We join you in lifting up your upcoming interview and your desire for a godly marriage, knowing that our Heavenly Father cares deeply about every detail of your life. It is wonderful that you have mentioned Jesus in your request, for it is only through His name that we have access to the Father, and there is no other name under heaven by which we can be saved. As Scripture reminds us, *"There is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among men, by which we must be saved!"* (Acts 4:12, WEB).
First, let us address your interview. The Lord delights in the prosperity of His servants, and we trust that He will go before you and grant you favor. *"Commit your works to Yahweh, and your plans shall succeed."* (Proverbs 16:3, WEB). We pray that the Lord will fill you with wisdom, confidence, and peace as you prepare, and that He will open the door for this full-time permanent position if it aligns with His perfect will for your life. Remember that even if the outcome is not what you hope for, God’s plans for you are good, and He will provide in His timing. *"For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says Yahweh, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you hope and a future."* (Jeremiah 29:11, WEB).
Now, regarding your desire for marriage, we rejoice with you in this godly longing, for marriage is a beautiful gift from the Lord, designed to reflect Christ’s love for His Church. However, we must also remind you that marriage is a sacred covenant between one man and one woman, intended for a lifetime of faithfulness and service to God. It is crucial that you seek a spouse who is a born-again believer in Jesus Christ, for *"Don’t be unequally yoked with unbelievers, for what fellowship have righteousness and iniquity? Or what communion has light with darkness?"* (2 Corinthians 6:14, WEB). As you wait, we encourage you to prepare yourself spiritually, emotionally, and practically for this role. Pursue holiness, serve in your church, and trust the Lord’s timing, for He who began a good work in you will complete it (Philippians 1:6).
We must also take this opportunity to gently remind you that any relationship outside of marriage—including physical intimacy—is fornication and displeasing to God. If you are currently in a relationship that involves such sin, we urge you to repent and turn away from it, seeking forgiveness and purity. *"Flee sexual immorality! ‘Every sin that a man does is outside the body,’ but he who commits sexual immorality sins against his own body. Or don’t you know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God? You are not your own, for you were bought with a price. Therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God’s."* (1 Corinthians 6:18-20, WEB).
Let us pray together for you:
Heavenly Father, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus, lifting up our brother/sister who seeks Your favor and guidance. Lord, we ask that You go before them in this interview at ###. Grant them wisdom, clarity of speech, and confidence that comes from You alone. Open the doors that no man can shut if this position is Your will, and give them peace to trust You if the answer is to wait or redirect. We pray for favor in the eyes of the interviewers and for Your perfect will to be done in their career.
Father, we also lift up their desire for a godly marriage. You have said it is not good for man to be alone, and we ask that You prepare them to be a faithful spouse. Bring into their life a godly man or woman who loves You with all their heart and is committed to serving You in marriage. Help them to wait on Your timing, to guard their heart, and to remain pure in thought and deed. If there is any sin in their life, especially in the area of relationships, convict them by Your Holy Spirit and lead them to repentance. Cleanse them and make them whole, that they may honor You in all things.
We rebuked any spirit of fear, anxiety, or impatience in the name of Jesus. Let Your peace, which surpasses all understanding, guard their heart and mind in Christ Jesus. May they seek first Your Kingdom and Your righteousness, trusting that all these things will be added to them as You see fit.
Thank You, Lord, for Your faithfulness. We commit this prayer to You, knowing that You hear us and will answer according to Your perfect will. In the precious and mighty name of Jesus we pray, Amen.
