The precious blood of Jesus speaks better things than all the cries that rise from human frailty, and it is upon that blood your hope for healing rests secure. When the blood of Abel cried out from the ground for judgment, the blood of Jesus pleads from the mercy seat for grace and full restoration. Do not trust in the eloquence of your own petitions, for it is the voice of that sacred blood, shed once for all, which prevails with the Father. Every drop proclaims pardon, peace, and the power to make whole. Let your soul lay hold of this: the application of Christ's blood is the true ground of joy, and in its cleansing stream disease must yield and health must spring forth.
The Word of God, applied by the Holy Spirit, is the means of healing for both body and soul, and Jesus Christ Himself is that Word made flesh, sent to cure all our maladies. When the soul is near the gates of death, a true prayer from that low place becomes a prevailing prayer. Your cry has risen, and the Great Physician has heard. It is His stripes that heal us, not our own repentance or merit, but the wounds He bore in our stead. If you were a thousand years old and your sins and sicknesses deep-rooted as the cedars, His stripes would still have power to make you whole. Believe it now: He was wounded for your transgressions, bruised for your iniquities, and by those very wounds healing is purchased and applied. The blood of Jesus changes the life-blood, makes the nature other than it was, and restores the years the locusts have eaten.
Do not let unbelief harden your heart against the clear promise. Jesus is angry with nothing so much as a heart that will not see His readiness to heal. Yet He who made the heart can melt it, and your very desire for His touch is a token that the stone is softening. Come just as you are, with every issue laid bare before Him, and hear Him say, "I will; be clean." The healing power is present now, not withheld, not distant, but flowing from the throne where Christ sits in glory. He has an eye for those for whom He shed His blood, and that eye looks upon you with tender pity and restoring might. One look from Him, one drop of His blood brought home to the conscience, and there is a peace so deep that nothing can rival it. Pardon and healing are one gift, wrapped in the same scarlet cord. Therefore, the inhabitant of this house of clay need not say, "I am sick," for the Sun of Righteousness has risen with healing in His wings.
Let your prayer be argumentative as Jacob's, pleading the covenant promises, pressing your suit with the arguments He Himself has given. Yet know that the answer may come in a manner you do not expect, perhaps in gradual strengthening, perhaps in sudden revival, but certainly in perfect conformity to His wise love. The healing leaves from the Tree of Life are not scarce; there is an abundance of healing power in Jesus Christ. Stretch out your hand, touch the hem of His garment now, and the virtue that flows from Him will make you whole. Then, when health dawns, let your mouth show forth His praise with a loud song, for He has brought you up from the gates of death and crowned you with lovingkindness. Heal me, O Lord, with a word! Save me, heal me, cure these issues by Your blood, and I shall be wholly restored, for Jesus' sake.
