Good and Faithful Servant
Just because I work contract biz analyst job and get fired due to I don't want to do illegal things. Then the mentor at church ask me to go and do sell macd or do plumber work. And mask it as God will for me and I was covetousness if I take up managerial or Business analyst role. And Singaporean could only do jobs like plumber and sell Macd and low level job. We don't have the highly skilled and those highly skilled are for foreigners to do. I felt so insulted. And how could he say that just because I work contract and use that as a string to measure. And ask him that professor to do such he don't want to do and kept forcing me to do don't want kept nagging until I refuse to go church. And also he dare to overwrite God plans to marriage just because he is single want me to be single and looked down upon me and say I cannot afford to start a family. With my job as a business analyst and that they are maciam like God like this say this is God will but it is actually their will. And say don't talk about education follow God (their) forceful prejudices on me where it is a seasonal thing and masked it as God will that I do jobs that could not feed myself. And make a mockery of it like a laughing stock just because of the AI push. U said la under such circumstances do one still continue and they dared to deceive me

We have heard your hurt and we bring it before the Lord together, and we thank you for standing firm for righteousness when you refused to do illegal things even though it cost you your contract job as a business analyst. That is integrity before God and men, and the Lord honors it. Lying lips are an abomination to Yahweh, but those who do the truth are his delight Proverbs 12:22. Like Daniel who purposed not to defile himself, you chose to fear God rather than man, and we praise God for that faithful witness even in the face of being fired.

We also grieve with you over what your mentor at church has spoken over you. To tell you that desiring to use the skills God has given you in a managerial or business analyst role is covetousness, and that God's will for you as a Singaporean is only low level work like selling at McDonald's or plumbing while highly skilled work is only for foreigners, is not the counsel of Scripture. It is prejudice and a misuse of spiritual authority. We rebuke that teaching. The Bible teaches that whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord, and not for men Colossians 3:23, and that we should aspire to lead a quiet life, to do our own business, and to work with our own hands 1 Thessalonians 4:11. All honest work has dignity before God, whether plumbing or business analysis, but God also distributes gifts and callings differently, and to despise the intellectual and analytical gifts He has given you and to force you into work that cannot provide for you is not God's will but man's will being masked as God's will. They worship me in vain, teaching as doctrines the commandments of men Matthew 15:9. God gives wisdom and skill, and education and experience are not to be dismissed, for every good gift and every perfect gift is from above James 1:17, and if any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally James 1:5.

We also want to address what was spoken over your future marriage. We believe marriage is honorable and ordained by God as a lifelong commitment between a man and a woman Genesis 2:24, Mark 10:6-9, and it is good to desire to marry and start a family. It is not for a mentor, especially one who is single, to overwrite what God may have planned for you and to declare you must remain single because he is single, or to look down on you and say you cannot afford a family. While singleness can be a gift for undistracted devotion 1 Corinthians 7:7, so is marriage, and it is God who directs that path, not man. The Lord knows your desire for a godly marriage and we encourage you to pursue courtship with the goal of marriage to a fellow believer in Christ, not to be discouraged by one man's opinion. The steps of a man are established by Yahweh Psalm 37:23, and For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says Yahweh, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you hope and a future Jeremiah 29:11. Your contract status does not define your worth or your ability to provide; God measures by faithfulness and stewardship, and we trust He will provide as you seek first Gods Kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well Matthew 6:33.

We understand why you felt insulted and mocked, and why you have pulled away from gathering with the church after being nagged and forced. We gently encourage you not to let the hurt from one man keep you from fellowship altogether, for we should not forsake our own assembling together Hebrews 10:25, but we also understand the need to find a healthy, Bible believing fellowship where leaders shepherd willingly, not lording it over those entrusted to you 1 Peter 5:2-3, and where counsel is given with humility and truth. It is right to test every spirit and to hold fast to what is good 1 Thessalonians 5:21. Do not let the current season of AI change and job uncertainty make you feel like a laughing stock, for God is still sovereign over seasons and work. We cast our anxiety on Him because He cares for us 1 Peter 5:7, and we trust that He will open doors no man can shut.

We noticed your request did not mention the name of Jesus Christ, and we want to lovingly remind you that it is only through Jesus that we have access to the Father. There is salvation in none other, for neither is there any other name under heaven, that is given among men, by which we must be saved Acts 4:12, and Jesus said I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me John 14:6. If you have not already, we urge you to put your trust in Jesus Christ, who died for our sins and rose again, and to call upon His name, for whoever will call on the name of the Lord will be saved Romans 10:13.

We pray together for you now.

Father in heaven, we come before You in the name of Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior. We lift up our brother to You who has suffered loss for doing what is right, and we ask You to vindicate his integrity and to provide for his daily needs. Lord, open the right doors for work that fits the gifts and training You have given him as a business analyst, work that is honest and that allows him to provide and to be a good steward. We ask You to heal the wound of insult and mockery, to remove the false words spoken over him that he is only fit for low work or that he must remain single, and to replace those lies with Your truth about his value and calling. Give him wisdom to discern Your will from the will of men, give him a godly church family where he is encouraged and not coerced, and if it is Your will, lead him to a godly wife and help him build a marriage that honors You. Guard his heart from bitterness, help him to forgive as You have forgiven us Ephesians 4:32, and keep him steadfast knowing that all things work together for good for those who love God Romans 8:28. We ask this in the mighty name of Jesus, amen.

We encourage you to remain faithful in doing what is right, to keep developing the skills God has given you without shame, to pray for wisdom in your next steps, and to seek counsel from mature believers who will point you to Scripture rather than to their own prejudices. God sees your faithfulness and He has not forgotten you.

We were burdened to read what you have been carrying. Losing a contract role because you would not do something illegal took real integrity, and it is understandable you feel insulted and worn down after that, then to have a mentor tell you that wanting to stay in your field as a business analyst is covetousness, and that selling or plumbing is God's will for you because you are Singaporean.

When someone speaks so forcefully on behalf of God, especially about your work and your future marriage, it can leave you questioning your own discernment and whether church is safe. Please hear that one person's strong preference is not the same as God's leading. Your skills, training and experience as an analyst matter, and desiring work that fits those gifts and can support a family is not greed. It is wise stewardship.

What you described about being pressured about singleness and finances, and being nagged until you stepped away from church, sounds deeply discouraging. Stepping back for a time to get space makes sense, we hope you do not have to walk alone in this.

A next step that may help is to separate what was said from what God is actually showing you. It could be helpful to talk through your vocational direction with a different trusted pastor or a Christian mentor outside that one relationship, someone who will listen to your whole story and respect both your conscience and your professional background, while you continue a steady job search in your field through former colleagues and professional contacts.

Father, in Jesus' name we lift our brother to You. You saw the choice he made to do what is right at cost to himself. Bring provision and open doors for honest work, heal the hurt from words that felt demeaning, and give him clear wisdom and peace as he seeks Your direction for work and family.

Your grief has been heard, and there is much in it that calls for both comfort and correction. To be cast out of employment because you would not do what is illegal is not a shame but an honor. The Lord sees that choice, and though man may despise you for it, He does not. It is better to suffer for righteousness sake than to prosper by iniquity, for the wages of sin can never feed the soul.

It is a grievous thing when those who should be as a nursing mother to the soul instead lay heavy burdens upon it and call their own prejudices the will of God. All honest labor is honorable in the sight of God, whether a man works with his hands as a plumber or with his mind as an analyst, if he works faithfully as unto the Lord. But it is not the work of a true shepherd to despise the gifts God has given you, nor to brand as covetousness the desire to use those gifts diligently and to provide for yourself and for a household. The talents entrusted to you are to be traded with and not buried, and to seek a station where you can exercise skill, integrity and diligence is good stewardship, not sin. No man has authority to declare that your countrymen are fit only for low work while higher work belongs to others. That is the language of insult, not of Scripture, which teaches that God has set each one in his place and that whatever honest calling you pursue, you may glorify Him in it.

So also concerning marriage. The Scripture presents marriage as a union born of choice and cemented by mutual love, wherein two become one. It is not to be forced nor forbidden by the will of another. No mentor, however well esteemed, may overwrite the Lord's leading in this tender matter, nor may he demand that you remain single because he is single, nor despise your hope to build a family. Marriage is honorable, and the desire to enter it soberly, to provide and to love faithfully within the lifelong covenant of one man and one woman, is not to be mocked. The Church is meant to be a blessing to those round about her hill, and to nourish her children, not to make a laughingstock of their hopes or to use the name of God to enforce a seasonable opinion about economy or skill.

That you have been nagged and misled until you have turned aside from gathering with the people of God is a wound that needs healing. Do not let the unfaithfulness of one voice keep you from the fellowship of the faithful. Seek a place where the Word is preached plainly, where the ordinances are kept, where the people continue steadfast in doctrine and in love, and where counsel is given with humility and not with dominion. A true church will rejoice in your integrity, will help you bear your burden, and will pray with you for open doors.

We will pray for you now.

O Father, Thou seest this Thy servant who has chosen the hard path of honesty and has been wounded for it. Comfort him where he has been insulted and misjudged. Provide for his daily bread and open a door for honest work where his skills may be used for good and where he need not defile his conscience. Guard him from deceitful teaching that clothes the will of man in Thy name. Give him wisdom to discern Thy will, courage to walk in it, and grace to forgive those who have misused their place. If it be Thy will that he should marry, prepare the way and grant him the means to provide with honor. Lead him to a faithful household of faith where he may be nurtured and where he may serve. Keep him from despair in this season of change and fear, and let him know that his labor is not in vain in the Lord. We ask this in the name of Jesus Christ, our only hope and our true Husband, who bore shame for His people that they might be presented without spot. Amen.
