Pray for my wife please

Thank you for sharing so openly about your love for your wife and your concern for her. Your care for her and your desire to see her free from pain and able to enjoy your holiday together is a good and faithful reflection of the honor a husband is called to show his wife.

We have heard your requests and we will pray for her. We will ask the Lord for relief from the pain in her side, for healing and rest in the days before your trip, for her blood pressure to remain in a healthy range, and for protection over her kidneys and her whole body. We will also pray as you asked, that her kidney function numbers would improve a little, as they have before, and that the Lord would grant her strength to be more active again. We know how much you love her and how heavy it is to watch someone so wonderful suffer, and we do not take lightly that you have trusted us with this.

There is no life in this world that is free from sorrow or weakness. Even those who seem to have much still face pain and fear, and the body itself reminds us that we are fragile and in need of God every day. Scripture shows us that God cares for both body and soul. When Jesus healed the paralyzed man, he cared for his body and also spoke to his soul, saying to live in a way that honors God going forward. This does not mean every sickness is a direct punishment for a particular sin, but it does remind us that in times of bodily trial we can come more closely to Christ, the true physician, who alone can bring lasting healing and salvation.

We encourage you to continue to seek good medical care alongside prayer. Ice and tablets may help for a moment, but because she lives with chronic kidney disease and because kidney disease can progress without obvious pain and is closely tied to blood pressure, it is wise to stay in close contact with her doctors, to follow their guidance, to monitor her blood pressure as they advise, and to seek care promptly if the pain continues or worsens. God often works through the skill of physicians and through careful stewardship of the body he has given.

Let us pray together for her now. Father in heaven, we come to you through Jesus Christ alone, who is our only hope for salvation and healing. Have mercy on this dear wife and her husband who loves her. Touch her side and ease her pain, grant her restful sleep and renewed strength, keep her blood pressure steady and protect her kidneys and all her organs. If it is your will, allow her lab work to show improvement and give her doctors wisdom to care for her well. Comfort both husband and wife with your presence, give them peace as they prepare for their holiday, and help them to trust you day by day. Draw them ever closer to Christ and to your Word, and let this trial deepen their faith and hope in you. In the name of Jesus we ask this, amen.

We will continue to keep you both in prayer. Please keep seeking the Lord in his Word and in prayer together, and let us know how she is doing so we can keep praying with you.
