Heal Me Lord Jesus Spirit, Soul, And Body

We have heard your honest cry and we thank you for sharing it with us, for it takes humility to admit that your heart is not in the right place. We join with you in bringing this before the Lord, because He already knows and He desires truth in the innermost being.

The scriptures tell us The heart is deceitful above all things, and it is exceedingly corrupt: who can know it? Jeremiah 17:9 and also Keep your heart with all diligence, for out of it is the wellspring of life. Proverbs 4:23. Feeling that your heart is not right is often the gracious conviction of the Holy Spirit drawing you back to God, and that is a good and hopeful sign. God does not want you to remain in that place of unease, He wants to cleanse and renew you. He promises Create in me a clean heart, O God. Renew a right spirit within me. Psalm 51:10 and I will also give you a new heart, and I will put a new spirit within you. I will take away the stony heart out of your flesh, and I will give you a heart of flesh. Ezekiel 36:26.

We noticed your request did not mention the name of Jesus, and we want to lovingly remind you that it is only through Him that we have access to the Father and that our hearts can truly be made right. Jesus said to him, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me. John 14:6 and There is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among men, by which we must be saved. Acts 4:12. If you have not already, we encourage you to confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. Romans 10:9. It is by trusting in His finished work on the cross that our hearts are washed, forgiven, and made new.

So we pray together for you now. Father, in the name of Jesus Christ we lift up this dear one to You. You see the struggle and the honesty of this heart that feels out of alignment with You. We ask You to forgive every sin, every wandering thought, every affection that has been placed above You, and to cleanse this heart by the blood of Jesus. Create in this one a clean heart and renew a right spirit within. Take away the stony heart and give a heart of flesh that loves what You love and hates what You hate. Help this one to love You with all the heart, soul, and mind, and to walk in Your ways. Fill this heart with Your peace, Your Word, and Your Holy Spirit, so that out of it may flow life and obedience. Draw this one into deeper fellowship with You through daily prayer, reading of scripture, and walking with other believers who will encourage holiness. We ask this in the mighty and saving name of Jesus Christ, our only hope and our righteousness, amen.

We encourage you to continue to examine your heart in the light of God's Word, to confess quickly when you sense sin or coldness, and to ask Him daily to align your desires with His will. God is faithful to complete the work He has begun in you, and He delights in a humble and contrite heart that turns to Him. Keep seeking Him, and He will give you the peace of a heart at rest in Christ.

Thank you for being honest about where you are. Noticing that your heart isn't in the right place is painful, and it also shows you are paying attention to what matters most.

We hear that tension and we are praying for you. The heart is the center of who we are, where our thoughts, affections and choices come together, so it makes sense that when it feels divided or cold everything feels off.

One thing that has helped many of us is remembering that change with God is less about trying harder in a moment and more about training over time. Feeling sorry is real and it matters, but the deeper work is a quiet change of mind that begins to turn us in a new direction, even in small daily steps. That kind of turning takes patience, and God is patient as He forms us.

This week it may help to set aside a few unhurried minutes each day to simply be honest with God about where your heart is, and to share this struggle with one trusted pastor or believing friend who can walk with you and pray with you regularly. You do not have to sort this out alone.

Father, we lift our friend to You. You see this honest heart and You know the desire to be made right with You. Give clarity, gentleness and steady direction in the days ahead. Draw near, bring peace where there is unrest, and lead step by step toward what pleases You. We ask for wisdom for any next conversation or choice, and for the assurance of Your nearness. In Jesus' name, amen.

To feel that your heart is not in the right place is itself a mercy, for many never feel it at all. That uneasiness, that prick in the heart, is often the gentle work of the Holy Spirit showing you your need, that you may be led to Christ who alone can make you whole.

Do not be content with a repentance that only springs from terror or passes in a night and withers in a night. Such a repentance is superficial and skin deep. The repentance which God accepts is the work of His Spirit in the renewed heart. It gives God glory, it loathes sin because it is hateful to the heart of Jesus, and it sets the sinner ever afterwards craving after holiness. It is not a preparation for grace, but the first result of grace working within the soul.

You are not to seek to draw up repentance from the depths of your own heart, as you might draw up water from a well, but to ask Christ to work repentance in you by His Holy Spirit. Repentance is preached in the name of Jesus because it is His gift to give. He who died to wash away sin will also give you a heart of flesh to hate sin and to turn from it. Faith and repentance go together. The repentance that saves looks out of self to Christ and to Christ only, trusting His blood bought pardon which alone can dissolve the heart of stone.

The promise stands, A new heart also will I give you, and a new spirit will I put within you, and I will take away the stony heart out of your flesh, and I will give you an heart of flesh. No man can create this in himself, but the watchmaker best cleans the watch that he made. And a broken and a contrite heart, O God, thou wilt not despise. To worship God with a whole heart you must worship Him with a broken heart, serious and in earnest before Him, no longer trifling with spiritual things.

Know also that repentance is not perfect at first, nor is it finished in a day. The most sincere penitent will still feel some hardness of heart, and true repentance will grow continually and prove itself by works meet for repentance and by its continuance. The Lord keeps His people by daily renewal.

Let us pray for you now.

O Lord our God, look upon this seeking soul who confesses a heart not right before Thee. Create in this heart a clean heart, and renew a right spirit within. Grant repentance unto life, a true and abiding repentance that looks to Jesus Christ alone for remission of sins. Take away the stony heart and give a heart of flesh that loves what Thou lovest and hates what Thou hatest. Let Thy goodness lead to repentance, and let Thy blood bought pardon melt what law and terrors can only harden. Keep this one by Thy grace, that with faith in Christ there may be a daily turning from sin and a daily craving after holiness, to Thy glory. In the name of Jesus Christ our only Saviour, Amen.
