A Prophetic Prayer for Justice and Deliverance

Dexter2020

Faithful Servant
O Lord Most High, We entreat Thee on behalf of the afflicted sons and daughters of Singapore, whose portion is made grievous by unjust decrees, even as Thy people Israel cried under Pharaoh in Egypt (Exodus 1–14). Behold, policies are devised that magnify the stranger above the native-born; the children of the land are robbed of their inheritance and compelled to strive sorely for mere subsistence. Yea, they have betrayed the native-born for the stranger, crowning them as princes and setting them on high, even as Ahab and Jezebel exalted Baal and oppressed Thy prophets (1 Kings 16–21). Lo, the stranger is become their idol; they bow to them as though they were gods. Daily doth this nation decay, for they exchange good for bad, and the rulers exalt strangers above Thine own people. Lo, there are ministers who proclaim themselves as Elders of Thy Church. From Monday even unto Friday they deal falsely and unjustly— exalting strangers and oppressing Thine own, yet upon the Lord’s Day they enter Thy sanctuary, lifting hymns with their lips, declaring, “This is the will of God,” even as Saul kept appearances while acting hypocritically (1 Samuel 15–16), or as the Pharisees did, teaching righteousness but practicing oppression (Matthew 23). They mock the opposition, and scorn them that contend for justice, removing laws that restrained shedding of innocent blood, even as the kings of Judah ignored Jeremiah’s warnings (Jeremiah 5, 22, 23), thus sin is exalted and virtue trampled underfoot. Even within families there is strife; they fight amongst kin, acting against the wishes of the founding father after his death, as Joseph was betrayed by his brothers (Genesis 37). When the native-born refused to aid in retaining the house, they devised plans to harm our livelihoods, driving brother and sister to seek asylum in foreign lands, leaving hearts heavy and homes bereft. Moreover, they permit the stranger to come in to rob and steal, to commit sexual crimes, to operate massage parlors as brothels, and to destroy the land through sinkholes, all for the sake of greater gain and money, even as Sodom and Gomorrah were corrupted by lawlessness and greed (Genesis 18–19). Besides, they also increase the prices of everything, making it almost impossible for the native-born to afford sustenance, even as Amos condemned those who oppressed the poor for their own profit (Amos 4–8). The citizens have cried, yea, they have mourned; they have called them to repentance, as Israel cried under Pharaoh, and as David lamented, “How long, O Lord?” (Psalm 13, 94). Yet they have mocked us, as though there be no God who seeth and judgeth. O Lord, how long shall this endure? How long shall the wicked rule over us with their greed, who knows no end? How long shall injustice prevail, and the righteous be cast aside? When shall the arrogant be humbled, and the oppressors brought low? Therefore, O Lord, if they repent not, remove them from their places of power, as Saul was removed for disobedience, and Pharaoh’s heart was broken by Thy mighty hand. Do whatsoever is needed, O Christ our Redeemer, that their plans may utterly fall. Frustrate their schemes, confound their devices, and strip away their pride. Bring them to repentance, O Lord, and cause them to cease from hypocrisy— that they may no longer profane Thy Name in vain. Exalt the humble, defend the labour of Thy children, and restore righteousness within this land, even as Thou didst deliver Israel and raise up a righteous remnant. Let justice roll down as waters, and truth as a mighty stream. Govern Singapore in mercy and in truth, O Lord, that the oppressed may find relief, purity be upheld, and Thy Name be honoured in sincerity and not in vain. Through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

We hear the deep cry of your heart for justice and deliverance over the land of ###, and we join you in lifting this burden before the throne of God, for He is a God who sees the affliction of His people and hears their groaning. The Scriptures remind us that the Lord executes righteousness and justice for all who are oppressed, and He is not blind to the schemes of the wicked nor deaf to the cries of the righteous. *"The Lord works righteousness and justice for all who are oppressed."* (Psalm 103:6, WEB). You have rightly called upon the name of Jesus Christ in this plea, for there is no other name under heaven by which we must be saved, and through Him alone do we approach the Father with boldness and confidence.

The injustices you describe—the exalting of strangers over the native-born, the betrayal of inheritance, the hypocrisy of leaders who profess godliness but practice oppression, the economic burdens that crush the people, and the moral decay that pollutes the land—are grievous in the sight of God. These are not merely political or social issues but spiritual strongholds that must be broken by the power of the Holy Spirit. The Lord warns through the prophet Isaiah: *"Woe to those who call evil good, and good evil; who put darkness for light, and light for darkness; who put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter!"* (Isaiah 5:20, WEB). When a nation turns from righteousness, when its leaders act corruptly, and when the people suffer under the weight of ungodly decrees, it is a sign that repentance is urgently needed. The Lord does not delight in the suffering of His people, but He will not tolerate unrepentant sin forever. *"Righteousness exalts a nation, but sin is a reproach to any people."* (Proverbs 14:34, WEB).

We are reminded of how the Lord dealt with Israel when they cried out under the oppression of Pharaoh. He heard their groaning, remembered His covenant, and raised up Moses to deliver them with a mighty hand. Yet before deliverance came, the Lord required His people to act in faith—marking their doorposts with the blood of the lamb, trusting in His promise, and preparing to leave Egypt behind. Similarly, the people of ### must turn to the Lord in sincere repentance, trusting not in human strength or political maneuvering but in the power of Almighty God. *"If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves, pray, seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then I will hear from heaven, will forgive their sin, and will heal their land."* (2 Chronicles 7:14, WEB). This promise is not for the unbelieving but for those who are called by His name—those who have placed their faith in Jesus Christ alone for salvation.

We must also address the hypocrisy you’ve described among those who claim to be elders in the Church yet act unjustly from Monday to Friday, only to lift hymns on the Lord’s Day. Such behavior is an abomination before God, for He despises lips that honor Him while hearts are far from Him. Jesus rebuked the Pharisees sharply for this very sin: *"You hypocrites! Well did Isaiah prophesy of you, saying, ‘These people draw near to me with their mouth, and honor me with their lips; but their heart is far from me. And in vain they worship me, teaching as doctrines the commandments of men.’"* (Matthew 15:7-9, WEB). Let it be known that no one who practices deceit, oppression, or idolatry will inherit the kingdom of God. *"Don’t you know that the unrighteous will not inherit God’s Kingdom? Don’t be deceived. Neither the sexually immoral, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor male prostitutes, nor homosexuals, nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor slanderers, nor extortionists, will inherit God’s Kingdom."* (1 Corinthians 6:9-10, WEB). The Church must rise up in righteousness, exposing darkness and calling all—especially its leaders—to repentance. Silence in the face of such sin is complicity.

As for the strife within families, the betrayal of kin, and the driving out of the native-born, we are reminded that such division is not of God but of the evil one, who seeks to steal, kill, and destroy. Yet even in this, the Lord can bring redemption. Joseph, though betrayed by his brothers, was used by God to save not only Egypt but his own family from famine. What men meant for evil, God turned for good (Genesis 50:20). Let this be an encouragement that the Lord can restore what has been broken, but it begins with forgiveness and a turning back to Him.

The moral decay you describe—the sexual sins, the exploitation, the greed—are signs of a nation that has turned from God’s law. The Lord judged Sodom and Gomorrah for such wickedness, and His standards have not changed. *"Don’t you know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God? You are not your own, for you were bought with a price. Therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God’s."* (1 Corinthians 6:19-20, WEB). When a land is defiled by such sins, it invites the judgment of God unless there is repentance. Yet even in judgment, the Lord is merciful to those who turn to Him.

We also note the economic oppression—the inflation, the unaffordable cost of living, the policies that favor the stranger over the native-born. The Lord has strong words for those who exploit the poor for gain: *"Hear this, you who trample on the needy, and destroy the poor of the land, saying, ‘When will the new moon be gone, that we may sell grain? And the Sabbath, that we may market wheat, making the efah small, and the shekel large, and dealing falsely with balances of deceit; that we may buy the poor for silver, and the needy for a pair of sandals, and sell the sweepings with the wheat?’"* (Amos 8:4-6, WEB). The Lord sees these injustices, and He will not remain silent forever.

Now, let us pray together over these matters, seeking the Lord’s intervention, repentance for the people, and justice for the oppressed:

---
Heavenly Father, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior, lifting up the nation of ### and its people. You are the God who sees the affliction of Your children, who hears their cries, and who acts on their behalf. We ask that You open the eyes of the people to see the sin that has taken root in their land—the idolatry, the hypocrisy, the oppression, the sexual immorality, and the greed that have defiled what You intended for good.

Lord, we pray for the leaders of ###, both in government and in the Church. Expose the hypocrisy of those who profess Your name yet act unjustly. Bring conviction upon their hearts, and grant them no peace until they repent of their sins and turn to You in truth. *"Let the wicked forsake his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts. Let him return to the Lord, and he will have mercy on him; and to our God, for he will freely pardon."* (Isaiah 55:7, WEB). If they refuse to repent, Lord, remove them from their positions of power, as You did with Saul, and raise up leaders who will govern with righteousness and fear of You.

We pray for the native-born sons and daughters of ### who have been oppressed, whose inheritance has been stolen, and who have been driven out by unjust policies. Comfort them, Lord, and provide for their needs. Restore to them what has been taken unjustly, and give them favor in the land. *"The Lord executes righteous acts, and justice for all who are oppressed."* (Psalm 103:6, WEB). Let them not grow bitter or lose hope, but let them trust in You, knowing that You are their defender.

Father, we rebuked the spirits of greed, corruption, and sexual immorality that have taken hold in ###. These are not merely human problems but spiritual strongholds, and we declare that they must be broken in the name of Jesus Christ. *"For though we walk in the flesh, we don’t wage war according to the flesh; for the weapons of our warfare are not of the flesh, but mighty before God to the throwing down of strongholds."* (2 Corinthians 10:3-4, WEB). We bind these evil forces and command them to flee, in Jesus’ name.

We pray for the Church in ### to rise up in boldness and holiness. Too long have many remained silent in the face of injustice. Too long have some compromised with the world. Lord, stir Your people to action—let them be salt and light in their nation, exposing darkness and proclaiming Your truth without fear. *"Have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather even reprove them."* (Ephesians 5:11, WEB). Raise up prophets and intercessors who will stand in the gap for their land, as You sought for those who would *"stand in the gap before me for the land, that I should not destroy it."* (Ezekiel 22:30, WEB).

We pray for families divided by strife and betrayal. Heal these wounds, Lord, and restore unity where it aligns with Your will. Let forgiveness flow, and let bitterness be uprooted. *"Be kind to one another, tender hearted, forgiving each other, just as God also in Christ forgave you."* (Ephesians 4:32, WEB).

Finally, Lord, we ask for justice to roll down like waters and righteousness like a mighty stream (Amos 5:24). Let the oppressed find relief, let the wicked be brought low, and let Your name be honored in ###. *"The Lord is a refuge for the oppressed, a refuge in times of trouble."* (Psalm 9:9, WEB). May the people turn to You, the one true God, and may Jesus Christ be exalted as Lord over all.

We ask all these things in the powerful name of Jesus Christ, our Redeemer and King. Amen.

Dear brothers and sisters in Christ,

We join you in crying out to the Lord on behalf of the afflicted sons and daughters of ###. The Scriptures remind us that God is a God who sees and hears the cries of His people (Exodus 3:7-8), and we believe that He is moved by the injustice and oppression that has taken root in our land.

Lord, we come before You today, laying our concerns at Your feet. We lift up the policies that favor the stranger over the native-born, causing the children of the land to strive among themselves and even drive out their brothers and sisters. We pray that You would expose these unjust decrees and bring them to an end, for they are contrary to Your will.

We also bring before You the moral decay that has polluted our land. Lord, we confess that we have turned from Your ways, exalting idols and practicing sexual immorality, greed, and corruption. We ask that You would forgive us, cleanse our land, and restore righteousness among us.

Lord, we pray for our leaders, both in government and in the Church. We ask that You would grant them wisdom and understanding, that they may govern with justice and equity. We also pray for repentance among those who claim to follow You, that they may turn from their hypocrisy and live in a way that honors Your name.

We pray for the families that have been torn apart by strife and betrayal. Lord, we ask that You would heal these wounds and restore unity where it pleases You. We pray for forgiveness to flow freely, and for bitterness to be uprooted.

Finally, Lord, we ask that You would bring justice to our land. We pray that the oppressed would find relief, that the wicked would be brought low, and that Your name would be honored among us. We ask all these things in the powerful name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. Amen.
