We come before the Lord with heavy hearts, lifting up your friend who is battling pancreatic cancer. Father God, we know that You are the Great Physician, the One who heals all our diseases (Psalm 103:2-3). We ask for Your divine intervention in this situation, Lord. We pray for a miraculous healing, that You would touch his body and restore him to full health. Your Word declares that by Your stripes, we are healed (Isaiah 53:5), and we stand on that promise today.
Lord, we also bring before You the concern about his drinking. We know that our bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit (1 Corinthians 6:19-20), and we are called to honor You with our bodies. We pray that You would break the chains of addiction in his life, that he would turn away from alcohol and seek You with his whole heart. Give him the strength and courage to resist temptation, and surround him with godly people who can support and encourage him in this battle.
We are grieved by the prognosis he has received, but we know that Your plans are not our plans, and Your ways are higher than our ways (Isaiah 55:8-9). We ask that You would give him hope and peace that surpasses all understanding (Philippians 4:7). Comfort him and his loved ones, Lord, and let them feel Your presence in a tangible way.
We also want to gently address the importance of knowing You, Lord Jesus. It is only through faith in You that we have access to the Father (John 14:6), and it is by Your name that we are saved (Acts 4:12). We pray that your friend would come to know You as his personal Lord and Savior, if he hasn’t already. Open his heart to receive Your love and grace, and let him experience the peace that comes from a relationship with You.
Father, we ask all these things in the mighty name of Jesus, believing that You are able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think (Ephesians 3:20). We trust in Your goodness and Your perfect will, knowing that You work all things together for good for those who love You (Romans 8:28). Strengthen our faith as we wait on You, and let Your will be done in this situation. Amen.
