Pray my abuser is removed from my work area

I dated a guy from my job, I know I shouldn’t have, but at the time I didn’t see the harm in it. Now I do. Throughout the whole six months of dating him he was manipulative, controlling, mentally, and emotionally abusive. To me, things got so bad that I couldn’t eat for over a week because of stress. My supervisor saw what was going on, and banned him from my work area. *For those who ask why it took me six months to leave him? Well, when you love somebody you get attached to them, he made it seem like he was changing. He didn’t. I finally left him, but the damage was done. Something happened that my supervisor has to be out of work for a few weeks, now his supervisors are letting him work in my area. I told his supervisors the situation, but they’re acting like it’s an unreasonable request to put him somewhere else. The thing about his department, he can work anywhere, they even rotate. But his supervisor said, “You’re backing to the corner with his work.” They are literally forcing a woman to work with her abuser. I went to HR and they said they would work on it, but I can’t work under this kind of stress, it’s raising my blood pressure. Please pray they move him, and that he never come back.

We hear your pain and the deep distress this situation has caused you, and we stand with you in fervent prayer. First, we want to acknowledge your courage in recognizing the harm in this relationship and taking steps to remove yourself from it. It is not uncommon for love to blind us to the truth, especially when someone manipulates us into believing they will change. The enemy often uses such tactics to keep us bound in toxic cycles, but God’s Word reminds us in Proverbs 22:3, "A prudent man sees danger and takes refuge, but the simple keep going and suffer for it." You were wise to leave, and we praise God for giving you the strength to do so.

Your request for this man to be removed from your work area is entirely justified. God does not desire for His children to live in fear or under constant stress, especially when it affects your health. Scripture tells us in Psalm 34:18-19, "Yahweh is near to those who have a broken heart, and saves those who have a crushed spirit. Many are the afflictions of the righteous, but Yahweh delivers him out of them all." We declare that God will deliver you from this oppression and provide a way out of this unbearable situation.

We must also address the sin of abuse and manipulation in this relationship. God’s design for love is one of mutual respect, honor, and selflessness, as described in Ephesians 5:25, "Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave himself up for it." What you experienced was the opposite of God’s love, it was control, cruelty, and destruction. We rebuke the spirit of manipulation and abuse in this man’s life and pray that God would convict his heart and lead him to true repentance. If he does not change, we ask that God remove him from your presence entirely, not just for your sake, but for the sake of others who may fall victim to his ways.

We are deeply troubled by the response of your workplace, particularly the supervisors and HR. Their lack of action is not only unjust but also enables this man’s behavior to continue unchecked. We pray that God would soften their hearts and open their eyes to the severity of this situation. Proverbs 31:8-9 commands us, "Open your mouth for the mute, for the rights of all who are left desolate. Open your mouth, judge righteously, and serve justice to the poor and needy." We ask that God would raise up advocates for you within your workplace, whether through HR, higher management, or even legal channels if necessary, to ensure your safety and well-being are prioritized.

We also want to speak to the spiritual battle at play here. The enemy seeks to steal, kill, and destroy (John 10:10), and he will use every opportunity to keep you in bondage to fear and anxiety. But we serve a God who is greater than any scheme of the devil. We declare that no weapon formed against you will prosper (Isaiah 54:17) and that God will fight for you (Exodus 14:14). We pray that you would experience the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, guarding your heart and mind in Christ Jesus (Philippians 4:7).

Let us pray together:

Heavenly Father, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, the name above every name, the only name by which we can be saved and have access to You. Lord, we lift up this dear sister to You, who has endured so much pain and stress at the hands of this man. We ask that You would be her refuge and strength, a very present help in this time of trouble (Psalm 46:1). Father, we pray that You would move mightily in her workplace. Soften the hearts of those in authority who have the power to remove this man from her work area. Give them wisdom, compassion, and a sense of urgency to act justly on her behalf. If they continue to fail her, Lord, we ask that You would intervene supernaturally, opening doors for her to find relief and resolution.

We rebuke the spirit of fear that has tried to take hold of her life. We declare that perfect love casts out fear (1 John 4:18), and Your love, Lord, is perfect. Fill her with Your peace, comfort, and assurance that You are with her. Heal the wounds in her heart and restore her joy. We also pray for this man, Lord. If he does not know You, we ask that You would draw him to Yourself. Break the hardness of his heart and lead him to repentance. If he refuses to change, we ask that You would remove him from her life completely, so she may live in freedom and safety.

Father, we ask that You would provide her with godly support, friends, family, or even professional counselors who can walk alongside her during this time. Surround her with people who will speak life into her and remind her of Your promises. We trust that You are working all things together for her good (Romans 8:28), even in this painful situation.

Lord, we also pray for justice. You are a God who hates injustice, and we ask that You would bring accountability to this man’s actions. Let Your righteousness prevail in this situation, and may Your name be glorified through it all. We thank You, Father, for hearing our prayers and for Your faithfulness to answer. We trust in You and declare that no plan of the enemy will succeed against Your child. In the powerful name of Jesus Christ, we pray. Amen.

In the meantime, we encourage you to continue seeking godly counsel and support. If your workplace continues to fail you, consider exploring other job opportunities where you can thrive without fear. God has a plan for your life, and it is one of hope and a future (Jeremiah 29:11). Do not lose heart, for the Lord is your strength and your shield (Psalm 28:7). Keep leaning on Him, and He will sustain you.

We hear how exhausting and unfair this is, not just enduring the abuse itself, but now being forced to work alongside the man who caused so much harm, while supervisors minimize what you’re going through. The stress you’re describing is real, and losing a week of eating and feeling your blood pressure rise are your body’s way of sounding an alarm. If you haven’t already, please consider seeing a doctor soon, just to check on the physical toll. This isn’t overreacting; it’s caring for the body God has given you.

It took courage to leave him, and it takes courage now to keep speaking up when the systems that should protect you aren’t moving fast enough. While HR works on it, a couple of practical steps may help guard you in the meantime: write down every incident, dates, times, what was said or done, and who you reported it to. A clear record strengthens your case and helps you stay grounded when others act as if it’s no big deal. Follow up with HR in writing, summarizing your earlier conversation and any commitments they made. Sometimes a paper trail is what finally gets action. If there’s a coworker you trust, you might ask them to be a witness or simply stay near you during shifts; even the presence of someone else can deter his behavior and give you a bit of breathing room. You might also contact a local domestic abuse hotline, many offer workplace advocacy and know how to navigate situations exactly like this.

You are not unreasonable. You are not backing anyone into a corner. You are asking for the basic safety that no one should have to beg for. We are so sorry you’ve had to fight this battle while still healing.

Lord Jesus, you see the weight our sister is carrying. Please move decisively so that this man is permanently removed from her work area and she no longer has to face her abuser every day. Protect her mind and body from the effects of prolonged stress, and give her clear guidance and the right advocates who will act justly. Surround her with peace that goes beyond the chaos, and steady her spirit as she waits. In your name we pray, Amen.

May God in Jesus' name answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy. God is so in love with you. Be Encouraged!

Heal Me Lord Jesus Spirit, Soul, And Body

The peril you describe is very real, and not a thing to be treated lightly by those who have authority. You have come to know something of the danger of falling, for your own spirit has been brought low by this man’s dealings. Yet your danger now is not only of a broken heart, but of a body worn down by constant stress. You need an infinite Friend to keep you in safety against all the machinations of your adversaries, and that Friend is the Lord Jesus Christ. He is able to keep you from falling utterly, and to present you faultless at the last. His throne might sooner fail than one of His little ones perish under the unrighteous hand of man. There is a safety for your very spirit, even when men seem to have power over your daily circumstances.

It is no unreasonable thing you ask. The Judge of all the earth rules by a law in which there is no injustice, and those in authority are meant to act as His ministers for good. When they side with the oppressor and shrug at the distress of the oppressed, they forget the law to which they themselves must answer. You have seen what happens when mere human help fails; your supervisor was a temporary shield, and now he is gone, and the evil returns like a flood. Let this press you to lean no more on an arm of flesh. Cry to God, who is as wise as He is able. He sees the hidden counsels of these supervisors, and He can turn their hearts as a river is turned, or remove the troubler of your peace as He wills. The removal of a trial like this, when it comes, is not a slow mending piece by piece, when God works deliverance, it is entire. There is not a single atom of the old dread left behind.

Plead with the Lord, and lay stress upon His glory. Tell Him that it glorifies His mercy to rescue the broken-hearted, and His righteousness to rebuke those who protect wickedness under the name of convenience. And then plead the merit of His Son, plead the blood, plead the wounds. The curse of this constant terror has no right to rest upon you forever, for Christ bore all the weight of your sorrows. Ask boldly that this man be put far from your sight, never to return, and that the God who stilled the sea may bring a great calm to your workplace.

Your distress over being forced to work alongside the one who harmed you is a heavy burden, and it is right to cry out for relief. Yet remember that the peace which truly matters is not the absence of strife in our outward circumstances, but the inward peace that Christ gives, a peace that steadies the soul even when the world rages. He said, “My peace I give unto you,” and this peace is not like the world’s, which often comes from taking revenge or avoiding every hardship, it is a peace that makes you stronger by rooting you in Him. When such a trial presses upon you, let the peace of God sit as umpire in your heart. Two thoughts wrestle there: one urging you to despair or retaliation, the other whispering that God sees and will act. Let peace award the prize to patient endurance, not because injustice is acceptable, but because God is just, and your calm trust honors Him while the storm passes.

You did well to flee from that impure bond. True peace sometimes comes only when the diseased limb is cut off, when the companion of sin is removed. Your supervisor understood this, and it is grievous that others now act as if forcing you back into that shadow is a small thing. Their callousness is that insensibility of which our Lord spoke, like the people in Noah’s day, who lived in luxury and noticed nothing until the flood swept them away. Do not imitate their blindness. You have cleansed your life of that unholy attachment; now guard your heart with even greater diligence. Seek the peace that is “with all men” only when it does not compromise holiness, without which no one will see God. There is a false peace that is worse than open war, for even scoundrels agree together to do harm. You cannot have true peace while yoked to wickedness. Pray that God will open the eyes of those in authority, that they may move him far from you, not merely for your comfort but for the soul of that man, who must himself repent if he is ever to find peace with God.

Meanwhile, do not let the stress consume you. Commit your body and spirit to the One who cares for you. If your conscience is clear of willful wrongdoing, and you have turned from that sin, then you need not fear ultimate harm. The faithful Christian has an Angel ever beholding the face of the Father, and this promise is your shield. Let your prayers rise not only for his removal but also for the strength to bless those who afflict you, to do good to those who treat you spitefully. That is the hard road, the fruit of repentance, which turns us from past evils to deeds of righteousness. Fast and pray; let your turmoil become a occasion to cleave more tightly to the God of all comfort. He is not indifferent to your suffering. Even now, He prepares a way where there seems none. The wall of partition between earth and heaven has been broken; you are not alone. Stand firm in that peace, and may He swiftly grant you a safe space to labor without fear.

The stress you’re under is not a small thing, and the rise in your blood pressure is your body crying out that this situation is unjust and crushing. Emotional wounds like the ones you’re carrying from those six months often take far longer to heal than a physical cut. With a scrape or a break, the body knows just what to do, platelets seal the bleeding, and within days you can hardly see where it happened. But the inward cuts, the manipulation, the twisting of your mind and heart, those can stay raw month after month, flaring up when the source of the pain is suddenly allowed back into your daily life. It’s no wonder you feel trapped.

Healing is woven through the whole ministry of Jesus. He touched people. Sometimes He spoke a word from a distance. Other times, as with the blind man at Bethsaida, the restoration came in stages, gradual, progressive. That gradual healing was no less divine. God designed the processes within our bodies and minds to mend over time, and He works through those processes just as truly as through an instantaneous miracle. So when you feel the ache of all that happened, when the stress spikes and your heart races, know that even the slow, quiet path toward wholeness is holy ground. He doesn’t despise the gradual. The prophecy Isaiah spoke, that the Messiah would bear our griefs and carry our sorrows, the word there for griefs is literally our infirmities, our sicknesses. Jesus took the weight of not only sin but also the full burden of what abuse does to a person’s mind and body. You can bring every shred of it to Him.

I don’t fully understand why some people are delivered immediately and others, like Paul with his thorn, are told “My grace is sufficient.” And to claim that God always wills a specific physical healing in every circumstance isn’t something Scripture uniformly supports. Yet I do believe, firmly, that He heals in all kinds of ways, including the healing of the scars in your emotions and thoughts. Even if the situation at work doesn’t resolve as fast as you desperately need it to, there can be a divine strengthening inside you that calms the panic and guards your blood pressure as you wait. Many have found that while the outer pressure didn’t let up, something deep in their spirit was steadied by the Lord.

The man you dated showed the pattern of someone whose “change” was only a surface emotional flash, not a deep, lasting work of God. Saul, in the Old Testament, would weep and declare he knew David was righteous, but the very next time things didn’t go his way he was right back to the same destructive pursuit. That’s the difference between genuine repentance and a moment’s emotional stir. You’ve seen now that his promises to change were empty. Don’t let the shame of having stayed six months echo in your head, attachment and abuse twist together in ways that make leaving immensely hard. But you did leave. That took courage, and it was right. When his supervisors dismiss your request, they’re siding with a cycle that God sees clearly. You are not being unreasonable. You are asking to work free from the presence of one who only brought fear and control.

In the meantime, do what you can through proper channels, you’ve already gone to HR, and that is wise. God often protects us through good systems and healthy boundaries, just as much of the Law of Moses was about sanitation and practices that kept the community whole. Your supervisor’s earlier ban was a legitimate protection; don’t let anyone make you feel small for wanting it restored. While you wait and while you pray, remember that spiritual dryness and the desperate thirst for peace can’t be satisfied by trying to control every detail or even by the emotional relief of a quick fix. The deepest craving of your soul is for God Himself, the One who calmed the storm with a word and cast out every evil power. Jesus’ authority extends over every sphere, the physical, the material, and the unseen spiritual realm. Nothing happening in your workplace escapes His notice.

Pray, and keep praying, that your abuser is moved and never returns. But even as you ask, rest knowing that the One who bore your infirmities has already drawn near. Your healing in mind and body matters to Him, whether it dawns gradually like the morning or comes in a moment you can feel. Let your cry be to Him, and in the waiting, may the peace that passes understanding guard your heart and bring your blood pressure down under His watch.
