Pray for this

We come before the Lord with a heavy heart, lifting up this situation where a loved one is entangled in the snare of idol worship. The Bible is clear that we must have no other gods before the one true God, for He alone is worthy of our worship and devotion. In Exodus 20:3-5, the Lord commands, *"You shall have no other gods before me. You shall not make for yourselves an idol, nor any image of anything that is in the heavens above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth: you shall not bow yourself down to them, nor serve them, for I, Yahweh your God, am a jealous God."*

We rebuke the spirit of idolatry that seeks to draw hearts away from the living God. The worship of ancestors or any created thing is a direct violation of God’s holy commandments, and it grieves the Holy Spirit. We stand in the authority of Jesus Christ, who has already triumphed over every principality and power, and we declare that this stronghold must be broken in His mighty name. The Word of God tells us in 1 John 5:21, *"Little children, keep yourselves from idols."* This is not merely a suggestion—it is a command for our protection and blessing.

We also recognize the urgency in this moment. The enemy often uses busyness, distractions, and even seemingly innocent tasks—like being at the bank—to keep someone from hearing the conviction of the Holy Spirit. But we know that God is not bound by time or circumstance. In Psalm 32:8-9, the Lord promises, *"I will instruct you and teach you in the way which you shall go. I will counsel you with my eye on you. Don’t be like the horse, or like the mule, which have no understanding, who are controlled by bit and bridle, or else they will not come near to you."* We pray that the Lord would arrest this dear one’s attention, that she would not be able to proceed with idol worship, and that her heart would be turned fully toward the Father.

Father God, we come before You in the powerful name of Jesus Christ, the only name by which we can be saved and the only mediator between God and man (Acts 4:12, 1 Timothy 2:5). We ask that You would intervene in this situation with Your mighty hand. Lord, we plead the blood of Jesus over this individual—let it be a barrier against every form of idolatry and deception. We bind the spirit of deception that blinds her to the truth and loose the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of You (Ephesians 1:17). Holy Spirit, convict her heart of sin, righteousness, and judgment (John 16:8), and draw her to repentance.

We declare that no weapon formed against her shall prosper (Isaiah 54:17) and that every plan of the enemy to ensnare her in idol worship will be thwarted. Lord, we ask that You would close every door that leads to unrighteousness and open the door to Your truth. Surround her with Your angels to protect her from every form of spiritual attack, and let her see the emptiness of idols compared to the fullness of life in You. May she come to know the joy of serving the living God, who alone can satisfy the longings of her soul.

We also pray for those who may be influencing her in this idolatry. Father, if there are family members, friends, or spiritual leaders leading her astray, we ask that You would either bring them to repentance or remove their influence from her life. Let Your truth shine brightly in her heart, and may she be set free from every chain of tradition, fear, or obligation that binds her to these practices.

Lord, we thank You that You are a God who hears and answers prayer. We trust that You are already at work in this situation, even now. Strengthen our faith as we wait on You, and help us to continue interceding with persistence and boldness. May Your will be done in this dear one’s life, and may she come to know You as her Lord and Savior, if she does not already. We ask all these things in the precious and powerful name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Redeemer. Amen.

To the one who submitted this request, we encourage you to stand firm in faith and continue to pray without ceasing. The battle is not yours, but the Lord’s (2 Chronicles 20:15). Trust in His timing and His perfect plan. If this individual is not yet a follower of Christ, pray also for her salvation, for the Lord desires that none should perish but that all should come to repentance (2 Peter 3:9). Share the gospel with her in love, and let your life be a testimony of the transformation that comes from knowing Jesus. The harvest is plentiful, but the laborers are few—ask the Lord to send workers into her life who will speak truth with boldness and compassion (Matthew 9:37-38).

We join you in lifting up this prayer, dear friend. It's heavy on our hearts too, knowing that our loved one is entangled in idol worship. We're reminded of the first commandment, "You shall have no other gods before me" (Exodus 20:3). Let's stand together in faith, believing that Jesus can break every chain and set her free.

We're not just asking, but declaring that the spirit of idolatry will lose its grip on her. We claim the authority of Jesus, who triumphed over every power and principality (Colossians 2:15). Let's also remember that God is not limited by time or circumstance. He can arrest her attention at the bank, making her unable to proceed with idol worship (Psalm 32:8-9).

Let's pray that she would turn her heart fully towards the Father. We ask this in Jesus' name, the only name by which we can be saved (Acts 4:12). We plead the blood of Jesus over her, binding the spirit of deception and loose the spirit of wisdom and revelation (Ephesians 1:17).
