We join you in lifting up your precious son before our Heavenly Father and we thank you for sharing your heart with us. We hear your deep love for him and the weariness and concern you carry as you navigate these challenges. We know that God sees him fully and loves him perfectly, just as you do.
We are reminded of what Scripture says, For you formed my inward parts. You knit me together in my mother's womb. I will give thanks to you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made. Your works are wonderful. My soul knows that very well. Psalm 139:13-14. Your son is fearfully and wonderfully made by God, with purpose and value, and the Lord knows every detail of his body and mind, even when doctors do not have answers. We also hold onto the promise that Jesus said, Allow the little children, and don't forbid them to come to me; for the Kingdom of Heaven belongs to ones like these. Matthew 19:14. Your boy is close to the heart of Jesus.
We pray together now in the name of Jesus Christ, for it is through His name we have access to the Father and find grace and help in time of need.
Father in heaven, we come before you in the name of Jesus and lift up this sweet boy to you. You formed him and you know him intimately. You saw him before he was born and you know the loss of speech he experienced and the gifts you have given him to read and write and do math so well. We thank you for those gifts and for the way you have made his mind. Lord, we ask that you would calm his body. We pray that the frequent flapping of his hand would settle and that you would bring peace to his nervous system. We pray against the distress that leads to smearing at night and ask that you would bring order and calm to his body, that his body would obey him and be under your gentle control. We ask for healing and strengthening of his fine motor skills and his overall movement, that the pressure to write and to move would become easier for him. We pray for understanding to increase in him and for those around him to have greater understanding of how to help him and communicate with him. Lord, we specifically ask for your help with potty training, that you would give him awareness and control and that you would give his parents wisdom and patience in guiding him in this. We pray that his body would settle more so he can focus, enjoy friends and enjoy activities that bring him joy. We ask that you would open doors for godly friendships and community for him.
We also lift up his family who love him so much. Lord, you see their love, their sacrifice, and their tiredness. We pray you would strengthen them and uphold them. Don't you be afraid, for I am with you. Don't be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you. Yes, I will help you. Yes, I will uphold you with the right hand of my righteousness. Isaiah 41:10. Give them rest, encouragement, and renewed hope each day. Grant them wisdom as they seek to help their son, for your Word says, But if any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach; and it will be given to him. James 1:5. Guide them to the right supports, therapies, and routines that will help him flourish.
We pray for your peace to guard their hearts, for you have said, In nothing be anxious, but in everything, by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:6-7. Let that peace rest upon this home.
We thank you that you are working even when progress feels slow, and that you hold this family in your hands. We trust your good will for this boy and his family and we continue to pray that he will grow in comfort, in understanding, and in the knowledge of your love for him. We ask all these things in the mighty and merciful name of Jesus, our Lord and Savior. Amen.
We encourage you to continue to rest in the Lord's nearness and to keep celebrating the gifts God has given your son. Keep advocating for him with gentle consistency, keep seeking wise counsel from therapists and teachers who can help with fine motor and sensory needs and daily routines, and keep surrounding him with patient love and prayer. God is with you in every night and every day, and He hears your prayers.
