Good and Faithful Servant
My church mentor constantly looked down on me and belittled me, masking his personal agenda as 'God's will' as if he were Jesus himself. Despite my qualifications for high-paying roles, he pushed me to accept low-paying jobs—even suggesting fast-food roles like McDonald's—when my goal is to work as a Business Analyst. He weaponized scripture, comparing me to the unfaithful servant in the Parable of the Talents, despite God giving me the specific skill set for my field. He used unfair circumstances, unrealistic expectations, and the fact that I held contract positions to mock me, diminish my self-worth, and force me into his idea of 'God's will.' Because of this constant condescension and spiritual abuse disguised as piety, I no longer go to church. He tried to threaten and demean me into taking low-paying or part-time work, but I owe him no explanation for how I manage my life. Leaving that environment was the right choice for my peace and independence.And this is the so called Christianity and use one forgive and forget to cover it. This is how Christians behave and the church behave and should be how Jesus taught them to be. To see people with a narrow eyes and belittled them under the pretense of God will just to say forgive and forget. So did Jesus taught them how to looked down on people and to trampled and isolated them when they need encouragement. This must be what Jesus taught or not how the Christian and the church behaves as such. If this is not how Jesus and the Bible is then how did the so called Christians become so proud and arrogant and masked sin under God will. And use this to teach humility where it is humiliation.Ask Jesus and holy spirit to tell the pastor in charge of the mentor the action that he have done else it will continue to push people out and leave Jesus and Christianity due to this.
 
We hear the deep pain and betrayal in your words, and our hearts ache with you. What you have described is not the heart of Christ or the true essence of His church. Jesus came to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim freedom to the captives, and to comfort those who mourn, not to crush the spirit of His children under the weight of false piety and manipulation. The behavior you endured is a distortion of the Gospel, and it grieves the Holy Spirit when God’s name is used to justify control, condescension, or spiritual abuse.

First, we must address the misuse of Scripture in your situation. The Parable of the Talents (Matthew 25:14-30) is about stewardship and faithfulness, not about forcing someone into roles that diminish their God-given gifts. The master in that parable entrusted his servants with talents according to their ability, not to belittle them, but to see them flourish. Your mentor twisted this passage to serve his own agenda, and that is a grave misuse of God’s Word. Scripture warns against those who "speak perverse things, to draw away the disciples after themselves" (Acts 20:30). What you experienced was not godly leadership; it was spiritual manipulation, and it is not of God.

You are right to reject the idea that forgiveness means tolerating abuse or allowing someone to continue harming you under the guise of "God’s will." Forgiveness is a command, but it does not require you to subject yourself to ongoing mistreatment or to remain in an environment where your spirit is being crushed. Jesus Himself said, "If your brother sins against you, go and tell him his fault between you and him alone. If he listens to you, you have gained back your brother. But if he doesn’t listen, take one or two more with you, that at the mouth of two or three witnesses every word may be established. If he refuses to listen to them, tell it to the assembly. If he refuses to hear the assembly also, let him be to you as a Gentile or a tax collector" (Matthew 18:15-17). There is a process for addressing sin, and when someone refuses to repent, there are boundaries that must be set. You did the right thing by removing yourself from that toxic environment.

We also want to address your frustration with the phrase "forgive and forget." While forgiveness is essential, it does not erase the consequences of sin or negate the need for accountability. God is just, and He does not turn a blind eye to injustice. Psalm 94:16 says, "Who will rise up for me against the wicked? Who will stand up for me against the evildoers?" You are not wrong to desire justice or to call out what was done to you. The church is called to be a place of healing, not harm, and when leaders abuse their authority, it is right to expose it so that others are not wounded in the same way.

To those who would say, "This is just how Christians behave," we say: No. This is not how Christ behaves, and it is not how His true followers should behave. Jesus reserved His harshest words for the religious leaders of His day who burdened people with heavy loads they could not carry (Matthew 23:4) and who shut the kingdom of heaven in people’s faces (Matthew 23:13). He called them "whitewashed tombs", beautiful on the outside but full of dead men’s bones (Matthew 23:27). What you experienced was not the fruit of the Spirit; it was the fruit of pride, arrogance, and a heart that had strayed from the love of Christ.

We must also address the issue of salvation. You mentioned asking Jesus and the Holy Spirit to intervene, but we want to gently remind you that it is only through the name of Jesus that we have access to the Father. There is no other name under heaven by which we must be saved (Acts 4:12). If you have not already, we encourage you to place your trust in Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior, for He is the only way to true peace, healing, and restoration. He is the Good Shepherd who lays down His life for His sheep, not the hireling who flees when the wolf comes (John 10:11-13). If you have already placed your faith in Him, we rejoice with you and pray that He will continue to draw you closer to His heart as you heal from this wound.

Now, let us pray for you:

Heavenly Father, we come before You with heavy hearts, lifting up our dear brother/sister who has been deeply wounded by those who were supposed to reflect Your love. Lord, You see the pain, the betrayal, and the confusion that has been sown into their spirit. We ask that You would bind up their broken heart and heal their wounds, for You are near to the brokenhearted and save those who are crushed in spirit (Psalm 34:18).

Father, we rebuke the spirit of control, manipulation, and spiritual abuse that was at work in this situation. We declare that Your name was taken in vain, and we ask that You would expose the truth and bring accountability to those who misused Your Word. Lord, we pray for the pastor in charge of this mentor, that You would open their eyes to see the harm that has been done and to take action to prevent others from being wounded in the same way. Convict the hearts of those who have strayed from Your truth, and grant them the humility to repent and seek restoration.

We pray for our brother/sister’s healing and restoration. Lord, You have given them gifts and talents, and we ask that You would open doors for them to use those gifts in ways that bring You glory. Remove any lies that have taken root in their mind, that they are unworthy, that they are not enough, or that You do not have a good plan for their life. Replace those lies with Your truth: that they are fearfully and wonderfully made (Psalm 139:14), that You have plans to prosper them and not to harm them (Jeremiah 29:11), and that You will never leave them nor forsake them (Hebrews 13:5).

Father, we ask that You would restore their faith in Your church. Lord, we know that Your bride is not perfect, but we also know that You love her and are working to purify her. Help our brother/sister to see the true church, the body of Christ that loves, serves, and uplifts one another. Lead them to a community of believers who will encourage them, pray for them, and walk alongside them in their journey. Give them the wisdom to discern where You are calling them to serve and the courage to step into that calling without fear.

We pray for their emotional and mental well-being. Lord, the enemy would love to use this wound to keep them isolated and bitter, but we declare that You are greater. Fill them with Your peace that surpasses all understanding (Philippians 4:7) and surround them with Your love. Help them to release any bitterness or unforgiveness, not because what was done was okay, but because You have called us to forgive as You have forgiven us (Colossians 3:13). Give them the strength to set healthy boundaries while still extending grace.

Finally, Lord, we ask that You would use this painful experience for Your glory. Turn this wound into a testimony of Your faithfulness and Your healing power. Let their story be one that brings hope to others who have been hurt by the church, and use them to be a light in the darkness. May they come to know You more deeply through this trial, and may they emerge with a stronger faith and a greater trust in Your goodness.

We pray all of this in the mighty name of Jesus, the One who came to set the captives free and to bind up the brokenhearted. Amen.

Bless me with the love, desire, strength, and the spirit of obedience to always delight myself in You, seek first Your kingdom, Your righteousness, and to always respect and obey You. Bless me to know You, so that I can trust You with all my heart, acknowledge You in all my ways, and lean not to my own understanding. Bless me with knowledge, wisdom, and understanding in all You have called me to do.

God heal me in every area of my life. Deliver and cleanse me of everything in my life that doesn't honor You. Transform and renew my mind. Bless me with love, power, and a sound mind. Let the mind that is in Christ Jesus be in me. Bless me to have and operate with a God-conscious-solution-focused-heart-mind-spirit-and-attitude. Bless me to have a God Kingdom Culture Mentality. God be with me as a mighty warrior. Let no weapon formed against me prosper. Protect me from all the plans of my enemies and the plans of the enemy of my soul. God, all that I have asked of You, in this prayer, please do the same for the writer of the prayer, all those who love and care about me, and all those I love and care about. Heal Me Lord Jesus Spirit, Soul, And Body

 
Romans 8:38-39: And I am convinced that nothing can ever separate us from God’s love. Neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither our fears for today nor our worries about tomorrow—not even the powers of hell can separate us from God’s love. No power in the sky above or in the earth below—indeed, nothing in all creation will ever be able to separate us from the love of God that is revealed in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Everything in life changes—relationships, jobs, health, finances. But there’s one thing in the universe that will never change: God’s love. He loves you so much that it hurt. He sacrificed his Son. When Jesus died for you, he was saying he loved you so much he’d rather die than live without you.

The Bible says that’s what real love—the kind of love you can build your life on. Real love makes sacrifices. Real love gives all. Real love endures for all eternity.

That’s the kind of love only God has for you. He’s waiting with open arms to show you his goodness, mercy, and love.
