, alongside prayer.

We are praying for you and for peace in this unique season you are in.

Father, we lift our friend to You in Jesus' name. You see the trauma they have carried and the desire they have to use what they are learning for good. Bring calm to the internal struggle, give wisdom for each next step with work and ministry, and remind them daily that You are near and not rushing them. Lead them gently into healing and purpose in Your timing. Amen.

There is much that is moving in your honest prayer, and it is brought before the Lord with tender care. To feel overwhelmed while you are seeking to learn and to serve, and to feel stuck in survival mode while others seem to advance quickly, is a heavy burden indeed. Yet the Lord knows your frame and the trial through which you have passed, and He draws near to the weak and heavy laden.

Hear the gracious invitation of our Lord Jesus, "Come unto Me, all you that labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest." Take His yoke upon you and learn of Him, for He is meek and lowly in heart, and you shall find rest unto your souls. Rest comes first by faith in Jesus, and then rest comes through obedience to Him. Before we can serve Him rightly, we must be healed and refreshed by Him. Do not think you must first make yourself strong enough to be useful. Stand still till you are healed, look to Christ to revive your spirit, and He will afterwards make your service fruitful in His own time and way.

You ask for purpose and for your labor to be helpful toward your calling. Remember that yours is a holy calling, not according to our works, but according to His own purpose and grace which was given us in Christ Jesus before the world began. It is a calling from heaven and a calling to heaven, and it lifts the heart to the high things of God. Your calling is not measured by how quickly you progress compared with others. The Good Shepherd calls His own sheep by name, one by one, and He leads them out at His own pace. He is always near the sickly and the weak, and when the heart is breaking, Christ comes closest. He knows your unique situation, and He has not forgotten you in it.

For that inward struggle and the longing for peace, there is a perfect peace to be had even in this dark world of sin, for the blood of Jesus whispers peace within. The promise stands, "Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on Thee, because he trusteth in Thee." To know the will of Jesus and to do it day by day is to abide in the peace of God. It is a peace that is necessary when we are weak and suffering and surrounded by cares, and it cannot be taken away by force or fraud when our minds are stayed upon Christ.

Let us pray for you now.

O Lord our God, who meetest with Thy people and communest with them through Jesus Christ our great High Priest, look in mercy upon this Thy servant. Thou seest the trauma and the long season of survival, the weariness and the inward struggle. Speak peace to this troubled heart and say, "I have healed thee, I have pardoned thee." Preserve this one in going out and coming in, and deliver from the Evil One. Give rest from fear and rest from the turbulence of inward passion, and let the soul find its quiet in Christ alone.

Father, give wisdom for the courses learned and for the mission volunteer work undertaken. Purge from dead works to serve the living and true God, and let every lawful labor be done as unto Thee. Where there is overwhelm, give a measured pace and a clear next step. Where there is comparison and discouragement, give contentment in Thy heavenly calling and faith to trust Thy purpose and grace. Thou hast set Thy Son upon the throne, and neither trial nor enemy shall pull Him from it, so keep this heart stayed upon Him.

We ask that Thou wouldst bring buds and blossoms and ripe fruit in due season, that the rod of Christ may be all powerful over this life, and that out of weakness Thou wouldst show Thy strength. Grant perfect peace within, joy in believing, and a steady hope that earth's struggles shall soon cease and Thou wilt call Thy child to Heaven's perfect peace. All this we ask through Jesus Christ, who loved us and washed us from our sins in His own blood, to whom be glory and dominion forever. Amen.
