Dear God, I pray that you will stop my ### from gaming. It is exam period and all his mind is about gaming and did not want to put in effort to study, thinking that he is hopeless and without value.

Please help him to see that if he is willing to put in effort he can do better. I am helpless in advising him daily but he didn't want to listen.

Please help me and my ###. Get him on a right path, not to derail from academic pathway.

We come before the Lord with you in this time of concern for your son, lifting him up in prayer and seeking God’s wisdom and intervention. It is clear that you love him deeply and desire what is best for him, and we join you in asking the Lord to work mightily in his heart and mind. However, we must first address something important: in your prayer, the name of Jesus Christ was not invoked. The Bible tells us in John 14:6, *"Jesus said to him, 'I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me.'"* And in Acts 4:12, we are reminded, *"There is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among men, by which we must be saved!"* It is only through the name of Jesus that we have access to the Father, and it is in His name that we pray with authority and confidence. Without calling upon the name of Jesus, our prayers lack the power and connection to God’s will that we so desperately need. We encourage you to always pray in the name of Jesus, for He is our mediator and the source of all hope and transformation.

Now, let us address the situation with your son. The struggle he is facing with gaming and his lack of motivation in his studies is not uncommon, but it is a spiritual battle that requires godly wisdom and intervention. The Bible warns us in 1 Corinthians 10:23, *"All things are lawful for me, but not all things are profitable. All things are lawful for me, but not all things build up."* While gaming itself may not be sinful, it becomes a problem when it consumes time and energy that should be devoted to responsibilities, such as studying, or when it becomes an idol that distracts from God’s purposes. Your son’s belief that he is hopeless and without value is a lie from the enemy. The Word of God declares in Jeremiah 29:11, *"For I know the plans that I have for you,’ says Yahweh, ‘plans for peace, and not for evil, to give you hope and a future."* And in Philippians 4:13, we are reminded, *"I can do all things through Christ, who strengthens me."*

It is also important to recognize that this may be a heart issue. If your son is struggling with feelings of worthlessness or a lack of purpose, it may be because he has not yet surrendered his life to Jesus Christ or is not walking closely with Him. Without Christ, we are all lost and without true hope. If he does not know Jesus as his Lord and Savior, we urge you to share the Gospel with him. Romans 10:9 tells us, *"that if you will confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved."* True transformation and purpose come only through a relationship with Jesus. If he is already a believer, then this is a time to encourage him to draw near to God and seek His strength and direction.

We also want to address the dynamic between you and your son. While your concern is valid, it is important to remember that nagging or constant advising can sometimes push a person further away, especially if they feel condemned rather than loved. Ephesians 6:4 instructs fathers (and by extension, parents), *"Don’t provoke your children to wrath, but nurture them in the discipline and instruction of the Lord."* Sometimes, the best thing we can do is to pray fervently and trust God to work in ways we cannot. Your son needs to make his own choices, but your prayers and your example of faith can guide him.

Let us also consider Proverbs 22:6, *"Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not depart from it."* If your son has been raised with godly principles, trust that the Lord will use those seeds planted in his heart to bring him back to the right path. But if there has been a lack of spiritual foundation, now is the time to build that with him, pointing him to Scripture and to the hope found in Christ alone.

Now, let us pray together for your son:

Heavenly Father, we come before You in the mighty and precious name of Jesus Christ, lifting up this mother and her son to You. Lord, we ask that You would open his eyes to see the truth—that he is fearfully and wonderfully made by You, and that You have a purpose and a plan for his life. Father, we rebuke the spirit of laziness, distraction, and hopelessness that has taken hold of him. We declare that these are not from You, but from the enemy who seeks to steal, kill, and destroy. Lord, break the chains of addiction to gaming and replace it with a hunger for Your Word and a passion for the gifts and talents You have given him.

We pray that You would give him a spirit of diligence and excellence in his studies. Help him to see that his efforts are not in vain, but that You reward those who seek You and work with integrity. Father, surround him with godly influences—friends, mentors, or teachers who will encourage him in the right direction. If he has strayed from You, Lord, draw him back with Your lovingkindness. Soften his heart to receive Your truth and to walk in obedience to Your will.

We also lift up this mother, Lord. Give her wisdom in how to speak to her son, that her words would be seasoned with grace and truth. Help her to trust You even when she cannot see the change she longs for. Strengthen her faith and fill her with Your peace as she waits on You to move in his life.

Father, we ask that You would place a hedge of protection around him, guarding his mind from the lies of the enemy and filling him with Your Holy Spirit. Let him know that his worth is found in You alone, and that with You, all things are possible. We declare that he will walk in the path You have set before him, that he will rise up with purpose and determination, and that he will bring glory to Your name in all that he does.

We thank You, Lord, for hearing our prayers. We trust in Your faithfulness and Your power to transform lives. May Your will be done in his life, and may he come to know You more deeply through this season. We ask all these things in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. Amen.

Come to the Lord's holy presence. Seek him with all your heart. Cling to his Word and meditate on it moment by moment by positive thoughts and joy in the heart (James 1:2-4), knowing that the Lord is good and to him be all the praise. Seek first God's kingdom and his righteousness (Matthew 6:33). Even though life may feel hard, the Lord's hand will be on you, and he will answer in his time. I am praying for you. Amen.
