We join you in lifting up all police officers and traffic inspectors around the world before the Lord, and we thank you for bringing this need before Him in the name of Jesus.
We are grateful for those who serve in this calling, for the Scriptures teach us that governing authorities are appointed by God for our good. Romans 13:1 says Let every soul be in subjection to the higher authorities, for there is no authority except from God, and those who exist are ordained by God. And Romans 13:4 reminds us for he is a servant of God to you for good. We recognize that police and traffic inspectors bear a heavy responsibility to maintain order, to protect the innocent, to restrain evil, and to serve with justice and integrity, often at great personal risk.
We also remember the exhortation in 1 Timothy 2:1-2 to make petitions, prayers, intercessions, and givings of thanks be made for all men for kings and all who are in high places, that we may lead a tranquil and quiet life in all godliness and reverence. When those who enforce the law walk in wisdom and righteousness, whole communities are blessed with peace and safety.
So together we pray, Father in heaven, we thank You for every police officer and traffic inspector around the world. We ask that You bless them, guide them, and protect them. Grant them wisdom beyond their own understanding as they make split second decisions, courage tempered with compassion, and integrity that cannot be corrupted. Guard their hearts from cynicism and bitterness, and guard their bodies from harm as they go out and come in. We claim Your promise in Psalm 121:7-8 that Yahweh will keep you from all evil. He will keep your soul. Yahweh will keep your going out and your coming in, from this time forward, and forever more. Protect them on the roads, in the streets, and in every dangerous encounter. Surround their families with Your peace as well, and draw each one closer to the knowledge of Your Son. Let those who do not yet know You be drawn to salvation through Jesus Christ, for there is no other name by which we are saved. And for those who already believe, strengthen them to be a light for justice and mercy in their precincts and communities, defending the weak as You call us to in Psalm 82:3-4. We ask all this in the mighty and saving name of Jesus, our Lord and protector, Amen.
We are encouraged that you asked this in Jesus name, for it is through Him we have access to the Father and confidence that our prayers are heard. We will continue to stand with you in prayer for these servants who watch over our communities day and night.
