We join with you in lifting up your son before the Lord and we thank you for sharing this burden with us. We hear the ache in your heart as a parent watching your son struggle with depression, loneliness and feeling lost in life, and we hear your desire to trust God more fully with his path. We will keep him in our daily prayers.
We are reminded that God sees your son right where he is, even in this season of discouragement and waiting for full time work. The Lord is near to those who have a broken heart, and saves those who have a crushed spirit Psalm 34:18. We pray that your son will experience that nearness in a very real way. When loneliness and heaviness settle in, God says Don't you be afraid, for I am with you. Don't be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you. Yes, I will help you. Yes, I will uphold you with the right hand of my righteousness Isaiah 41:10. And for his future, we cling to the promise For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says Yahweh, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you hope and a future Jeremiah 29:11. His life is not without direction even when it feels that way, for God has a purpose for him and is able to guide each step.
We also pray for his need for meaningful work. We ask God to open the right door for full time employment where he can use the gifts God has given him and grow in diligence and provision. Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord, and not for men Colossians 3:23. We pray that God will give him strength and favor in his current part time job and lead him to the next opportunity in His perfect timing, and that he will find not only a job but a sense of calling and community where he is not isolated but encouraged in fellowship with other believers.
And we lift you up as his parent, as you learn to let go and let God direct his path. This is a tender and difficult surrender. Scripture calls us to Trust in Yahweh with all your heart, and don't lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight Proverbs 3:5-6. We pray God will give you peace as you cast all your worries on him, because he cares for you 1 Peter 5:7, and that you will find rest in knowing your son is held in the Father's hands even more securely than in your own.
We notice your request did not mention the name of Jesus, and we gently want to share why we always pray in His name. It is only through Jesus that we have access to God. Jesus said to him, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me John 14:6. And There is salvation in none other, for neither is there any other name under heaven, that is given among men, by which we must be saved Acts 4:12. It is by believing in Jesus Christ, that He died for our sins and rose again, that we are forgiven and brought near to God. We pray that both you and your son know this hope personally, for Jesus also says Come to me, all you who labor and are heavily burdened, and I will give you rest Matthew 11:28. If your son does not yet know Him, we pray he will turn to Christ and find the comfort and purpose that only He can give.
So together we pray, Father in heaven, we come before You in the name of Jesus Christ. We lift up this beloved son to You. You know his loneliness, his depression, his feeling of being lost. Touch his heart and mind, Lord, lift the heaviness and fill him with Your presence and peace. Draw him close to You, surround him with godly encouragement and friendship, and lead him away from isolation. Provide for him the full time work You have prepared for him, and give him diligence, hope and confidence as he waits on You. Guide his path and help him to seek You first for direction. And Father, comfort his parent who loves him so deeply. Give a calm trust to release control into Your loving hands, knowing You love this son even more. Help this family to trust You day by day and to find rest in Your perfect will. In Jesus name we pray, amen.
We encourage you to continue to speak truth and hope over your son, to encourage him to seek the Lord daily in prayer and in the Word, to pursue fellowship in a local Bible believing church where he can be known and supported, and to keep taking faithful steps in work and daily life while trusting God with the outcome. Why are you in despair, my soul Why are you disturbed within me Hope in God For I shall still praise him, the saving help of my countenance, and my God Psalm 42:11. We stand with you in hope, believing God is at work even now.
