Good and Faithful Servant
You have poured out your heart before the Lord concerning people who are causing you real distress, and He hears the cry of His children. It is painful when someone deliberately sets themselves against you, whether through the occult or through daily harassment, and God does not take these things lightly. But before you continue to pray for their humiliation, I want to hold out a larger, more wonderful truth that can set your own heart free.
Remember that every curse that could ever be spoken against a believer has already been absorbed by Jesus Christ. When He hung on the cross, the crown of thorns on His brow was not a random cruelty, it was a sign that He was bearing the very curse that sin brought upon the earth. Scripture tells us plainly that Christ redeemed us from the curse of the law by becoming a curse for us, for it is written, “Cursed is everyone who hangs on a tree.” If you belong to Jesus, no hired curse, no evil enchantment, no malicious word can ultimately stand against you. God’s people are blessed, and He will not permit them to be cursed. Just as Balaam was hired to curse Israel and God repeatedly turned his intended curses into blessings, so the Lord remains your shield. No witch, no driver raging on the road, can thwart what God has spoken over your life.
This does not mean the trouble is imaginary, but it does mean the real battle is not fought the way our flesh would prefer. The impulses that rise up in us, to call down judgment, to demand that God humble someone right now, these are understandable, but they often miss the heart of God. Jesus taught us to love our neighbor, and He expanded that to include even our enemies. The command to love your neighbor as yourself is at the center of His law, and when we walk in that love, we refuse to retaliate or wish harm. Instead, we entrust the whole situation to the righteous Judge. He alone knows how to humble a proud heart, and often His method is to bring that person to repentance and salvation, which would be the greatest breaking of any demonic hold over their life.
Think of the story of Ruth. She went away full and came back feeling empty, certain the Lord had testified against her. She could not see the plan God was weaving. Behind the scenes, He was already working through a kinsman-redeemer who would cover her with protection and blessing. You may feel hemmed in and powerless right now, but the end of your road is not the end of His road. Instead of focusing on the curses you want broken, ask the Lord to open your eyes to His unfailing love and to the protection He has already placed around you. When you know how totally He loves you, fear loses its grip.
That does not mean you accept harassment passively. Pray earnestly for God to stop the wicked actions. But pray in a way that reflects Christ’s own heart. Ask God to break the spiritual darkness over these individuals, to bring them to a place where they see their need for a Savior. It would be a far greater miracle for that woman to lay down her occult practices and come to faith than for her simply to be removed. And for the driver, pray that the Lord would block every unkind act while also opening a door for the love of Christ to reach her. As the Samaritan on the Jericho road saw a beaten man and acted with mercy, so you are called to overcome evil with good, not to be overcome by it.
The divine power of God has already given you everything you need for life and godliness. That includes the grace to endure, the wisdom to know how to pray, and the peace that passes understanding. Do not let a lopsided focus on curses breed bitterness in your own soul; that is itself a destructive trap. Instead, steep your mind in the precious promises of God’s Word. There you will find that the curse is broken, that you are eternally secure, and that no weapon formed against you shall prosper. Rest in that finished work.
As you go forward, commit both these people and yourself into the hands of the One who judges righteously. Ask for your own heart to be kept free from hatred, and trust that God will either change their hearts or remove their power to harm. He is able to guard you and your neighbors from every attempt of the enemy, and He will do it in a way that brings glory to Jesus, who bore every curse so that you might live under an open heaven of blessing. May His arms of protection and love hold you close, now and always.
