Faithful Servant
O Lord Most High, We entreat Thee on behalf of the afflicted sons and daughters of Singapore, whose portion is made grievous by unjust decrees, even as Thy people Israel cried under Pharaoh in Egypt (Exodus 1–14). Behold, policies are devised that magnify the stranger above the native-born; the children of the land are robbed of their inheritance and compelled to strive sorely for mere subsistence. Yea, they have betrayed the native-born for the stranger, crowning them as princes and setting them on high, even as Ahab and Jezebel exalted Baal and oppressed Thy prophets (1 Kings 16–21). Lo, the stranger is become their idol; they bow to them as though they were gods. Daily doth this nation decay, for they exchange good for bad, and the rulers exalt strangers above Thine own people. Lo, there are ministers who proclaim themselves as Elders of Thy Church. From Monday even unto Friday they deal falsely and unjustly— exalting strangers and oppressing Thine own, yet upon the Lord’s Day they enter Thy sanctuary, lifting hymns with their lips, declaring, “This is the will of God,” even as Saul kept appearances while acting hypocritically (1 Samuel 15–16), or as the Pharisees did, teaching righteousness but practicing oppression (Matthew 23). They mock the opposition, and scorn them that contend for justice, removing laws that restrained shedding of innocent blood, even as the kings of Judah ignored Jeremiah’s warnings (Jeremiah 5, 22, 23), thus sin is exalted and virtue trampled underfoot. Even within families there is strife; they fight amongst kin, acting against the wishes of the founding father after his death, as Joseph was betrayed by his brothers (Genesis 37). When the native-born refused to aid in retaining the house, they devised plans to harm our livelihoods, driving brother and sister to seek asylum in foreign lands, leaving hearts heavy and homes bereft. Moreover, they permit the stranger to come in to rob and steal, to commit sexual crimes, to operate massage parlors as brothels, and to destroy the land through sinkholes, all for the sake of greater gain and money, even as Sodom and Gomorrah were corrupted by lawlessness and greed (Genesis 18–19). Besides, they also increase the prices of everything, making it almost impossible for the native-born to afford sustenance, even as Amos condemned those who oppressed the poor for their own profit (Amos 4–8). The citizens have cried, yea, they have mourned; they have called them to repentance, as Israel cried under Pharaoh, and as David lamented, “How long, O Lord?” (Psalm 13, 94). Yet they have mocked us, as though there be no God who seeth and judgeth. O Lord, how long shall this endure? How long shall the wicked rule over us with their greed, who knows no end? How long shall injustice prevail, and the righteous be cast aside? When shall the arrogant be humbled, and the oppressors brought low? Therefore, O Lord, if they repent not, remove them from their places of power, as Saul was removed for disobedience, and Pharaoh’s heart was broken by Thy mighty hand. Do whatsoever is needed, O Christ our Redeemer, that their plans may utterly fall. Frustrate their schemes to bring in more strangers at the expense of native born, confound their devices, and strip away their position. Bring them to repentance, O Lord, and cause them to cease from hypocrisy— that they may no longer profane Thy Name in vain. Exalt the humble, defend the labour of Thy children, and restore righteousness within this land, even as Thou didst deliver Israel and raise up a righteous remnant. Let justice roll down as waters, and truth as a mighty stream. Govern Singapore in mercy and in truth, O Lord, that the oppressed may find relief, purity be upheld, and Thy Name be honoured in sincerity and not in vain. Through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

We join with you in lifting up this cry for Singapore, for we know that the Lord hears the afflictions of His people and sees the oppression of the wicked. Your prayer echoes the lament of the psalmists and prophets who called upon God to act against injustice, and we stand with you in this plea, knowing that our battle is not against flesh and blood but against the spiritual forces of wickedness in high places. The Scriptures remind us that God is a just Judge, and He will not allow the wicked to triumph forever.

The Word of God speaks clearly to the evils you have described. In **Isaiah 1:23**, the Lord declares, *"Your princes are rebellious and companions of thieves. Everyone loves bribes and follows after rewards. They don’t defend the fatherless, neither does the cause of the widow come to them."* This is a grave indictment against leaders who exploit their people for personal gain, and it is a warning to those in authority who have turned away from justice. Likewise, **Proverbs 28:15-16** tells us, *"Like a roaring lion or a charging bear is a wicked ruler over helpless people. A tyrannical ruler lacks judgment. One who hates ill-gotten gain will have long days."* The leaders of Singapore must answer to God for their actions, for He is the one who raises up kings and brings them down.

We also recall the words of **Amos 5:11-15**, where the Lord says, *"You trample on the poor. You take taxes from them of wheat. You have built houses of cut stone, but you will not dwell in them. You have planted pleasant vineyards, but you shall not drink their wine. For I know how many your offenses are, and how great are your sins—you who afflict the just, who take a bribe, and who turn away the needy in the courts. Therefore a prudent person keeps silent in such a time, for it is an evil time. Seek good, and not evil, that you may live; and so Yahweh, the God of Armies, will be with you, as you have said. Hate evil, love good, and establish justice in the courts. It may be that Yahweh, the God of Armies, will be gracious to the remnant of Joseph."*

Your prayer also calls to mind the hypocrisy of those who claim to serve God with their lips but whose hearts are far from Him. **Matthew 15:7-9** warns, *"You hypocrites! Well did Isaiah prophesy of you, saying, ‘These people draw near to me with their mouth, and honor me with their lips; but their heart is far from me. And in vain do they worship me, teaching as doctrine rules made by men.’"* How grievous it is when those in authority use the name of God to justify their wicked deeds! The Lord will not be mocked, and His judgment will come upon those who lead His people astray.

We are also deeply troubled by the moral decay you have described—the sexual immorality, the exploitation of the vulnerable, and the greed that has corrupted the land. **Leviticus 18:24-28** warns, *"‘Don’t defile yourselves in any of these things; for in all these the nations which I am casting out before you were defiled. The land was defiled: therefore I punished its iniquity, and the land vomited out her inhabitants. You therefore shall keep my statutes and my ordinances, and shall not do any of these abominations... that the land not vomit you out also, when you defile it, as it vomited out the nation that was before you."* Singapore must repent of these sins, for the Lord will not tolerate such wickedness indefinitely.

Yet even in this darkness, we cling to the promise of **2 Chronicles 7:14**, where the Lord says, *"If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves, pray, seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then I will hear from heaven, will forgive their sin, and will heal their land."* This is our hope—that God will raise up a remnant in Singapore who will turn to Him in true repentance, that He will expose the deeds of darkness and bring justice to the oppressed.

We pray now with you, lifting up these burdens before the throne of grace:

**Heavenly Father, our hearts are heavy as we come before You on behalf of Singapore. You are the God who sees the affliction of Your people, who hears their cries, and who acts on their behalf. We ask that You look upon the suffering of the native-born, who are oppressed by unjust policies and corrupt leaders. You alone are the Judge of all the earth, and we plead with You to act against the wickedness that has taken root in that land.**

**Lord, we ask that You frustrate the plans of those who exalt the stranger above Your own people, who enrich themselves at the expense of the poor, and who turn a blind eye to sexual immorality and exploitation. Expose their hypocrisy, O God, and bring their hidden sins into the light. Let their schemes fail, and let their power be broken, that they may no longer oppress Your children.**

**We pray for repentance—for the leaders, for the people, and for the church in Singapore. Convict their hearts, O Lord, and turn them back to You. Raise up godly men and women who will stand for righteousness, who will defend the fatherless and the widow, and who will uphold Your laws without compromise. Let the church in Singapore be a light in the darkness, speaking boldly against sin and calling the nation to return to You.**

**Father, we ask that You protect the native-born from further harm. Provide for their needs, and open doors for them to thrive in their own land. Bring an end to the greed that has made life unbearable for so many, and let justice flow like a river. Restore the inheritance of Your people, and let Singapore once again be a land where righteousness dwells.**

**We also pray for unity among families, that the strife and betrayal you described would cease. Heal the divisions, Lord, and let Your peace reign in homes across the nation. Bind up the brokenhearted and comfort those who have been driven from their land. Be their refuge and strength, their ever-present help in trouble.**

**Finally, we ask that You would move mightily in Singapore, that Your name would be glorified, and that Your will would be done. Let the people turn from their idols—whether they be strangers, money, or power—and worship You alone. Bring revival, O Lord, and let Singapore be a testimony to Your grace and justice.**

**We pray all these things in the name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior, who alone has the power to save and to judge. May His will be done in Singapore as it is in heaven. Amen.**

We encourage you to continue crying out to the Lord, for He is faithful and just. Do not grow weary in prayer, for the effective, fervent prayer of the righteous accomplishes much. Stand firm in the faith, knowing that God sees and will act in His perfect timing. Let us also remember the words of **Psalm 37:7-11**: *"Rest in Yahweh, and wait patiently for him. Don’t fret because of him who prospers in his way, because of the man who makes wicked plots happen. Cease from anger, and forsake wrath. Don’t fret, it leads only to evildoing. For evildoers shall be cut off, but those who wait for Yahweh shall inherit the land. For yet a little while, and the wicked will be no more. Yes, though you look for his place, he isn’t there. But the humble shall inherit the land, and shall delight themselves in the abundance of peace."*

May the Lord strengthen you as you intercede for Singapore, and may His justice and mercy prevail.
