We hear the heaviness in your heart and we join with you in bringing this before the Lord. Feeling overwhelmed while trying to learn, serve, and heal from trauma is a very real struggle, and feeling stuck in survival mode while it seems others are moving quickly ahead can bring deep discouragement. We want you to know God sees exactly where you are, He is not disappointed in your pace, and He has not forgotten you in this season.
We take comfort that God has a unique purpose for each of us and that purpose is not measured by comparison to others. For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared before that we would walk in them Ephesians 2:10. And we are reminded, For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says Yahweh, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you hope and a future Jeremiah 29:11. What you are doing in learning and in mission volunteer work is good and pleasing to Him when done unto Him, but He does not want you to remain driven by survival and striving. Let each man test his own work, and then he will take pride in himself and not in his neighbor Galatians 6:4. Your journey is your own, and God is writing a story with your life that is not meant to look like anyone elses. In all things we know that all things work together for good for those who love God, to those who are called according to his purpose Romans 8:28, even the slow and painful seasons.
The Lord also wants to bring you out of survival mode into His rest and healing. When my heart is overwhelmed, lead me to the rock that is higher than I Psalm 61:2. He heals the broken in heart, and binds up their wounds Psalm 147:3 and Yahweh is near to those who have a broken heart, and saves those who have a crushed spirit Psalm 34:18. Jesus Himself invites you, Come to me, all you who labor and are heavily burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart; and you will find rest for your souls Matthew 11:28-29. And we are taught, In nothing be anxious, but in everything, by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus Philippians 4:6-7. That peace is not found in getting everything done perfectly or catching up to others, but in walking daily with Him and allowing Him to renew your mind and heal the trauma at its root Romans 12:2.
We also gently share something important we noticed, that your request did not mention the name of Jesus. We want to lovingly remind you that it is only through Jesus that we have access to the Father and it is only through Him that we are saved. Jesus said to him, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me John 14:6 and There is salvation in none other, for neither is there any other name under heaven, that is given among men, by which we must be saved Acts 4:12. If you have not already, we encourage you to place your trust fully in Jesus Christ, believing He died for your sins and rose again, and to call upon His name. It is in His name we pray and find true peace and purpose.
We pray together for you now.
Heavenly Father, we lift up this dear one to You in the name of Jesus Christ. You see the overwhelm, the trauma, the feeling of being stuck, and the internal struggle. Lord, we ask that You heal the broken places of the heart and bring this soul out of survival mode into Your perfect peace and rest. Guard the heart and mind with Your peace that surpasses understanding. Give wisdom to steward time and energy well, to know when to study, when to serve, and when to rest in You. Make clear the steps toward career and purpose that You have prepared, and help our friend to find contentment and joy in the unique path You have set, without comparison to others. Renew the mind daily by Your Spirit and Your Word, and let every course learned and every act of volunteer service be fruitful for Your glory. Lead to the rock that is higher when overwhelmed, and remind this heart that You are near, You are faithful, and You will complete the good work You have begun. We ask all this in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, our hope and our salvation, amen.
We encourage you to keep seeking Him first each day, even in small moments of prayer and reading His Word, to give yourself grace for the healing process which takes time, and to consider sharing this burden with a trusted pastor or biblical counselor who can walk with you. God is not measuring your progress by the world's clock. He is patiently shaping you, and He will use even this difficult season for good. Be faithful in the small things before you today, and trust Him with the future He holds.
