all the born again police and traffic police in the world

We join you in lifting up all the born again police and traffic police around the world and we agree that we should remember them regularly in prayer. We are thankful for this burden to intercede for those who serve in these demanding and often dangerous roles while also seeking to walk faithfully with the Lord.

The Scripture reminds us that governing authorities are servants of God for our good, for he doesn’t bear the sword in vain. He is a servant of God, an avenger for wrath to him who does evil. Romans 13:4. How much more do we need to pray for those who know the Lord within these positions, that they may serve with integrity, courage and grace. We also hear the call to pray continually, I exhort therefore, first of all, that petitions, prayers, intercessions, and givings of thanks be made for all men, for kings and all who are in high places, that we may lead a tranquil and quiet life in all godliness and reverence. 1 Timothy 2:1-2, and to pray without ceasing. 1 Thessalonians 5:17.

We also want to gently note that being born again is only through faith in Jesus Christ. Jesus answered him, Most certainly, I tell you, unless one is born anew, he can’t see God’s Kingdom. John 3:3. And Jesus said to him, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me. John 14:6. There is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among men, by which we must be saved. Acts 4:12. It is only through the name of Jesus that we have access to God and that we are saved, and we rejoice that these officers have been born again by trusting in Him.

We pray together for them now.

Father, in the name of Jesus Christ we lift up every born again police officer and traffic officer around the world. We thank You for calling them to Yourself and for placing them as lights in difficult places. You have said, You are the light of the world. A city located on a hill can’t be hidden. Matthew 5:14. We ask that You strengthen them to let their light shine before men, that their conduct, their speech and their integrity would point others to You. Clothe them with the whole armor of God, that they may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. Ephesians 6:11. Guard them physically and spiritually as they face danger on the roads, hostility, temptation and corruption. For he will put his angels in charge of you, to guard you in all your ways. Psalm 91:11. Give them wisdom to act justly, to show mercy, to uphold righteousness and to be a true servant of God for good in their communities. Protect their families, encourage their hearts when they are weary, and give them boldness to share the hope of the gospel with fellow officers and with those they encounter. Keep them from compromise and lead them not into temptation. May they grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ and be sustained by Your Word daily.

We commit to remembering them regularly before Your throne, trusting that You hear our prayers through Jesus our mediator. We ask all this in the precious and only saving name of Jesus Christ, amen.

We are thankful you lifted this up. Wanting to regularly remember born again police and traffic officers around the world shows real care for people who carry heavy responsibility every day.

We hear how much this matters to you, and we want to stand with you in it. Those who follow Jesus while wearing the uniform often face long hours, danger on the roads, difficult decisions in a moment, and pressure to stay steady and honest when others might not. Remembering them consistently is a kind and faithful way to support them, even from a distance.

One simple way to keep this prayer regular without it fading is to tie it to something you already see. Each time you pass a police car, see an officer directing traffic, or hear a siren, let that be your prompt to say a brief prayer for those believers serving in that role, for their safety, clear judgment, and faithful witness where they are placed.

Father, we lift to You every officer who knows You and serves in police and traffic work around the world. Keep them safe as they do their duties, give them wisdom and integrity in every encounter, strengthen their families, and let their lives reflect You to coworkers and communities. Sustain them when the work is wearying and keep them close to You. In Jesus' name, amen.

It is a faithful and needful work to which you call us, to bear up before the throne of grace those who are born again and yet bear the sword and keep the streets. The Lord has ordained the powers that be for the restraint of evil, and when those who fill that office are also new creatures in Christ Jesus, they stand in a place of peculiar trial and peculiar usefulness.

Let us pray for them regularly and earnestly, for their calling is beset with temptations to grow hard, to become weary, to sleep upon the watch when they should be vigilant. They see daily the sin and sorrow of men, they are exposed to danger, to reproach, to the weariness of long hours and sudden peril. They need sustaining grace that they may walk in near fellowship with the Lord and not fall into the sleep of inaction, but keep their garments clean in the midst of a crooked generation.

Pray that the Lord will keep them faithful, that they may be lights in dark places, witnesses for the truth where the name of Christ is little loved. He who called Paul from among his enemies and can call a Luther from the darkest quarry can keep a single constable or traffic officer as a burning and shining light in his station. Let us not despise the day of small things, nor think a brief prayer of little account. A penny given in faith and a short cry of intercession offered in the name of Jesus may bear fruit unto eternal life.

God Himself encourages His people to pray and opens His mouth wide to fill it. He has said, open thy mouth wide and I will fill it. Let us take Him at His word and plead for these brethren, that they may be preserved from temptation, upheld in integrity, comforted in discouragement, and made bold to confess Christ before men. May the Lord bless them in their homes, keep their feet from evil, and make their lives to be a testimony that salvation is through Jesus Christ alone and by His grace they stand.

Let us then be constant in this supplication, not by feeling only but by faith, and the Lord who heareth prayer will hear us for them.
