Pray for ###

We hear your cry and we stand with you in this battle against lustful behavior, and we thank you for your honesty in bringing this struggle into the light.

We want to speak the truth in love because lust is not a small thing to be managed but sin to be repented of and forsaken. Jesus said in Matthew 5:28 that everyone who gazes at a woman to lust after her has committed adultery with her already in his heart. Scripture calls us to flee sexual immorality in 1 Corinthians 6:18, for every sin that a man does is outside the body, but he who commits sexual immorality sins against his own body. Lust begins in the heart and in the mind, as James 1:14-15 teaches, but each man is tempted when he is drawn away by his own lust and enticed. Then the lust, when it has conceived, bears sin. The wages of that sin is death, but God has made a way of escape. We rebuke this lustful behavior together with you, not to condemn you, but because God loves you too much to leave you in it, and He desires to make you holy and whole.

We notice your request did not mention the name of Jesus Christ, and we want to lovingly remind you that it is only through His name that we have access to God and can be saved and delivered. Jesus said in John 14:6, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me. And Acts 4:12 declares there is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among men, by which we must be saved. If you have not already done so, we urge you to place your faith in Jesus Christ, believing that He died for your sins and rose again, confessing Him as Lord, for Romans 10:9 says if you will confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. When we come to God through Jesus, 1 John 1:9 promises if we confess our sins, he is faithful and righteous to forgive us the sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

We want to encourage you that victory is possible, not by your own willpower, but by walking in the Spirit. Galatians 5:16 says walk by the Spirit, and you won’t fulfill the lust of the flesh. God has not left you without help, for 1 Corinthians 10:13 assures us no temptation has taken you except what is common to man. God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted above what you are able, but will with the temptation also make the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it. We are called in 2 Timothy 2:22 to flee youthful lusts and pursue righteousness, faith, love, and peace. This means we must take radical action to remove sources of temptation, to guard our eyes and our hearts, to hide His word in our hearts as Psalm 119:11 says, Your word I have hidden in my heart, that I might not sin against you, and to invite godly accountability with other believers.

So we pray together for you now.

Father, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, and we lift up our brother before Your throne of grace. We confess this struggle with lust and we ask for Your forgiveness and Your cleansing. Lord, we ask that You would create in him a clean heart and renew a right spirit within him. Help him to flee from every form of sexual immorality and to make no provision for the flesh. Fill him with Your Holy Spirit so that he may walk in purity and self control. Give him strength to turn his eyes away from worthless things and to set his mind on what is pure and holy. Provide for him godly brothers who will hold him accountable and encourage him in righteousness. Let him know that sin will no longer have dominion over him, for he is under grace in Romans 6:14. Teach him to present his body as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to You. We pray that You would restore to him the joy of Your salvation and help him to live for Your glory, reserving the gift of intimacy for marriage between a man and a woman as You designed. We thank You that You are faithful to complete the good work You have begun in him. In the name of Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior we pray, amen.

We appreciate you being honest about this struggle. It takes humility to name it and ask for prayer, and we are glad you did.

Lust can feel very private and isolating, and that isolation often makes it harder to resist. One thing that has helped many believers is not trying to fight alone but inviting a trusted, mature person of the same sex to walk alongside you, someone you can be honest with regularly and who can check in and encourage you. That kind of steady accountability lifts the secrecy and gives you support in the moment of temptation.

It can also help to take a clear look at what tends to trigger the behavior and make practical changes ahead of time, clearing away easy access and putting helpful boundaries in place while you are thinking clearly, not in the moment of struggle. If you have a pastor or counselor you trust, consider talking with them soon so you are not carrying this by yourself.

We are praying for you and will continue to.

Father, we lift our friend to You and thank You that You see their heart and their desire to walk in purity. Give them strength, wisdom and encouragement, surround them with trustworthy support, and guide their steps each day as they seek to honor You. Help them know Your nearness and grace as they keep turning to You. In Jesus name, amen.

May God in Jesus' name answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy. God is so in love with you. Be Encouraged!

Psalm 37:4: Delight yourself in the Lord, And He shall give you the desires of your heart.

Heal Me Lord Jesus Spirit, Soul, And Body

Your cry for deliverance from lustful behavior is heard, and it is right that you should ask for prayer against it. The very desire to be free from it is a hopeful sign that the Spirit of God is working in you, for the flesh does not war against itself.

Scripture is plain that charity and purity are the two great garments of Christianity, and charity without purity will be of no use. We are told without holiness no man shall see the Lord. Any sin, whatever it is, if we cling to it and love it, will bring forth death, for when lust has conceived it brings forth sin, and sin when it is finished brings forth death. That is the pedigree of sin. It is born of lust and it brings forth dust. Therefore lust is not to be trifled with or indulged, but to be fled from and mortified, knowing that God has appointed purity to be kept within the lifelong covenant of marriage between one man and one woman, and that all sexual intimacy outside of it is contrary to His holy will.

You do well to pray, Lead us not into temptation. The word includes trial, for all temptation even when it comes from Satan is a trial from God, yet temptation in itself is a dangerous thing. Though God may bring great benefit out of our being tried, we are right to pray that He would spare us from too great trials lest we fall by their overcoming our faith and steadfastness. Pray in this way, Oh save me from the mischief of the temptation. Let me not stain my garments. Let me not slip nor slide, but may I stand fast. And remember this, the man who prays Lead us not into temptation and then goes into it is a liar before God. Therefore never go into temptation. Do not place yourself in the way of it. Do not linger where lust is fed by the eye or the thought or the company you keep. Flee youthful lusts and follow after righteousness.

Look also to the Lord Jesus Christ for all things. He is not a distant memory but a living Saviour, a familiar Friend to those who trust Him. Salvation is through Him alone, and strength to overcome is from Him alone. Saints learn first to overcome evil, and they do so not by their own power but by looking to Christ. Give Him another overcoming glance of faith and love, and ask Him to keep you.

Let us pray together. O Lord our God, we ask in the name of Jesus Christ Thy Son, who alone can save, that Thou wouldst look upon this Thy servant who confesses his struggle against lust. Forgive all sin through the blood of Christ and create a clean heart within him. Lead him not into temptation, and deliver him from evil. Withdraw him from every occasion and snare that would entangle him, and by Thy grace keep his garments unspotted. Teach him to hate the sin that once enticed him, to walk in purity, and to find his joy and satisfaction in Christ rather than in the flesh. Keep him standing fast to the end, and let this trial become a means of holiness and not of falling. Grant him a watchful spirit, a tender conscience, and a steadfast faith, for Christ's sake. Amen.

Your honest request for prayer against lustful behavior has been heard, and I thank you for having the courage to bring it into the light. To struggle against lust and to ask for prayer in that struggle is itself a step toward purity, for God honors a heart that wants to be cleansed and changed.

Scripture teaches that temptation in this area is common to many, but God is faithful. He will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able to bear, and with every temptation He will also make a way of escape so that you can endure it and turn away from it. You are not alone in this fight, and you are not without help. The very desire you expressed to be free is evidence that God is already at work in you.

Lust, especially sexual desire outside of God's design, is a powerful force, and it grows when we feed it with excess. The path to victory is to cut away what feeds it, to live with moderation, and to give careful attention to prayer. When we are tempted, God often allows that pressure not to crush us but to draw us back to Himself, as a loving father allows a child to feel his need so the child will run to his arms for safety. So flee to Him continually. When you fall, flee to Him. When you stand, remain with Him.

There is hope for complete cleansing. Those who once lived in sexual sin entered the kingdom not by remaining as they were, but by believing, repenting, and being purified and converted. God does not merely forgive, He justifies. If God is for you and Christ intercedes for you, no temptation and no accuser needs to make you despair.

I am praying for you now, that God will give you strength to recognize the way of escape He provides, that He will help you to turn your eyes and heart away from what tempts you, that He will fill your mind with what is pure and your heart with love for Him, and that He will give you perseverance in prayer whether you feel immediate deliverance or need to keep seeking Him day by day. May He grant you patience, a speedy release from the power of this temptation, and a growing joy in walking in holiness and self control.

Continue to seek Him, to stay in His Word, to pursue accountability with faithful believers, and to remove from your path whatever stirs this desire. God is able to keep you and to make you stand.
