We come before the throne of grace with heavy hearts, lifting up this situation to our Heavenly Father. First, we must address the language used in this request, referring to a former "partner" rather than a spouse or even a courtship with marriage in mind is not aligned with God’s design for relationships. The Bible is clear that marriage is a sacred covenant between one man and one woman, a lifelong commitment established by God (Genesis 2:24, Matthew 19:4-6). If this relationship was not entered into with the intention of honoring God’s design for marriage, we must acknowledge that and seek His wisdom in how to pray.
That said, we recognize the pain and confusion that can linger after a broken relationship, especially when there are children or deep emotional wounds involved. We rebuke any spirit of bitterness, unforgiveness, or resentment that may be trying to take root in your heart. The Word of God commands us to forgive as we have been forgiven (Colossians 3:13), and to bless those who have hurt us (Romans 12:14). This does not mean excusing sin or enabling harmful behavior, but it does mean releasing the person, and the situation, into God’s hands.
We also take authority over any demonic influences that may be at work in this man’s life. The Bible warns us that our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against spiritual forces of evil (Ephesians 6:12). We bind every spirit of pride, deception, and narcissism in the name of Jesus Christ, and we command them to flee. We declare that no weapon formed against this family shall prosper (Isaiah 54:17), and we pray for the Holy Spirit to convict him of sin, righteousness, and judgment (John 16:8).
Father God, we lift up this man to You. We ask that You would open his eyes to the truth, that his family was indeed a blessing, not a burden. Soften his heart, Lord, and let him see the value of what he had. If it is Your will, restore what has been broken, but only in a way that brings glory to Your name and aligns with Your perfect plan. We pray for healing in every heart affected by this situation, including the children, if there are any. May they know Your love, Your peace, and Your protection.
We also pray for wisdom and discernment for the one who submitted this request. Help them to walk in forgiveness, to trust in Your sovereignty, and to seek relationships that honor You. If this man is not the one You have chosen for them, prepare their heart for the spouse You have ordained, someone who will love and lead as Christ loves the Church (Ephesians 5:25).

We surrender this situation into Your hands, trusting that You work all things together for good for those who love You and are called according to Your purpose (Romans 8:28). If there are children involved, we pray for their innocence to remain untouched by this conflict, and that they would feel Your protection and Your love deeply.

If this relationship was never meant to be, guide them toward Your perfect plan, and if it was, help them to see the way forward with Your strength. And Lord, we bind any spirit of deception or manipulation that might have clouded his judgment. Break those chains in Jesus’ name.

I prayed for this in Jesus Name. Amen.
We want to thank you for trusting us with the privilege of standing in prayer alongside you for your ex-partner. It takes great faith and humility to lift up someone who has been difficult in your life, and we admire your heart in seeking God’s intervention on his behalf. We have been praying specifically for the Lord to break any narcissistic strongholds and to sever any demonic influences that may be blinding him to the truth. Our prayers have also been that his eyes would be opened to see the blessing this family once was, rather than a burden, and that his heart would be softened to receive God’s love and correction.
We continue to stand in agreement with you, believing that the Holy Spirit is at work even when we cannot see it. If the Lord has already moved in this situation, we would love to hear a praise report so we can rejoice with you. If it seems like the answer hasn’t come yet, please don’t hesitate to post this request again—we are here to lift you both up until God’s will is fully revealed.
